Hi & welcome to our May Issue!! Term 1 school holidays done and dusted and just like that we are back into the routine of school. With that comes the start of the footy season and living in a house with 4 boys (hubby included!) equals loads of footy talk - winning, losing, footy cards, ladders the list goes on! Being so outnumbered I have to admit “if you can't beat them - join them” So goes Blues!! May is also the month we celebrate all of us amazing Mums! Yes - it is the hardest job I have ever done; long hours, playing referee & bouncer multiple times a day, sometimes terrible working conditions, days without a break and running on coffee after very limited sleep... But like all of us I wouldn’t change it (ok maybe some more sleep would be good!) For me the best parts are the giggles from our boys playing together, the chats in bed when they are drifting off to sleep, the looks on their faces when they master a new skill and the out of the blue “I love you Mum”. It’s these times that make it all so worth it! Especially for Mother’s Day we have a great competition thanks to Brazilian Butterfly in Greensborough. You can win a package including a lash tint and lift plus a brow henna and wax. The details and how to enter can be found on page 9. In this months “Kids Corner” there are some vouchers for the kids to decorate and complete as a gift for a Happy Mother’s Day - because we deserve it! I think you might like what you can redeem your vouchers for - I’m even thinking I might make some extra copies so each of them can make a voucher book for me! This month we visited the new and improved Ford Park in Bellfield. You can check out our review on page 10 in our “Out and About”. It’s definitely worth a visit and be sure to bring a scooter or bike plus a footy as there is an oval beside it. As always I hope you enjoy this months magazine and I wish all Mums a Fantastic Mothers Day filled with love, laughter and something sweet!

Out and About
FORD PARK Oriel Road BELLFIELD Don’t you love it when something old is made new again! That's what’s happened in Bellfield at this playground - and what a fantastic space the Banyule Council has created with this total upgrade. I also found out that the old playground was dismantled, packed up and donated to Sri Lanka by the Rotary Club of Ivanhoe. The new setting is very different to the old with hardly any plastic in sight giving the feeling of playing in nature and I imagine this will evolve over time as the plants surrounding it grow. Its also really spacious with many areas to sit and watch on as the children venture throughout the area. The main structure is made up of two towers joined by a rope bridge. Each side has slides, one

enclosed and two lower side by side, plus rope climbing walls, monkey bars and shop windows underneath for some imaginary play. There is also swing sets, a large spinner for lots little people to enjoy, suspended and web robe frames, stepping stones made from tree stumps and rocks plus metal music makers for tapping and banging. Another highlight is the scooter/bike track that has humps and little inclines all circling around a centre grass patch. This seemed to be very popular with little and big kids all cruising around the circuit. Completed with two covered BBQ areas I think it could be the perfect spot for a birthday party or a fun family dinner. Let me now what you think?

In The Kitchen Great sweet snack for school lunches
Fruit Leather Straps Ingredients -
3 - 4 cups of ripe diced fruit 1 -2 tbs sugar to taste 1 tbs lemon juice Optional - spice or flavours to taste
Method
Combinations we’ve tried: * Strawberry, raspberry &vanilla * Apple & cinnamon * Grapes - red & green * Banana & strawberry
1) Preheat oven to low setting 70 degrees 2) HARD FRUIT - place all ingredients in a saucepan with 1/2 cup of water and bring to a simmer. Cover with lid and simmer for 10 minutes until soft. 3) SOFT FRUIT & COOKED FRUIT (step 2) - blend all ingredients together in a blender/food processor until a smooth puree. 4) Cover a baking tray with baking paper or a silicon baking mat 5) Pour the mixture onto your tray and smooth over the prepared area. You want it to be around 4mm thick. Depending on your tray sizes you may have enough for 2 trays 6) Place in the oven and cook for around 4 plus hours. The time will depend on your oven, tray sizes and fruits used. They are ready when the centre is no longer tacky to touch 7) Remove from oven and allow to cool, then cut into strips. 8) Store in an airtight container or the fridge.
