Edi EdittorsLetter orsLetter Happy New Year to all our readers and welcome to the first edition of Your Child in Whittlesea for 2018. I hope you all had an enjoyable Christmas Holiday and are now excited to be heading back for another year of school or kindergarten. This year I have children in all 3 levels of school - kindergarten, primary and secondary which I think will make for some fun times ahead! This months magazine has some interesting articles, Back to School - A Teachers Perspective can be found on page 6. Page 10 has some handy hint for improving your child’s Study Habits and Homework, while page 24 has some clever ideas, 35 Best Play Ideas for Children, which maybe helpful to any parent running out of ways to keep the kids busy on the weekends. This month we have included a new page ‘Kids in the Kitchen with Darcy’ on page 27, which will feature a child friendly recipe each month. There will be different recipes to cater for all age groups throughout the year. If you have a favourite recipe that you would like Darcy to try cooking please email the magazine. With the beautiful weather around, there is still time to get outside and have fun. You can follow Hannah’s latest ‘Hanging with Hannah’ park adventure on page 12. h a n n a H h t i w Hanging Mernda Adventure Playground Mernda Village Drive, Mernda
Hanging with Hannah ventured to the Mernda Adventure Playground this month - Hannah had been asking to go to the ‘Pony Playground’ every me we drove past. The park is now a li le older and designed on 2 levels with walk ways between - the park has 2 slides, 2 climbing walls, 2 fireman poles, a monkey bars, see-saw and swings. There is also an under coverer sandpit, and a tractor to play on, a wooden maze and a cute wooden horse sculpture. (Hannah thought the Big ‘My Li le Pony’ was awesome - as you could play on him!) The park has 2 benches and a rubbish bin however, there is no under cover area, BBQ’s, drinking fountains or toilets. Tip of the month -Teddy’s also likes to have fun on the swings!

2 Cups Plain Flour 3 Teaspoons Baking Powder Pinch of Salt 2 Eggs (beaten) 1 1/2 Cups Milk 1/3 Cup Sugar 75grams Melted Bu er
Method Step 1 - Sieve Flour, baking powder and salt. Step 2 - Whisk eggs and milk together. Step 3 - Melt bu er Step 4 - Add sugar to the our mix, then add egg and milk mix while s rring. Step 5 - Add in melted bu er. Step 6 - Con nue s rring un l completely mixed and no lumps. Step 7 - Heat frying pan and add a li le bu er or kitchen spray. Step 8 - Use a ladle to put pancake mix into frying pan. Step 9 - Turn pancake when bubbles appear, con nue cooking un l golden on both sides.
