Hello! Since my little girl started kindergarten, she has made a great many friends. She tends to play with girls but gets along well with everyone. As September and October are the 'birthday parties' season, we have been quite busy attending her friends' parties. She enjoys all these occasions as does her younger brother. As parents we probably don't enjoy them as much as they do, but it is great that they have a lot of fun!

October 4 is Mid-Autumn Festival in China. The Chinese celebrate this festival at every corner of the world. It is just as important as the Spring Festival. This festival shows our longing for family unity and is a celebrated for a full month as a sign of completeness. Kids Corner Dots and Boxes Players take turns in drawing lines between dots on a grid. The player who completes the most boxes wins as shown in example below. Instruc ons: Only one line can be drawn at each turn. The two players take turns to join two adjacent dots with a horizontal or ver cal line. If a player completes the fourth side of a box they ini al that box and must draw another line. When all the boxes have been completed the winner is the player who has ini alled the most boxes.

作者：北岛 我和你们走在一起，未曾相识，如果遇上诗歌，恰似缘分。 在人生的路上，你们正值青春年少，诗歌相当于路标，辨认方 向，感悟人生，命名万物，这就是命运中的幸运。回头望去，我 跟你们一样年轻过，当年遇上诗歌，就像遇上心中的情人，而爱 情，几乎就是诗歌原初的动力。 每个出生长大的孩子，处在不同的阶段，特别是青少年时 期——更敏感更多变，突如其来，跨越不同的边界，开拓想象力 与创造性。我相信，当青春遇上诗歌，往往会在某个转瞬之间， 撞击火花，点石成金，热血沸腾，内心照亮，在迷惘或昏睡中突 然醒来。 雪花和花瓣，早春和微风，细沙和风暴，每个孩子的感受都 是独特的，就像指纹那样不可重复——这一切都是诗意，但还不 是诗歌，换句话说，诗歌即形式，是由文字和音乐性等多种因素 构成的。 十岁那年，我写了第一首“诗”——从报纸杂志上东抄西 凑，尽管是陈词滥调，但对我来说，由文字的排列和节奏，头一 次体会到触电般的奇妙感觉。 在暑假，父亲令我背诵古诗词，多不解其意，幸好有音韵节 奏引路。比如，杜甫的《客至》开篇：“舍南舍北皆春水，但见 群鸥日日来”，豁然开朗，心情愉悦。从小背诵古诗词，岁月沓 来，尚有佳句脱口而出——诗歌浸透在血液中。对儿童青少年来 说，音乐性是打开诗歌之门的钥匙。 三年前，我的儿子兜兜刚上小学一年级，被选入普通话朗诵 组，准备参加香港学校朗诵节比赛。那天下午，他带回一首诗 《假如我是粉笔》。 这首诗让我大吃一惊——这类普通话训练教材不仅滥竽充 数，反过来伤害孩子们的想象空间。我试着朗诵了《假如我是粉 笔》，把鼻子气歪了。好在兜兜不委屈自己，一早就跟老师说： 老师，我不想当粉笔。 从此日起下决心，我花了两三年的功夫，最终编选了《给孩 子的诗》，作为送给兜兜和孩子们的礼物。让孩子天生的直觉和 悟性，开启诗歌之门，越年轻越好。

编者随笔 首先明确一点，读书比不读书好。那在都读书的前提下，读什么书就 很重要了。 这个时代不缺书。再也不是几十年前，只有经过层层筛选一本书才 能问世。现在谁都可以写书，明星毫无营养的日记写出来也可以是畅销 书，把别人的故事盗窃过来换个性别讲一讲也可以翻拍成电视剧，任何 人都可以开一个号在文学网站在各种论坛和微信上发表自己的看法。所 有这些都值得看吗？自然不是。 若放到几十年前，读杂书并不是一件坏事，因为就算读野史，里面 也反射着历史的各个层面。但现在读明星的出轨和各种包装好的鸡汤， 不只没有营养，甚至还有毒。它们消磨你的时间，腐蚀着你的灵魂，麻 痹你的感官，拉低你的审美。 读读张爱玲的小说，在她犀利又华美的文笔里看主人公沉浮，看她 用“红玫瑰与白玫瑰”，“朱砂痣”与“窗前明月光”来写妻子与情 人，这是升华；不济一点看看琼瑶，爱情的三观虽然偏离，至少还有文 笔和低吟浅唱来弥补；只是今人爱看最低层次的言情小说，尽是霸道总 裁爱上我，小白兔和绿茶婊，只是用钱做衣裳的市井泼妇而已。 在污秽的环境里待久了，只会失去了闻香的嗅觉，最悲哀的还是失 去了独立思考的能力，脑子很久都不动，再也动不了了。 现在儿童的书籍汗牛充栋，但真的都适合孩子读吗？北岛就很气愤 地说“不是！”，那些说“我是一只粉笔，让老师在黑板上写”这样的 诗就是限制了孩子的想象力。作为家长，我们不能只买书给孩子，还要 为他们筛选。为他们富养阅读。在文学方面滋润他们，让他们的起点站 得高一些，以后遇到一些俗物脏东西自然看不下去，灵魂寂寞饥渴的时 候也不会用脑残剧来消磨。 这正是为人家长如今培养孩子阅读能力的重要课题。
