Welcome to the April edition of your Child in Whittlesea.
Here we are in April, autumn is here, the leaves are beginning to fall and the nights are getting cool. I hope the kids enjoyed the Easter Egg Hunts! Are you looking for a school to enrol your child or children in – then consider Gilson College, St Pauls the Apostle Catholic PS or Ivanhoe Grammar. Talking Turtles Speech Pathology can provide Speech, Language, Literacy, Social Skills, Fluency and ASD assessments & therapy for children 2-18 years I am always on the outlook for a location for a party – why not try Bundoora Action Sports/ Inflatable World. Are you looking for some activities for your kids, try Ready Steady Go's multi-sport program or Gymsports Academy of Movement and Excellence. Is it time for a visit to the dentist - Dentist of Plenty Valley in Whittlesea will give you “plenty” of reasons to smile. Don’t forget immunisation for your child or children- details of immunisation are enclosed. This month , why not take the kids to the Family Fun Day at Whittlesea Community Centre on Friday, 8th April from 10am to 4pm or to Kids Art In The Park at Hawkstowe Picnic Area in South Morang on Sunday, 10 April from 10 am to 2 pm. The City of Whittlesea has some great parks; I will be reviewing parks and playgrounds in my “Fun with Frances “page. If there is a park you would like to see included, please email or send a message on Facebook We would like to encourage kids to write in and share their stories, jokes and ideas. Children are also encouraged to have fun in our “Kids Corner”. We frequently have completions for our young readers, so keep an eye for details in our magazines or on our Facebook pages. The Your Child in Whittlesea Facebook page is regularly updated with news and events that are relevant to our readers, so make sure you visit our Facebook page and “like” to receive useful updates and be a part of the Your Child in Whittlesea community. Kids Art in the Park Bring the kids along to try different art activities such as painting, pottery and craft. Take a picnic and a rug or purchase food and drinks at the event. Sunday 10th April 10am-2pm Hawkstowe Picnic Area, South Morang
A little nature play Local nature provides wonder and learning. Children will explore with tools, listen to animals and maybe meet a local frog. Facilitated by Jane Bevelander and recommended for parents and carers of children between 2 and 5 years. Thursday 21st April 10.30 - 11.30am Parks and reserves in the City of Whittlesea. Fun with Frances
This month Frances and I had fun at Hilltop Park in Doreen. The park has a wooden adventure type playground with ramps leading to a high lookout. with a telescope, speak and listen systems and musical pipes. There are two metal slides, a high scrambling wall, walkways, tunnels, clock, rope ladder, spiral ladder, steering wheels, steps, climbing wall, tic tac toe, hanging discs, monkey rungs, flying fox, see saw and swings. Next to three rocking vehicles, there is a forest of tree stumps and speckled eggs. Nearby there is a large shelter with BBQ and tables, a water fountain. There are surrounding walk paths and a large grass area. Hilltp Park is suitable for both toddlers and older kids. Frances had so fun! We will definitely be coming back to this park.
