December really is the most exciting month - with all the child like wonder, excitement and anticipation. If only it wasn’t also the most hectic time of the year! The magazine this month has some great reading, on page 8 Tips on writing letters to Santa. On page 14 there is interesting article about the benefits of early music education. There are some great Survival Tips, on page 22 for Staying healthy over the holidays and we continue with part 2 - Simple Self Care Tip for busy mums on page 18. Christmas is a wonderful time of year for children, Kids Corner has a Elf colouring in to do and when that is completed maybe mum or dad can help write a ‘Letter to Santa’ . Tyler has been in the kitchen making Plum Pudding Chocolate Crackles, great for kids to make for Christmas parties or Christmas day, find the recipe on page 27. The community has a lot going on at this time of year - be sure to flick through to page 24 for What’s On. Don’t forget Summer is a great time to get out and enjoy the fantastic weather and our local parks and bush walking tracks. Hanging with Hannah can be found on page 10, visiting a local park in Doreen. I hope you enjoy reading the December/January magazine. Well, Summer is here and the Christmas holidays are fast approaching - there is no be er me to start visi ng the local park, for picnics, play dates with friends or just a quick trip to burn off a li le energy! Hannah visited Collingrove Park, Doreen this month and she had a lot of fun playing on all the play equipment. The park has swings, monkey bars, spiders web, a truck rocker, a clock some coun ng beads, a pretend shop front, things you can talk through, 2 slides for different ages and lots of climbing. The park also offers beau ful gardens with a large oval, paths for walking and riding. An undercover area, a bbq, two picnic tables, two park benches, a rubbish bin and a water fountain. Hannah’s p of the month - there is no excuse not to visit the park when the sun is shining ... but don’t forget your hat!

Ingredients 4 cups Rice Bubbles 1 cup Icing Sugar 1 cup Desiccated Coconut 3 tbs Cocoa 250g Copha White Chocolate Melts Spearmint Leaves Jaas

Method Step 1 - Place pa y pans into pa y pan trays. Step 2 - Combined Rice bubbles, Icing sugar, Desiccated Coconut, Cocoa and mix together. Step 3 - Melt Copha on the stove, leave to cool a li le then add to dry mixture and mix. Step 4 - Scoop mixed, mixture into pa y pans. Step 5 - Place in the refrigerator to set.
