e have been planning for a holiday over Christmas and I just can't wait for any longer. The festive season is upon us! Have you planned for your holiday? How the year has flown. I still can remember last year we spent a lovely time in Japan over Christmas. Lilia had her first Disneyland visit and she is still talking about it! We can't wait to take Pasha there too. He is different to his sister who has visited quite a few countries already; Pasha hasn't really experienced travel much yet. But he will have his first trip soon, so yay!

Travelling is a big part of our family life. My friends keep telling me to travel with your kids as much as possible before they turn to teenagers and refuse to go with their parents. I can't really picture that day - well I don't want to, I guess, it is just too scary. I can't imagine my beloved little ones who ask for their mummy all the time, will one day turn away from me? 怎么选小学？ 笔者是一位中学老师，对于维州的教育系统还是 颇熟悉，没想到孩子快四岁了，给她看小学，却深感 “隔行如隔山”，一切都要从新学起。研究了一段时 间，还是有些收获。相信很多华人家长给孩子选小学 还只是在纠结私校公校，去参观学校也只是看看校舍 新不新，校长和蔼不和蔼吧。如果你还停留在这样表 面的层次，不妨读一读这篇文章。由于篇幅关系，我 们会推出几篇文章来涵盖这个话题，从这个月开始， 每月连载。如果丢失了杂志，也可以关注我们的官方微信（见目录页），长期保存。 言归正传。很多朋友跟我讨论小学选校问题，上来第一个问题一定是“你觉得私校 好还是公校好? ”那我们就先来谈谈这个问题。 公校还是私校 经济条件允许的话，大多数人会选择私校。私校的硬件设施总体是比较好，校舍 新，一般是砖房，公校一般是木板房。很多设备也是公校没有的，比如科学室，最新电 脑配备，音乐演奏厅，这些硬件设施都是学习的保障。再者公校老师的工资比较高，高 工资吸引人才，老师生活好，自然工作积极性高，这也是要考虑的方面。一些一般的公 校为了留住老师，一开始就永久雇佣，也就是不怎么样的老师一留就是一辈子；私校一 般是合同制，优秀的才能留下来。 私校活动也会比较多，骑马，帆船，各种国际学校交流，这些在公校都比较少见。 很多经济充裕的家长送孩子去私校，其实还有一个很重要的原因，就是建立人脉。 毕竟一些私校就是某些财团下一代孩子聚集的地方，外国人也重视人脉，所以从小学就 打入这些团体，对孩子将来长大创业工作都是有利的。 说了这么多，难道不去私校孩子就没希望了吗？完全不是。私校公校在笔者看来就 是钱的选择。你能不能够，愿不愿意为孩子花这笔钱？更多的钱当然能带来更多利益。 但其实就教育而言，这边小学学的东西不多，所以公校出来的孩子也并不会在学术 上比私校差多少，何况很多华人孩子小学就补习，所以会出现一些顶级公校孩子的 Naplan（三年级和五年级的一个全州统一考试）甚至领先很多私校。所以就成绩而言， 也就是补习的功劳而已。 公校就没有好老师了吗？当然不是。普遍而言，澳洲的老师，特别是小学老师，基 本都是充满爱心的。学术知识并不会非常领先，但是一般做这个工作的老师都是对这个 工作充满热情。 所以公校还是私校，这你要掂量下自己的钱包。而说到钱，小康家庭的父母有时会 觉得上不起私校，但又不甘愿去公校，往往他们会突然领悟到，去教会学校！那么教会 学校是怎么一回事呢？ 教会学校 教会学校的学费是介于公校和私校之间。而且很多家长选择教会学校的原因是因为 纪律好。这个的确。笔者在教会学校实习过，学校里的人文气氛很强，老师学生都是充 满信仰。有信仰的孩子不会坏到哪里。所以教会学校的确对孩子人格形成有很大帮助。 教会学校的问题在于一般好的教会学校孩子还没出生就要排队，而且越好的学校对 于家庭是否信教越严格，报名一般要有牧师的推荐信。有的学校会有名额给不信教的家 庭，但这种机会非常少，特别是好的学校。而我们华人一个问题就是，大部分人是不信 教的，那怎么办呢？因为了孩子上学而去信教吗？ 这样是没问题的，只是，你能坚持多久?把孩子送上教会学校是一回事，之后你能 参与多少又是一回事。很多教会学校就是一个小社团，家长们老师们周末都会去某个教 堂礼拜，通过这样的形式进行交流和建立友谊。你能不能坚持几年？一些教会学校甚至 出现如果某个孩子家里不参与这些活动，其他孩子会排斥他的现象。因为父母不让他们 跟这样的人玩。外国人也有是非，你准备好如何去面对这样的是非了吗？ 教会学校的另一个问题就是很多有名的学校校舍都是比较破旧的，全靠信仰在支 撑。父母能不能接受这样的环境，也是要考虑的问题。 好，这次先讲到这里。下一期我会讲讲一些特殊的小学，比如steiner, 蒙特梭 利，IB学校，这些世界有名，在中国要几十万才能读的学校，墨尔本都有，而且价格并 不贵，我会分析下他们的特点。敬请关注。

孟子是战国时期的大思想家 孟子从小丧父 全靠 母亲倪氏一人日夜纺纱织布 挑起生活重担 倪氏 是个勤劳而有见识的妇女 她希望自己的儿子读书 上进 早日成才 一天 孟母看见邻居铁匠家里支着个大炉子 几个 满身油污的铁匠师傅在打铁 孟轲呢 正在院子的 角落里 用砖块做铁砧 用木棍做铁锤 模仿着铁 匠师傅的动作 玩得正起劲呢 孟母一想 这里环 境还是不好 于是又搬了家 她把家搬到了荒郊野外 一天 孟子看到一溜穿着 孝服的送葬队伍 哭哭啼啼地抬着棺材来到坟地 几个精壮小伙子用锄头挖出墓穴 把棺材埋了 他 觉得挺好玩 就模仿着他们的动作 也用树枝挖开 地面 认认真真地把一根小树枝当作死人埋了下去 直到孟母找来 才把他拉 回了家 孟母第三次搬家了 这次的家隔壁是一所学堂 有个胡子花白的老师教着一群 大大小小的学生 老师每天摇头晃脑地领着学生念书 那拖腔拖调的声音就像 唱歌 调皮的孟轲也跟着摇头晃脑地念了起来 孟子开始变得守秩序 懂礼 貌 喜欢读书 这个时候 孟子的妈妈很满意地点着头说 这才是我儿子应该 住的地方呀 可是有一天 孟轲逃学了 孟母知道后伤透了心 等孟轲玩够了回来 孟母把 他叫到身边 说 你贪玩逃学不读书 就像剪断了的布一样 织不成布 织 不成布 就没有衣服穿 不好好读书 你就永远成不了人才 说着 抄起剪 刀 哗 的一声 把织机上将要织好的布全剪断了 孟轲吓得愣住了 这一次 孟轲心里真正受到了震动 他认真地思考了很久 终于明白了道理 从此专心读起书来 由于他天资聪明 后来又专门跟孔子的 孙子子思学习 终于成了儒家学说的主要代表人物
