Edi t orsLetter EditorsLetter Hello and welcome to the start of Winter, Can you believe, that it is already June? With life being busy all the time it is important to always remember to take time out for yourself. This months magazine has some great articles to have a look at when you sit down for a quick cuppa. You will find The Benefits of LEGO on page 6. Page 12 has an interesting article An orange a day keeps colds away, and on page 8 you will find Bulling - what does it mean? Which could be very useful for parents. The Kids in Kitchen Mini Chef for this month is William - who dropped by to make a pot of Yummy Pumpkin Soup, to help us keep nice and warm during these cold winter months. The recipe can be found on page 11. Kids Corner this month, page 26 has a rainy day dot-to-dot and a science project. (Which could be made on day when playing outside is not an option.) With the arrival of Winter and the cooler wet weather, I know it is so much harder to get out and visit the park with our little ones. However, Hannah and I spent a lovely morning the other day at the park in cold rainy weather. Hannah wasn’t fazed at all, and it was a great chance to release some of the excess energy that had built up from being cooped up inside. The local park is great as you can duck out for just 20 minutes and it can make such a difference. (If wet always remember to pack the gumboots, a coat and a towel - to dry off the play equipment.) Hanging with Hannah can be found on page 10. I hope you enjoy reading the June edition, until next month,

Hannah ventured out to Oakbank Park in Whi lesea, on a very cold and rainy day to do this month’s park report. Oakbank Park is brand new and looks great. The park has 2 slides, 2 swings, a basket swing, a see-saw, a horse rocker, a round-about, a tunnel, lots of climbing nets, a climbing pole and a fireman’s pole. The park has a great undercover area - (which was handy to hide in during the rain showers!) A BBQ, 2 tables and chairs, 2 park benches, a drinking fountain, and an area which could be used as a story circle, however, no bins or toilets. Hannah’s p of the month - When there’s rain about, bring a towel to dry off the playground!

1.5kg Peeled, seeded, chopped pumpkin 1 Onion, ďŹ nely chopped 1 Litre vegetable stock 1 Cup cream Tsp grated or ground nutmeg Freshly ground black pepper, to taste Cream/Sour Cream and Chives to garnish
Method Step 1 - Place pumpkin, onion and stock in a large saucepan. Bring to the boil, heat and simmer for 20 minutes. Step 2 - Transfer mixture to a blender, in batches, and puree. Return to the saucepan. S r in Cream, nutmeg and pepper. Cook un l heated through. Serve with fresh crusty bread and cream/sour cream and chives.
