Edi t orsLetter EditorsLetter Welcome to the June Online Magazine, Mums and Dads you can almost breathe again, with the last of the school students returning to school next week ... no more home schooling, no more school Zoom sessions and hopefully a little peace and quite in the house. How much, have our lives changed over the last 10 weeks - as parents life has been a little crazy, with many of us trying to work from home, help kids with there home schooling and trying desperately to keep the house tidy. While never having a moment to yourself, it was like the holidays went on for 3 months! Well now is the time to stop and sit down with a hot cuppa and enjoy the quiet and read a few of this months articles. ‘Kids in the Kitchen’ this month has our two Teenage Guest Chefs cooking up some lovely soups to warm your winter blues away. See page 20 & 21 for the recipes. I am happy to announce ‘Hanging with Hannah’ is back. Thanks to the restrictions being eased Hannah has been out visiting the local Mernda Wetlands for a winter walk and Scavenger Hunt. ‘Hanging with Hannah’ can be found on page 10. ‘Kids Corner’, page 36 has plenty to offer - including a crossword and instructions on how to make Bath Paint. Unfortunately, again this month there is no What’s On secession, however, check out page 33, as The City of Whittlesea is running a Scavenger Hunt and I-Spy Program via there Facebook page for World Environment Day. Until next month stay safe,
Rachel

h a n n a H h t i w Hanging The Mernda Wetlands Mernda Village Drive
With restric ons easing Hannah ventured out with her family to look around the Mernda Wetlands. The wetlands can be found beside the Mernda Adventure Playground, on Mernda Village Drive and spread out along the Mernda Park Run trail. What a fantas c me she had however, the weather was not Melbourne’s finest with heavy rain showers before and a er the walk. The bad weather had its advantages with amazing puddle fun ... who doesn’t love running through the puddles even if you forget to wear your gumboots! (Though unlike Peppa Pig, Hannah did try and stay away from the Muddy Puddles ... however, temp ng!)

Throughout the walk there was hidden treasures to discover - there lake area currently has two swans that are nes ng, and many different types of ducks ... there a few different place around the lake that you can stop and watch the bird life. Other treasures included some large boulders for climbing on, huge trees for hide and seek, and a creek that was flowing heavily which allowed Hannah’s brother the opportunity to create himself an adventure about the Water Dragon. There where amazing leaves, spiders webs, giant birds nests at the top of very tall trees, crea ve natural tree forma ons and we found Hannah’s Scavenger Hunt was comple ng itself with all the amazing finds on offer! Hannah’s Tip of the Month - Why not explore what is available in your local park or reserve ... as there is lots to see and observe when you slow down and take a peek! (Next me, I’m taking Teddy as he always loves a good adventure outdoors!)

Again this month Tori has been keeping herself busy while staying at home and staying safe. She has been Zooming into school for classes and catching up on some backyard photography - (there where a lot of birds and bu erflies to take photos of and enjoy watching.) It was important for her to catch up with family and friends over the telephone ... especially for her Nana’s birthday! She also took me to learn how to e her shoe laces ... ready for her return to school and relaxed in the garden plan ng some herbs. However, her highlight was her mum se ng up a li le Flying Fox for some outside fun on a beau fully sunny winters day.
