EditorsLetter Welcome to the April edition of Your Child in Whittlesea magazine. Can you believe we are already a quarter of the way through the year and our children are again on school holidays. Where is the time going? I’m sure many of you are very busy with Easter and holiday preparations. Don’t forget to take a little time out for yourself, and read some of the great articles. On page 6, you will find ‘Easter Tradition Story,’ Ideas on how to ‘Help your kids to tidy up after themselves,’ is on page 8. For mums heading back into the workforce there is a great read on page 20, ‘Mind the Gap.’ This months magazine also has all the local ANZAC Day Memorial Services and an interesting read ‘What is ANZAC Day?’ These can be found on pages 24 & 25. You will find some great ideas to keep you and your family busy in the What’s On section. On page 23, you will see Mernda CFA’s Annual Easter Egg Hunt. If you have something that may be of interest to our local community, please share it with us, so it can be include in What’s On. Fortress Road, Doreen This month Hannah ventured out in her gumboots and raincoat to play at Fortress Park, between the rain showers. Fortress Park is a very big park with two playgrounds. The first, is for younger children and the second for older. The younger playground has 3 slides, a monkey bar, 2 swings and many obstacles for walking over and climbing on and through. There is also 2 soccer goals situated near by. The park has tables and chairs perfect picnics, BBQs (which are not under cover), bins, and a drinking fountain. Unfortunately there are no public toilets. The older playground has a flying fox, and larger play equipment. There is also a half court of basketball, perfect to exhaust some energy. The park is surrounded by beau ful na ve gardens and bird life, to be explored. A special p from Hannah don’t forget to pack a towel when it is wet - to wipe down the swings and slides.
