Hi & welcome to our September Issue!! And hello Spring - I’ve been patiently waiting for you! Are you like me and have been counting down the last days of Winter? I’m really looking forward to the those lovely spring days to start with the crisp cool mornings. I think it’s my favourite season. With the warmer weather and a little sunshine we all tend to spend more time outdoors and that's good for the mind and body. Good food is also what we need and on page 25 we have a quick and simple recipe for Couscous Salad - its fresh and quick and perfect as a meal or side dish for all the BBQ’s you’ll soon be having! Or pack it for a picnic on a park adventure. This month we put together a list of our favourite playgrounds we’ve visited over the years. Hopefully the list will come in handy for some outdoor fun as we head towards the Spring holidays at the end of the month. While you are out and about why not try the scavenger hunt we have on page 27 - do it together or make a few copies and create a fun competition. Speaking of competitions if you have a Lah-Lah fan in your house be sure to enter our competition to win a Family VIP pass by heading to our Facebook page - entries close on the 10th September so be quick! As always we have some fantastic articles inside covering many topics including feeding difficulties, screen time, air fryers and much more. I hope you enjoy this months issue and I wish you and your family a bright and sunny month.

Blessing of the Animals There will be a Blessing of the Animals service at St Margaret's Anglican Church in Eltham, to which everyone who has a pet can come. You can bring your pet or pets, on a leash, in a box, or in your arms, for a special blessing on this day. The Blessing of the Animals is held in the church hall and is a lovely celebration of the special bond that we have with our pets. It is held every year, on the first Sunday in October. All with pets are welcome. If you cannot bring your pet, you can bring a photo. Details: St Margaret's Church Hall, Pitt Street Eltham on Sunday, 6 October 2019 at 10:00am The Blessing of the Animals is the conclusion of the Season of Creation that is celebrated each year over the month of September in church services. The act of blessing has the meaning of the imparting of power or life. It is an expression of goodwill and caring and the blessing of each pet, individually and by name, means that health, healing and life are being mediated from God for the benefit of the pet and its relationship with its human partner. The yearly date of the Blessing of the Animals coincides on, or is close to, October 4, which is the feast day of St Francis of Assisi, born in 1181. St Francis of Assisi was a catholic friar who devoted his life to caring for animals and the natural world. He was made the patron saint for animals and the environment, and it became customary for Catholic and Anglican churches to hold ceremonies for the blessing of animals.
