Welcome to Our November Magazine What a month October was - with schools finally going back to some face to face learning and how good is it to at last catch up with family and friends? This year has been very long and yet seems to be flying by really fast ... The Melbourne Cup Carnival has arrived (though very different again this year), however, the 4 day weekend should be nice - for some little outdoor catch ups. When playing outside please remind your children of the increased danger of snakes during the warmer months, there is fantastic article in this month’s magazine Snakes ... on the Move Again, page 22. Kids Corner has us all enjoying Bugs this Spring with a cute Spot the Difference - adding a little fun and outdoor magic! While in the Kids Kitchen we are making some Yummy Homemade Pizzas with Mini Chef Hannah, great for eating outside during a Spring Backyard Picnic. Our What’s On page is back, take a look at page 20 to see what’s happing in the Community and Hanging with Hannah can be found this month on page 10, with a look at Overland Blvd Playground. This months magazine has some fantastic reading, so now the kids are back at school make a nice cuppa and sit back and enjoy. Teaching Children about Money, can be found on page 6. Page 18, has a useful article on Sleep Heath for Your 3 to 5 Year Olds and Little Athletics Family Fun & Fitness is on page 14. Family Support Update 0ne of the privileges of representing my local community is that I can help to deliver reforms which make a huge difference to families. I understand the pressures that families are under, having become a parent at age 19 and raising 2 boys into fine young men. I'm delighted to share what family support the Andrews Government is delivering for parents. Over the past 7 years, we've made a clear commitment to delivering for Victorian parents and their children, ensuring that our kids have the best quality of life right from the moment they are born.

IVF Funding In the most recent Victorian State Budget, we committed $70 million towards establishing a public system for IVF, making it easier for Victorians who are struggling with infertility to start a family. This Victorian-first initiative is a game changer because it will lower the cost of IVF - helping 4000 Victorians every year, saving them on average $10,000. In addition, the creation of a public IVF will also feature a public sperm and egg bank. A publicly owned and operated IVF scheme is a huge win for prospective parents, particularly those who would otherwise struggle to cover the prohibitively high costs of fertility services under the current arrangement.

Sick Leave for Casual Workers The pandemic has also highlighted how unfair and dangerous it can be for a worker to have to choose between keeping their co-workers and community safe and paying the bills. That is why we are launching a two year pilot scheme to provide 5 days of paid sick leave for casual workers The fact is, we know that women have disproportionately shouldered the burden of this pandemic, so that's why this pilot scheme is being rolled out to female-dominated industries like private aged care, cleaners, hospitality staff, and supermarket workers. The pilot scheme will allow those in insecure work who are unwell to stay at home when they are unwell, reducing the spread of illness. In the workplace, which we know is one of the key vectors of transmission of Covid-19. Nobody should have to choose between going to work so they can feed their kids or staying home because they aren't well.

program, providing support during the transition to parenthood and the first years of their childs life. The Baby bundles are an Australian first program, and they contain essentials such as a nappy bag, a teething toy, and a first aid kit. The packs also contain essential information on safe sleeping and

wrapping, parenting information from the Raising Children Network and Kidsafe, and four picture books by Victorian authors.

Free 3 year old Kindergarten from 2022 Another key reform delivered by the Andrews Government has been the introduction and rollout of Free Kinder. The Free Kinder initiative is an absolute game changer for Victorian families, as it will see the government step in to cover the cost of the fees for kinder, giving parents one less thing to worry about. Free Kinder delivers 5 hours per week of fully funded three-year old kinder to start, with this being progressively raised to 15 hours per week by 2029. This includes programs at both long day care centres and standalone kindergartens, with parents able to look for local services offering kindergarten programs with the Labor Government's 'Kinder Tick'. Enrolments for 2022 are now open for kindergarten and childcare services in Whittlesea. Overland Blvd has a cute li le Playground in amongst the lovely parkland. Hannah really enjoyed hiding in the bushes and climbing trees, she was even more excited to be able to share her park report with her best friend Scarle . The playground has play equipment which is be er suited to young children. There are two slides, a small climbing wall and some other climbing equipment, plus a monkey bars for the bigger kids. There are a few extras, a Tic-Tac- Toe game, a clock, a measuring wall and a play shop window. The park oﬀers some under covered sea ng and tables, park benches, bbq, bin and a drink tap. However, there are no toilets. Hannah’s p for the month - Lockdown is over, so now let’s get outside and enjoy some fun with our friends.

PIZZA with Hannah

Ingredients 1 1/2 Cups Self Raising Flour (plus extra more for Kneading) 1 Cup Plain Greek Yoghurt Cooking Spray

Direc ons Preheat oven for 30 minutes on 250C Mix flour and Greek yoghurt together in a big mixing bowl. Transfer to a clean work bench, floured with self raising flour. Knead dough, (Approximately 8 - 20 minutes.) adding more flour as needed to keep dough from being too s cky. Make dough into a ball. Spray a 12 inch pizza tray with cooking spray and spread the dough to the edges of the tray. (Double or triple the recipe if making more than one pizza.) Cooking me 15 - 20 minutes.
