Edi EdittorsLetter orsLetter Welcome to the April edition of Your Child in Whittlesea, Easter is almost here and the year is flying by to quickly! Can you believe school holidays are again, upon us? Promise yourself, that you will take time out for a quiet cuppa and have a look at some of the articles in this months magazine. There is an interesting read on the Benefit of the Beat, on page 8 and how Exercise + Child = Enhanced Brain Performance, can be found on page 6. On page 20, Sleep Glorious Sleep, something we could all do with a little more of. ‘Kids in the Kitchen’ has Jade as this months guest chef cooking a yummy family favourite Chocolate Ripple Cake with an Easter twist, on page 11. ‘Hanging with Hannah’ can be found on page 10, with Hannah out and about visiting Wellington Street Playground in Mernda. (This would be a great local playground to visit on a sunny Autumn day over the School Holidays.) If you are looking for some fun activities to keep your children busy over the School Holidays, have a look through the What’s On section, page 22. The Mernda CFA is running an Easter Egg Hunt fundraiser see page 9 for more details, and Lollipops Playland are hosting their annual Fun Filled Day for the Good Friday Appeal. This years Commemorative ANZAC Day Services can be found on page 25. Hannah visited Wellington street playground in Mernda this month. This local park and playground has plenty to offer your li le one - a trampoline, 2 swings, a large basket swing, 2 slides, a climbing wall, a monkey bar, a see-saw, 2 spinners, a balancing board, assorted climbing equipment including a tunnel. There is even a place to play shops with your friends or mummy. The park offers grassed areas for running and tumbling, and paths for riding bikes around, 2 park benches to sit and watch your children, 1 sheltered area with picnic table, 2 bbqs, 2 rubbish bins, a drink fountain and exercise equipment for grown ups. However, there are no toilets at this playground. Hannah’s p of the month - Even party dress and party shoes feel at home in the playground.(And when its sunny don’t forget your sunglasses!)

Ingredients
500ml thickened cream 1 tsp caster sugar 1 tsp vanilla essence 250g pkt of choc ripple biscuits Li le Easter Eggs and Easter Bunnies
Method Step 1 - Use an electric beater to beat cream, sugar and vanilla in a bowl un l ďŹ rm peaks form. Step 2 - Spread a li le of the cream mixture along a serving pla er to make the base. Stand 1 biscuit on its side and spread with cream mixture, Place another biscuit alongside and sandwich together. Con nue layering with cream mixture and remaining biscuits to form a log. Step 3 - Spread the remaining cream mixture over biscuit log tp cover Step 4 - Place in the fridge for a minimum of 6 hours to set.
