From Halloween through to Christmas, Boroondara is packed with a great variety of community events, many supported by local traders It’s a fantastic opportunity to be actively involved in your local community & support the businesses & organisations that support the area that you choose to live, work or play in! This months edition has a great selection of articles, including the importance of gratitude, a plan of action for decorating baby’s nursery, to tackling toilet training & much more. Thanks to your feedback, YCIB has extended its Kids Corner to include multi-age activities spread across two pages for each YCIB edition moving forward. Did You Know.......... Halloween originated in Ireland & Scotland over 2000 years ago! Similar festivals can be traced back over 6000 years ago! The original Jack O’Lanterns were made of turnips not pumpkins! Halloween is celebrated on 31st October every year. YCIB is celebrating Halloween throughout October. Pink elephant stampede - amazing race Sunday, 12th October 2014 Help raise awareness about youth mental health and wellbeing and join the pink elephant stampede amazing race. Register as an individual player or create a team of four to six friends. Register online Cost: $10 per participation Teams will be asked to complete a variety of tasks, to be announced on the day, around the theme of mental health. Activities include, break dancing, origami, yoga, mindfulness and much more.
