The weather has been a little all over the place, some days nice and sunny, while others have been nasty and bleak. However, on those really cold and wet days I like to curl up with a hot cup of coffee and a warm blanket and read a good book. Or if you’re short of time, this month’s magazine has some interesting articles you could have a quick read through. I really enjoyed ‘Why should I send my child outdoors?’ and ‘Reading with Young Children.’ ‘Kids in the Kitchen’ this month, has a guest Mini Chef Darcy cooking Tzatziki Dip and Flat Bread. Great for a heathy afternoon snack or party finger food, page 27. Hanging with Hannah is on page 10, Hannah this month is looking back at a favourite park from June 2017, Hannah loved to visit this park as it allowed for her imagination to run wild, with play ideas. ‘Who doesn’t want to be a fairy or a pirate?’ This month the magazine has a fantastic book giveaway Kokey Koala. The review and entry details can be found on page 6. In What’s On this month - The Maples Early Leaning Centre is hosting a D.I.Y Big Freeze 7, supporting FIGHTMND to raise awareness and funds to help the campaign and the City of Whittlesea have their annual World Environment Celebration on again, see page 20 & 21 for more information. Dalmeny Way, Doreen This month in Hanging with Hannah we wanted to look back at a park that Hannah visited in June 2017. Hannah found this park very exci ng as she could play freely using her imagina on. With her coat and gumboots on and a towel in hand for drying the play equipment she set out to play. Bu ercross Park is a small hill top park with amazing views. The playground is perfect for young children. A highlights are the row of colourful Fairy Toadstools, a stone wall for climbing through and on, a coloured balls sculpture, a fantas c sandpit a wooden hut, basket swing, swing set, a spinner and a wooden boat complete with steering wheel . The park has a grassy area for playing, undercover BBQ facili es, tables and chairs, rubbish bins and a drink fountain. Hannah really enjoyed the freedom of the park - playing make believe. It is a great space to allow li le imagina ons to take ﬂight. Next me Hannah visits she will bring along her fairy wings and pirate hat.

T ZAT ZIKI DIP & FLAT BREAD with Darcy

Ingredients

2 Cups Greek Yogurt 1 Cup of Self-rising Flour 1 Cucumber (seeded, finely grated and drained) 2 Cloves Garlic (finely minced) 1 Tsp Lemon Zest 1 Tbs Fresh Lemon Juice 2 Tbs Chopped Fresh Dill Kosher Salt & Black Pepper

Method - Tzatiki Dip: 1. In a medium bowl, whisk together the 1 cup of yogurt, cucumber, garlic, lemon zest, lemon juice and dill. 2. Season with salt and pepper. 3. Chill.

Method - Flat Bread

1. In a large bowl, mix together 1 cup of yogurt and flour until it forms a smooth dough. 2. Transfer the dough to a floured surface. Divide into 4 equal parts. 3. Roll out each piece of dough to about 8 inches (20cm) in diameter, using plenty of flour to prevent sticking or tearing. 4.
