Hi & welcome to our June Issue!! As we head into the first month of winter we’re also starting to see some of the restrictions lifted. Being able to visit with friends and family is no doubt most welcomed by everyone. The kids are almost all back at school and although it didn’t go as I planned (or probably hoped) we got through it - we survived the home schooling lock-down woo whoo! I certainly have a greater appreciation for all the teachers out there. How did your lock-down go? How did you rate yourself as a teacher if you had the task of home schooling? We have all played our part as individuals and as a collective in helping to flatten the curve so well done everyone! Our new normal for a while to come though will be social distancing, which I have found most people have become very good at. To keep up with the easing of restrictions and to avoid any further lock-downs it's the way we must keep it. Another good thing is to download the government app, if you haven’t already, go to the link here and get onboard: www.health.gov.au/resources/apps-and-tools/coronavirus-australia-app Some of our local businesses that closed are beginning to reopen while others that remain closed are adapting to these changed circumstances. Starting online classes, limiting numbers through their doors or interacting with the customers in different ways. When the going gets tough our community gets creative and supports each other! Out and About

HARRY POTTAGE RESERVE Cnr. Glenmore & Wungan Street MACLEOD Located within walking distance to the Macleod YMCA and train station this playground is perched above bushland and trails and has some fun equipment to discover. Consisting of a main structure with 2 slides, monkey bars and a climber, hanging disks, shop window for imaginary play, ramps and landings to climb and jump from as well as a vertical rope web and a log roll to run run run on! There’s also 2 sets of swings which is great when there are more visitors plus 2 rocking animals. Just beyond the play area is an impressive long wavey metal slide - resting on the hill with steps to race back up the top - a sure winner to tire them out!!

And if your kids are into basketball like mine they will be happy to know there is a half court there too so remember to pack a ball. A great park to also take a scooter or bike to so your kids can take advantage of the trails. Or maybe just go on a walking adventure. You will find plenty of seats around for resting and a drinking tap too. Although the area isn’t covered with a shade there is a rotunda if you did want to take a break from the sun. The only real negative is that there is no toilets at the park and the closest bathroom would be at the YMCA down the road if its open. But don’t let this deter you as I still think it's a great one to visit. I hope your family enjoys some fun there too!

MOTHERS HELPING MOTHERS WITH POSTNATAL DEPRESSION AND ANXIETY Have you previously experienced postnatal depression or anxiety? Are you interested in providing support to new mothers at risk of postnatal depression or anxiety? Approximately 1 in 5 of new mothers suffer from postnatal depression and/or anxiety and many do not receive the support they require. To help these new mothers, researchers from the La Trobe University are conducting a study called “DAISY – Depression & AnxIety peer Support studY”. This study consists of experienced mothers who have previously experienced postnatal depression or anxiety offering mother-to-mother telephone support to new mothers who are at high-risk to develop postnatal depression or anxiety. We are seeking peer support volunteers who have previously experienced (and recovered from) postnatal depression or anxiety. To become a “peer support volunteer” you will need to attend a 4-hour on-line video training session to learn how to provide telephone support. Zucchini Chocolate Brownies Ingredients: · · · · · · · · · · · ·

2 cups zucchini, grated 1/2 cup melted and cooled coconut oil 1/2 cup pure maple syrup 2 large eggs, at room temperature 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 1 3/4 cup wholemeal flour 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder 1/2 teaspoon salt 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg 1 1/3 cups dark chocolate chips

3. In a large mixing bowl, beat together the coconut oil, eggs, maple syrup, and vanilla. Add zucchini. 4. In a separate bowl, combine flour, cocoa, salt, baking powder, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Stir to combine. 5. Add dry mixture to the wet/zucchini mixture. Stir to combine. Add chocolate chips. 6. Pour batter into prepared pan.

Directions: 1. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees (160 in a fan forced oven) Grease an 8 x 8 inch baking pan and line with baking paper so that you have a little hanging over the sides. Set aside.

7. Bake 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out mostly clean but with a few crumbs still clinging too it. Let cool completely before removing from pan.

Homemade Bath Paint Ingredients: 1/4 cup baby shampoo or body wash 1/4 cup corn starch 1-2 tablespoons of water Food colouring Add cornstarch to a mixing bowl Follow with shampoo/body wash & mix to combine Add water a tablespoon at a time until mixture is thick enough to stick to paint brush without being to runny. If it gets too runny, add more cornstarch, too thick, add more water. Divide mixture if you want more than 1 colour . (You could use - paint trays, jars, ice tray or even a mufďŹ n tin) Add food colouring to make your colours. You only need a few drops! Hand it over to your little artist and watch the fun!!
