NORTH YORK MOORS RAILWAY

Velcome weary traveller... ha ha haaaaa (Vampire voice. You got it) So, it's October in York, is it? If you're from the city anyway, this is old news, but if you're a visitor from distant lands (and that includes anywhere beyond the outer ring road) prepare thyself for the ghouls. You see, York is recognised as the most haunted city in Europe, and we have so many ghosts that they are recognised as a cultural group by Amnesty International. With Halloween approaching you can expect to see a fair few ghosts and ghouls creeping

about after dark. They go around in groups of either males or females, appear to be dressed in skimpy and and light clothing despite the chilly weather, and speak in Geordie accents. Trust us, they are not hen and stag parties – those are actual ghosts. But there is ghost hinting to be had in far more civilised settings, as many of the big attractions are laying on their own Halloween celebrations, and there is no chance that those 'ghosts' will belch loudly in your face, or flash their knickers at you. York's Chocolate Story, York Dungeon,

and The Museums Trust are all putting on family-friendly frighteningly fun frolics. If you consider the spooky season to be “lame” and you consider yourself far too “cool” for that, relax, man. October in York is still bursting at the seams with things to do and see, and this 'ere magazine has the details of the very best. Keep us handy in your pocket or bag and your time in York will be awesome!

Have a gruesome... sorry, great, month!

Get in touch.... we would love to hear from you! Visit whatsoninyork.org RACHAEL 01904 735218 rachael@yourlocallink.co.uk
