Manningham Hello and welcome to July 2016. This is a very special month for us as we celebrate Your Child in Manningham magazine's 7th birthday. I still remember how excited we were way back in July 2009 when we printed our very first Issue with a photo of my 1yr old son on the front cover and the enjoyment I got to finally get our magazine up and running. It has been so rewarding to see so many local children on our front cover over the past 7 years not to mention the great support from our readers and advertisers, which has been truly amazing. Over the years I have lost count of how many grandparents and parents who have grown up children telling me how they wish they had a magazine like Your Child In Manningham when they were raising their children, this positive feedback has always been truly appreciated by my husband and I. We are now half way through the year and most of us are thinking of how we can make the school break fun not only for our children but also for ourselves. The Multicultural festival is on at Bulleen Plaza on the 8th of July which falls on a Friday. It will be a fun day out were you can enjoy face painting and a balloonist, tastings and lots of giveaways especially a PS4 to be won. In Manningham we are so lucky we have so many parks to choose from. During July you can still go outdoors and have fun and why not visit one of our local parks and take the kids outside maybe have a picnic, play date or BBQ. It is never too early to introduce your child to the amazing experience of learning how to swim .. At Westerfolds, we believe that every child has the right to learn how to swim and this journey is best begun at the infant stage. Starting classes as a baby helps to create the wonderful bond between the child and the water, a lifelong relationship that our staff are passionate about and will endeavour to make your first experience in the water a memorable and enjoyable one. Don't wait until your child goes to school, start young, as babies have a natural affinity for the water and being in the water will become like second nature. By familiarising babies and toddlers with simple skills in parent assisted classes, our program then develops into independent learning with the teacher in a group of 4. This generally happens at the age of 3, or when children are emotionally capable of detaching from their parents. Westerfolds is committed to providing quality swimming tuition with an emphasis on stroke technique and development. Our dedicated instructors are all Austswim qualified, maintain up to date CPR and Working with Children's Check. Most of our instructors are lifelong teachers and we are proud of the wealth of knowledge that they bring into the pool. We are passionately committed and our positive attitude is reflected in our desire to see your child progress. Each child will receive a certificate on completion of their levels at twice yearly intervals. We also conduct an annual water safety week, as well as fun activities such as snorkel and inflatable day. Week long school holiday programs are also on offer. Swimming lessons are available 7 days a week for Preschool and School aged children.
SQUASH- THE HEALTHIEST SPORT Why? Because squash is the highest calorific burning sport per hour! Want to get fit? Then rent a racquet, grab a friend have a fun at the same time. We have 8 courts available for hourly hire. If you want something a bit more serious then join in on one of our in-house or pennant competitions or if you are looking to hone your Squash Skills then join our resident pro Rex Hedrick in a training squad. One on one coaching is also available. If you are looking for a child friendly sport with no weather constraints then we also have a Junior Development Program which caters for kids on an after school basis. We have a fantastic clubroom to sit and have a drink after your game and we have a huge range of rackets and shoes for purchase. See you at the Club!
