Editor's Note Hello all, Another month has flown by and at last we have been enjoying some beautiful summer weather! I went along and took photos of our lovely Sarah Wilkinson at Stonham Barns. I hope you enjoy reading all about the owl handling course, everyone had such a nice day (see page 20). It would make a fantastic gift for anyone who loves owls. Also I photographed people arriving at The Eye Ball in aid of the East Anglian Air Ambulance, it was so nice to see so many familiar faces arriving at the Eye Town Hall,
supporting such a great cause. To my special friends Kathy and George, wishing you all the best for your new venture The Limes, I know you will continue to do an amazing job! Now I’m looking forward to the school summer holidays spending some time with the children out and about. We hope to have some weekends away in the caravan. DissFuture – Your Diss, Your Future.
Your Local Magazine's Editor.
How important is it for Diss to be a desirable place to live for you and your family? Diss Town Council (DTC) want to know your views and have launched DissFuture – Your Diss, Your Future. DissFuture will enable the people who live, work and visit Diss to have their say in the future development of their town. A questionnaire will be in the next edition of Diss Matters in November/December. It will also be available online or you can come and talk to us at the various events we’ll be holding around the town. The consultation will enable DTC to understand your priorities and concerns. The range of questions will cover the following areas: 1. Environment 2. Housing 3. Local Economy 4. Society, Community & Culture 5. Tourism 6. Transport 7. Diss Town Council Using the results of the DissFuture consultation, DTC will
develop a plan to solve problems identified and protect the things you value the most. Some of them won’t be the responsibility of DTC, but we’ll know who is and with the evidence from you to prove that it needs doing, we’ll have a much better chance of achieving success.
It's a great pleasure to introduce our newest member of the team here at ‘Your Local’ Sarah Wilkinson, our editor! Sarah is a local person and is animal crazy so look out for lots more animal features popping up each month as time goes on. Working in Journalism is her dream job - her passion, creativity and local knowledge make her the perfect person for the job! We are sure you will all enjoy reading Sarah’s editorial and ‘Sarah's Travels’.

The demand for adult yoga classes in the UK continues to grow with over half a million people reported to have taken up the exercise. There are already plenty of adult classes on offer in our area but now the kid’s yoga scene could also be set to take off. Local school children have been enjoying the benefits of the practice in a recent set of taster classes at

Thorndon school in North Suffolk. The sessions taught by British Wheel of Yoga Teacher, Clare Hall, who lives in nearby Thornham Magna, have focussed on developing physical strength, flexibility and balance; improving concentration and teamwork, sparking imagination and relaxation. Clare sees multiple benefits for our youngsters and hopes to encourage more mini-yogi’s to take up the practice, “As well as promoting physical activity, yoga can offer kids tools to deal with challenges such as exam stress and bad posture. It’s also fun and offers an alternative way of learning key elements of the curriculum.” Thorndon head-teacher Tamsin Little was also enthusiastic about the new sessions and the classes are expected to continue next year.

Raising your spirits The Big Sing in Diss. We certainly live in a very volatile w o r l d with more and more countries descending into civil unrest. Back to our nation and we find those with less or no savings struggling to get by, I never thought it would ever be necessary to have food banks, 24 of which are active in this county alone. Meanwhile there is a generation of youngsters who have left school and universities where there is little or no prospect of getting any sort of work. So many people look fed up and smiles are becoming very rare. In Diss St Mary's Parish Church can work wonders albeit briefly and raise your spirits. First of all the summertime concerts that are put on for you to come along and enjoy can give a slight respite and lift your spirits whilst sitting and listening to many different classical artists performing. But here comes the annual August event which will raise your spirits for its 70 minute duration. Yes 'The Big Sing' is back on Sunday August 11th at 6.30pm and for all the many followers of this event over the
past eight years will know that you will go home on a high with singing ringing in your ears for it is an occasion where you don't just sit and listen but get up and sing every single hymn in a top ten form. Your requests, which are many, have been sorted into a top ten and it is fun to come along to see if your request has been included. For those who come early to get a good seat, although every seat is good, can listen to the popular Diss Salvation Army Band playing a warm up at 6pm and this year you can watch a small video on the screen about the work of the Quidenham Children's Hospice the charity chosen for this year. Again this occasion, as every year, is boosted by our organist and church choir who help make this a Spirit lifting event. I am very grateful to them the band and of course YOURSELVES for without the town and community support this joyful event would never take place. I look forward to seeing as many of you the general public on the night and remember you don't have to be a church goer to be present EVERYONE is welcome to join in this happy occasion. The eyes have it as Norfolk family opticians businesses join forces
Working together to help others.
Two highly-regarded Norfolk family optician businesses have joined forces, with Dipple & Conway acquiring the Diss-based practice of A Stodel.
Introduction: Worldwide more than 800,000 men, women & children are trafficked each year. Women are sold for £500-£8000. Background: The Salvation Army founded by General William Booth in 1865 have a long history of working with vulnerable & marginalized people. In July 2011 they took responsibility for delivering the uk government's contract & have assisted over 800 victims. Current position: In March this year Andy Peddle, a salvationist from High Wycombe, visited Diss Salvation Army as part of his walkathon around the UK raising awareness & money to continue this important work. Following a presentation by Andy, both the corps as a whole & individuals sponsored him.

Future position: The Diss Salvation Army would like to support him further. They are planning a miniwalk of one & a half miles for all members (young & old) of the congregation, starting & finishing in Sunnyside with a drink station in Diss park. Planning is ongoing - an early afternoon start is likely from Sunnyside on Sunday 11th August 2013 the day of ‘The Big Sing’. Each individual will sponsor themselves & try to obtain sponsorship from friends but not those in their own congregation. The Walkathon team invite all members of ‘Diss Churches Together’ to join the walk which will not only highlight this issue but show the town of Diss what can be achieved through prayer & by working together.

Dipple & Conway is owned by James, Damian and Robert Conway, three grandsons of Thomas Conway, who co-founded the business in Norwich in 1916. Andrew and Judith Stodel will be staying on as consultants for at least a year, to ensure a seamless transition for clients into the Dipple & Conway family. “It is a very exciting development” said Mr Conway. “Both firms are high-end Norfolk family businesses. We both pride ourselves on long-held reputations. Our ethos and business models are so similar. Andrew and Judith are delighted that clients they have looked after from the first days of their practice will carry on receiving the high degree of personal attention. And Dipple & Conway are delighted to have acquired a firm of A Stodel’s reputation.” Mr Conway said the move will enhance the expectations of their clients who will gain significant benefits from the move.

Diss Community Fete St. Mary's Church, Diss. On a hot sunny day the grounds of St. Mary's, Diss was packed with people attending the Community Fete which raised, to date, £1,018.00. Special thanks to all who ran stalls and those who attended. Special thanks also to Park Radio
who hosted the event and an even bigger thanks to the Diss Air Training Corps guys who did most of the donkey work setting up and clearing away heavy tables and chairs amongst other things. We hope to see you all again next year. Fete committee.
Life is like a Rubik’s cube Waveney Christian Event Central. A Rubik’s cube has over 43,000,000,000,000,000,000 permutations which is a few more than you will find in Forrest Gump’s box of chocolates! If you imagine that the day you are born you are handed a brand new Rubik’s cube. You make a wrong turn here and there and, like a Rubik’s cube, trying to fix it can mean you end up in more of a mess than when you started. Other people will pull you around and drop you and you will find yourself more and more unrecognisable from where you started. Now, let’s just imagine that to get in to heaven you need to have a completed undamaged Rubik’s cube on arrival. You could spend your entire life trying to solve it yourself or you could even try pulling the stickers off, but this is a very painful process, just ask any man who has had their legs waxed for charity! Unfortunately you will
find that no sooner have you completed it the world makes a mess of it again. I don’t know about you but I don’t want to spend my whole life trying to fix a Rubik’s cube or hiding away in fear of it getting messed up. So, what is the best solution? I know someone who is awesome at fixing life because he designed it. He lived on earth, died on a cross and rose from the dead and his name is Jesus. He carried a completed undamaged Rubik’s cube with him all the way through, so he knows how to do it. If we ask him into our lives he will not only share with us the way to turn to fix things but when we arrive at heavens door he will be there to exchange our messed up, beaten up lives for his completed and undamaged one. Attleborough Heritage Group is publishing a series of self-guided walks round the historic streets of the Town. The walks stop at houses and other buildings of interest along the route and give fascinating details of their origins and owners. To date, three of the seven planned walks have been published – Queen’s Road, Connaught & New North

Roads, and Station Road – all available as illustrated booklets. The publications have been researched, compiled and edited by members of the Group and draw primarily on the wealth of written, cartographic and photographic material held in the Heritage Group archive. The booklets are a logical next step from the Summer time town walks undertaken by the Group over the past few years and aim to provide visitors and Attleborough citizens alike with a glimpse into the town’s history. Attleborough Sainsbury’s helped boost funds for the Wymondham based charity Star Throwers by presenting a cheque for £2500.00 to Steven Ho the Charity's Manager. The presentation took place outside their Charity Shop in Wymondham, along with shop volunteers Jutta and Ken Mckenzie Smith. The cheque was presented by Karen Watts, Store Manager and colleagues Linda Lemon and Chris Smith, all three of which participated in a sponsored walk
from Knettishall Heath to Cromer with other colleagues from the store earlier this year. The walk helped raise £1000.00 of the year's total by colleague sponsorship across the store and from family and friends. The rest of the money was raised from the sale of Star Throwers merchandise in the store, trolley raffles and kind donations from customers and colleagues. The money will continue to fund the complementary services offered at the care centre. Throughout the year grocery donations of tea & coffee have also been sent to the charity for use at various coffee mornings by the store and many staff have baked cakes for events such as their recent strawberry tea afternoon to help raise money at the centre. Sainsbury’s would like to thank all customers and colleagues for their support during 2012/2013.

Who was she? Young Lady Photographed by Cleer S. Alger. Who was she, the pretty young lady photographed by Cleer S. Alger in the 19th century? The picture came up on eBay recently and I managed to get it for ÂŁ10; but long to know who she was. I have been a Trustee of the Alger pictures for many years; and am duty bound to promote them. From my unique position as museum manager and Diss Town Guide editor, I am ideally situated to do this. In the museum there is a section on Alger Senior and Junior, showing where the son met his death in a road accident in 1903. It was on a steep hill called Sunrising, on the OxfordshireWarwickshire border, when the family were on their way to Stratford-on-Avon. The brakes of their open-top Wolseley car failed, it
hit the bank at speed and Alger and his son were thrown out and killed. They are buried in Diss cemetery. But the group responsible for the pictures is not the most functional of Trusts. In fact we have not met for about six years, have no Chairman, no elected officers and never receive any reports or accounts. The original pictures, found in a Diss attic, are in the Suffolk Record Office. The collection is curated by a local man who is rather possessive of them. We only had a meeting in 2007 so that he could protest about me using some of the prints in the Town Guide. When, in 2003, I suggested marking the centenary of Alger Junior's death, I got a roasting letter back again, saying that it was none of my business. Is it time to wind up the Trust, or could we make a go of it? Basil Abbott, Diss Museum.

Eye Ball Magical Ball in Eye In aid of East Anglian Air Ambulance. On 29th June 2013 a magical ball was held at Eye Town Hall. The ball which was held in aid of the East Anglian Air Ambulance was organised by Bruce Salter. Bruce has been the owner of The Handyman in Eye for a year, having worked there for his brother-in-law for two years. He is helped by Oliver Green, who has been a familiar face at The Handyman for over 20 years. Bruce had a very personal reason for putting on the ball, as he explains: “On my daughters 5th birthday, October 2nd 2012, she careered straight through a glass door. She was running in excitement, went to push open the door and her hand went straight through” explains Bruce “she had completely slashed her wrist, going through veins and arteries. The first responder arrived very quickly and stopped the bleeding. He then rang the air ambulance”. April Ebbage, age 15, contacted the East Anglian Air Ambulance this year and found out that it costs £2270.00 every time they do a flight! So, she set out to raise this amount. Bruce and his partner really wanted to help with this so they decided to organise the ball. “Everyone arrived in their ‘black ties and ball gowns’, 156 people in total with over 80% being from Eye. We had food from Bakewell Catering and music from the band ‘The Outlaws’ who were brilliant!” So, how much did they raise… over £4500.00!! Double their target, with more still coming in. Bruce would like to thank all the people of Eye who supported them “thank you to everyone, including all those who donated raffle prizes”. A wonderful night was had by all.

Diss Carnival Out and about with the...
Meet Alice Cater Find out more about Diss Carnival Queen. Alice Cater has always been incredibly shy. So when Heather, at the Tudor Bakehouse, suggested she apply for Diss Carnival Queen she said ‘no way, I couldn’t ever do that!’ She got a bit of a shock a few weeks later when she found out Heather had applied for her. Having had to deal with bullying and seriously lacking in confidence, Alice really didn’t want to draw attention to herself but her mum encouraged her to go for it. So she did! And she is so glad that she did. Since leaving school Alice, aged 18, has become a self-employed carer “I absolutely love it” says Alice “my confidence has improved and it has changed my life”. Alice’s

job is very important to her. In her spare time she loves to spend time with her family and friends. She also enjoys music and says that she is “a rock chick at heart!” Now, becoming the Carnival Queen has helped her even more. In her new role she has been introduced to some local businesses; Thurlow Nunn, Gillings of Diss and Orchard Frames. “It’s been so nice to meet people and to find out who they are and what they’re like. Your Local Magazine has really helped to make a worthwhile experience and to keep the buzz going. I am really enjoying all the things I have been doing as the Carnival Queen and the confidence it has given me”. INGREDIENTS 50g of Strawberries | 50g of Raspberries | 50g of Redcurrants 30g of Caster Sugar (or sugar alternative for extra healthy) CHAMPAGNE JELLY 150ml Hot Water | 25g Caster Sugar 250ml Champagne or Sparkling Wine (Rosé is also good) 2 Leaves of Gelatine

Summer berry compote wi th Jelly and Vanilla scented crèChampagne me fraîche
Method 1. Simply combine all the ingredients into a sauce pan and cook on a low heat unt il soft, but not pureed – set aside to cool.
CHAMPAGNE JELLY 1. Place the water and sug ar into a small pan over a low heat, until the sugar has dis solved. Bring to the boil and simmer for 5minutes then remove from the heat. 2. Pour the Champagne into a pan and add the Gelatine until soft. Remove the gelatine and add to the water and sugar mix and stir well and stir until completely dissolved, then add to the champagne. 3. Divide the mix equally between 2 – 3 glass tumble rs and place into the fridge for 5-6 hours until set. 4. Place the fruit mixture on top of the jelly as much or as little as you like. 5. Top with Crème Fraich e and Serve.

Popular Panto Performer Is Back…Without His Lavish Frocks! It may be unlucky for some, but thirteen is a number to treasure for Norwich Theatre Royal’s popular pantomime personality Richard Gauntlett. He has just announced he is back for his thirteenth festive spectacular. The popular entertainer, who is best known as the Dame in the show, is taking on the role of Buttons in this year’s production, which runs from December 17th to January 19th. Richard, who will

also be writing and directing the production, said: “I can’t wait to be back in Norwich. This year’s show is going to be a magical feast of fun for all the family. explains Rachel. “Whenever I have spare time I will do my art, I lose complete track of time”. So much so that on her most recent piece she was working on it up until 5am! Within 12 hours of completion she has started her next piece. Most of Rachel’s work is available to purchase but she will also do commissions. She has already done a portrait as a wedding present and a Father’s Day commission. Her pieces range on size from A4 to A1 and she will draw from real life and photographs. You can see Rachel’s work for yourself as her first exhibition

When asked how this came about Rachel said “I received a telephone call asking if I would like to do an exhibition. They had seen my work and offered to fund the hire of the gallery space”. Rachel has had no formal training, she is very modest but her natural talent can be seen in her work, as you will see at the Upstairs Gallery in Beccles from 13th to 20th September. Sarah's Travels Flying with the Owls
‘Understanding Owls Course’ at Suffolk Owl Sanctuary. I have been passionate about owls for years. I love them; I even trained to study owl pellets. However, my dream has been to fly owls. So you can imagine how excited I was to receive an ‘Understanding Owls’ course as a gift. The course starts with a cuppa (always good!) and getting to know the falconer, Dean (second left), and other people. There were two of us, me and Gail Flowers. We had a spectator each, Gail, her husband, Mark (third left) and me, my mum, Jan. We soon went into the sanctuary and Dean took us round the birds teaching us about each one. Although very informative we also had a lot of fun. This was followed by the anticipated flying session. We flew
a Boobook Owl named Auckland and a Great Horned Owl called Birkett (bottom left) Birkett was named after Birketts Solicitors for their 150th anniversary and has been to many of the firm’s celebratory events across the region It was amazing!! To be this close to such a magical creature, as it stood on my arm and stared into my eyes or as it swooped towards me, wings spread… words cannot describe! It was a day I will remember forever. The Falconer – Dean Winham Dean’s interest in birds kicked in The course was a present for my 50th, getting face-to-face with nature was a privilege, a pleasure. We met the Falconer, who was very knowledgeable and then a walk around the owls. We then flew two owls which was a highlight, as this beautiful bird sat on my wrist and then turned and stared at me with its huge eyes, I could see all its beautiful markings. All too soon it was over. My favourite "little owl" proved elusive; fourth time lucky "lily" graced us with her presence, to round off a perfect day, one I will never forget. said Gail.
when he was 13. A local gentleman took him ‘under his wing’ (excuse the pun!) and Dean helped with bird training, cleaning and feeding. Aged 14 he took a course in falconry and at 15 he had his first bird. He continued to volunteer, until he took a job at Colchester Zoo. It was at 21 that he started working at the Suffolk Owl Sanctuary. “No two days are the same at the Owl Sanctuary. An average day starts with putting the birds out. Food is then prepared and night boxes cleaned” describes Dean. “Aviaries are cleaned and then the falconers fly the birds. At any time wild birds may be brought in. We also deal with lots of people and travel to shows and schools.” What advice would Dean give to budding falconers? “To start, read as many books as possible. Do an introductory course, like this half day course, to see if it’s of interest and then move on to a 5 day course – these are also run at the Sanctuary. Also volunteer and get as much experience possible.” So, what did Dean say when asked if he had a favourite bird? ‘Oh yes! That would be Pungu, the Bateleur Eagle. Pungu knows me so well that I could almost give her a hug!’ Please don’t try that at home… From the word go we were welcomed, all the staff were friendly and very informative, you could tell it’s not just a job to them. I was a paying guest to accompany my wife, not cheap, but to see the unbridled joy on my wife’s face as the wing of an owl brushed her cheek ... priceless! A day we shall never said Mark. forget. Men; sit up and take note as its not just a Woman's concern. You're a middle-aged man with an expanding waistline, moobs and cholesterol levels just edging into the danger zone. Your muscles are a little flabby and so is your sex drive. You probably blame it all on lack of exercise and a little too much beer & wine. But the problem could be something more insidious - you could have too much of the female hormone oestrogen and lowered testosterone levels. Men produce testosterone and also need certain levels of oestrogen to aid the reproductive system but it is when these levels are out of sync that problems begin to occur. Symptoms of low testosterone include: • Decreased libido • Low
cognition • Less muscle mass • Increased fat levels around chest and abdomen• Decreased fertility • Low energy. The role of testosterone goes far beyond big biceps and a monstrous deadlift. When it's high you'll boost libido, have more energy, and protect yourself against osteoporosis. The brain loves testosterone, too. When you have high physiological levels of testosterone it boosts cognitive functions such as memory and attentiveness. When there is too much oestrogen it is not good - it raises men’s risk of blood clots, encourages middle-aged spread and possibly even affects the prostate.
Stress & Testosterone Cortisol and testosterone are both hormones produced by the adrenal glands (the glands that sit atop the kidneys in the human body). Both hormones are affected during times of stress. Cortisol is increased and released into the body during stress; testosterone is forcibly reduced in output. Generally, both levels return to normal once a stressor has passed, but if that doesn't happen within a reasonable amount of time, then low testosterone levels continue, to the detriment of the body. Ways of increasing testosterone • Start weight training using heavy compound exercises.
• Do your main lifts at the beginning of your training using lots of large muscle groups… dead-lifts, squats, pull-ups and incline bench press etc. • Start a regular pattern of exercise keeping it shorter and more intense • Take supplements Vit D3, fish oils for fat metabolism, amino acids to prevent muscle break down, Zinc and magnesium aspartate at bedtime • Get plenty of sleep, take rest days from training regularly. • Reduce stress as much as possible • Avoid going long periods without food especially after a workout To get started at the gym call us at Fit Club and start your journey to a new healthier and balanced you.

Larter and Ford has had a long history in the town of Diss. The site used to be a Foundry and was established by the Aldridge brothers in 1832. The building used to stretch right back as far as Barclays. Unfortunately, it burnt down in 1938; it was then bought by Mr. Larter and Mr. Ford in 1940 and re-opened as Larter and Ford. Today in 2013 the business is still run under the same name, after many, many years and is still supplying

Diss with all its Hardware and Cookware needs. Julian Mason had worked at Larter and Ford part time for 7 ½ years, when it came up for sale, and with his brother-inlaw Carl Edwards they decided to purchase it. When asked why they came to this decision Julian said “I had worked at Larter and Ford for some time and I knew that Carl had sold his newspaper delivery
business and was looking for something else, so we thought ‘why not?!’” Julian and Carl have known each other for about 40 years and are good friends. They have also run football teams for the last 10 years so they work very well together. Julian had previously worked at Hamlins in Diss for 35 years before being made redundant in 1995. At this

Wotcha!... How are yer diddlin? Fair t' middlin?' I was talking to my brother Doug about the time he rigged up a loud speaker on our market garden at Blo Norton so we could listen to pop music while we were working. A lady across the road used to shout, “Shut that b----y row off,” but our dad (a disciplinarian) didn't ask us to turn it off. He must have enjoyed it as well! That came to mind as I remember picking beans to the song, 'Beans In Your Ears!' We marketed runner and dwarf beans, and as we grew the runners on the ground we had to make sure they looked as straight as possible in the packing process. I've just completed my broad bean harvest on the allotment and it yielded 13kg (28.66lbs). That's about half last year's total with one double row fewer. Its been so dry that the plants were dying. I always treat the broad bean harvest like the pea harvest of old – remember those, when huge machines were working all over East Anglia? So I wait until the broad beans are just the right size, and then I go in with a big whirring noise, flapping my arms, and pick the lot! Dew yew keep on troshin' and remember, Diss is a cittaslow town and slow watering is best. Use a trickle line, soaker hose or – for shrubs and trees – a bucket with a small hole in the bottom. The Limes Retirement Home Care with a Difference
A visit to The Limes Residential Home in Mellis - A Home from Home.
Kathy Beckford originally hailed from Essex but has lived in Yaxley for 16 years. Having previously owned her own tack shop and livery yard, 10 years ago she started working at The Limes Residential Home, Mellis,
as a carer. She quickly went from carer to senior carer to deputy manager and then 4 years ago she took over as manager. The home went into administration in 2010 and Kathy and husband George bought the home in November 2012. “We are still continuing with the same level of care and quality” explains Kathy “we are very family orientated. I am the owner/manager so this gives us a huge advantage over big companies; I am always at the home and I know all the

residents. All of my family treats The Limes as a second home. I’ve had so much support from my husband George and my 5 children who have helped with all the planning and redecorating and also our ongoing re-furbishments” All of the food at The Limes is traditional, home cooked and sourced locally. They grow their own herbs, and soon vegetables too, in the 3 acre garden and all of the residents are involved. If they choose they can rest, in the
tranquil settings on the decking surrounding the beautiful summerhouse. Soon there will be chickens, maybe a goat and hopefully a horse. They already have a house cat named Tigger and visiting pets are always welcome, as are human visitors who will be offered refreshments when at The Limes. “We allow all the residents to get involved” says Kathy As many of the staff have been at The Limes for a number of years they know the residents
well and it makes for a relaxed atmosphere. “We have 25 staff altogether, plus 4 volunteers. We make sure we have a good amount of staff here at any one time so that there is time to sit and spend time with the residents” The home has its own minibus and the residents have trips out every week “we also like to get involved in local village goings on” says Kathy. At The Limes Residential Home there are many in-house services. A hairdresser visits
As well as the main home The Limes also offers independent living cottages in the grounds. This offers independence with food, entertainment, cleaning and an alarm system. We spoke to Dorothy Bessie Jones who lives in one of these cottages…
It is a very, very nice home. On 13th November 2013 I will have lived here for 9 years and in all that time no member of staff has ever been nasty or bad tempered or ever refused me anything. It all has a lovely family feel. Everything is kept clean and bright and there are always nice fresh flowers. The food is nice and there is always more than one alternative. Living in one of the cottages it enables me to hold on to my independence for as long as I can. I love to read and I can sit in quiet and do so, or, if I choose listen, to my music. There are many opportunities for fun with Bingo, indoor bowls, word games and cards. “We also have several outside entertainers visit the home. As well as these regular activities, we celebrate all the birthdays and special occasions with cake and a special tea and in September we will be holding a Macmillan coffee morning” describes Kathy.
