Hi & welcome to our December/January Issue!! I can hardly believe as I type this out that we are fast approaching the end of the year and that this is our last issue for 2019! The year has flown by - Ollie has almost finished his first year of school, Cooper will be starting High School next year and Max will begin his last year of Primary School. They were all so little when I started my journey with this magazine - Ollie was still just a baby! After almost 5 years of running the business, of learning new skills and meeting some amazing people along the way - I have made the decision to sell the magazine. It’s time for me to make some changes with my life and for our family to pass the reigns over to someone else to continue to grow and develop the publication. If you think that person might be you then give me a buzz for a chat to find out how you could become the new owner of Your Child in Banyule and Nillumbik working from home around your family! This time of year is filled with so much excitement (plus a touch of craziness) with lists being written and dates for catch ups and parties filled in already full diaries! Plus there is the joy and anticipation of the new year and well wishes for new beginnings. We have some fantastic articles in this issue relating to Christmas with: “Is Writing a Letter to Santa a Good Tradition” and “Easy Christmas Craft Ideas for Young Children” and for the New Year we have: “Finish the Decade With Gratitude” and “Numerology 2020 Forecast”. In our “Kids Corner” we have a cute New Years Resolutions sheet for kids - it's a great one to fill in and keep to look back on in years to come. You could make a few copies and all fill one in, colour the page and keep them with photos from your New Years celebrations. I hope you enjoy this issue. EDENDALE COMMUNITY ENVIRONMENT FARM
30 Gastons Road - Eltham
Edendale Farm is like a hidden gem for families! It has long been a favourite of ours with each visit being different. It’s the kind of place where you can stop for a short visit or a day outing for just a gold coin donation per person - it's the cheapest fun around! The property is set over 18 acres and is home to goats, sheep, Simba the pony, Tina the turtle, spiny leaf stick insects, guinea pigs, a turkey, geese and various breeds of poultry. You can purchase a bag of chicken feed for $1 and make your way down to the chicken enclosure to feed them. To this day our boys are still cautious of the turkey although they find him so funny. The other animals can be viewed from out side of their enclosures. Most Wednesdays between 10 - 10:30am you can also pat a cute little guinea pig. While you are there you can enjoys a picnic or take advantage of the Eden Café with a delicious menu and great coffee. Either way there are plenty of places you can sit and take in the serenity of the farm’s atmosphere. The centre has activities for the kids to find using a farm map and they run extra activitoes over the school holidays. (Check out their website) The young farmers sessions are very popular for 9 12 year olds. There is also a digging pit that, as simple as it is, is a popular spot to stop by. Another bonus is the Indigenous Plant Nursery that produces over 100,000 plants each year. So if you’re looking to add to your garden be sure to check it out. The staff are more than happy to help and give advice on what they have and what will work for you. There is ample parking and everything you need for a fun day out with your family!

Microwave safe mixing bowl Ziplock bag or piping bag Baking paper Baking tray
Method 1. Line baking trays with baking paper, and place pretzel rods in two rows.
Perfect for a cupcake topper or as a sweet treat
2. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt your white chocolate wafers in 30-second intervals, stirring at each interval until melted through. 3. Add food colour to the chocolate to make the shade of green you like. It should only takes a few drops 3. Scoop melted chocolate into the ziplock bag, or a piping bag, and snip a corner to create a small drizzle tip. 4. Begin drizzling the melted chocolate over the pretzels in a tree-like pattern. 5. Quickly sprinkle the chocolate trees before they set, and carefully place a sprinkle star at the top of each one. 6. Let them cool for 15 minutes in the fridge to set.
