Brucedale
CHAPEL
1555 Olympic Highway, Brucedale An opportunity to purchase a piece of Riverina history becomes a reality on the 24th March when this iconic property is presented for Auction. Only a 10 minute drive north of Wagga, lies this Tuscan inspired home and refurbished chapel. Originally built in 1876 and being situated on 1.5 acres, these meticulously maintained grounds provide an established and stunning venue for weddings and other functions. The main house is simply beautiful with tasteful fixtures and fittings, the French doors opening out to the front porch are over 100 years old, coming from the dividing wall at Mt Erin archives and have been cut and re-glassed to fit into the house. In turn with more history the French doors leading from the second bedroom to the private patio were imported from Reims, France after the owners fell in love with them during one of their international journeys. The interior boasts two large bedrooms, both with built in robes, plus an open study or home office, two bathrooms and an open plan combined living and kitchen area. The kitchen offers a butlers pantry and is very spacious with an abundance of cupboards. Timber concertina windows open from the kitchen to the light filled second living area, or formal dining area. The shed offers an abundance of opportunities to store cars, boats, caravans, tools or any extra furniture. Inside the shed is a fully self contained one bedroom studio apartment, complete with a kitchenette, bathroom and split system air conditioning. A separate office is located in the shed which also has three phase power, fans and multiple entries. This is an incredible space.

Many styles of
GARDEN EDGING By pennie scott
What sort of garden do you like; formal, cottage, natural, layered, permaculture, one colour of flowers, or all-green no-care concrete? Once you’ve decided on what you enjoy looking at, the amount of time you’ll spend maintaining your garden, if you want an outdoor living area, if you have (digging) pets, or no fences at all, the style of your garden will emerge. Most gardens have lawns and, if you are the mower in the family, a neat edge to mow against is one of the major reasons for a choice of permanent edging on garden beds. There is
the military look with laser-sharp edges and not a blade of grass dare spread itself over that border where the initial installation may be expensive. However, concreted-in-brick-edging lasts decades.
organic types of edging materials continue that theme. Long branches, rocks and pebbles, short lengths of timber standing upright and low-growing ground covers make appropriate edging for this informal garden style.
Steel cordon is very popular as an edging material at present, and, when it comes in lengths of up to 10 metres, very upright edges are a cinch to install very quickly.
Once you know what style of garden you want, head to Pinterest for inspiration and then design according to your style and amount of time you don’t want to spend maintaining your garden.
If you’re a cottage garden person where plants self-seed and the plants organise themselves in communities (as they do in Nature), more
(Hint: think about repurposing materials as garden edges and get very creative.)

WEEKLY INSPIRATION
Decorating Tips For
KID’S ROOMS
By Inspirations Paints Wagga
From baby nursery to teenage retreat, there’s a bevy of decorating options when it comes to painting your child’s room. Here are five tips to delight your little (or not so little) ray of sunshine. If you have any questions please call in and see us at 18 Dobney Avenue and speak to Allan, Tracy, Jenny, Dean or Rob. We are very happy to help.
1. Something new, NOT JUST PINK AND BLUE
It’s no longer simply blue for boys and pink for girls when it comes to children’s rooms. Think outside the square and embrace some new and notso-predictable shades. A playful orange tone such as Dulux Exotic Flower is a hit with both genders, while a fresh colour such as Dulux Citrus Delight will see a child through the tweens into late teenage-hood. If you’re not sure about making such a bold statement, remember a feature wall is a great way to inject some colour into a room while still playing safe.
2. Beyond THE FOUR WALLS
Remember it’s not just walls that look all the more stunning with a fresh coat of paint. Raw pine furniture, such as beds and bedside tables are an inexpensive alternative to pre-coated furniture; plus they allow you to coordinate your furniture with your walls and other decor. You can make a statement piece out of an otherwise ordinary object such as a plain pine bookcase, simply with a coat of coloured paint to make it become a focal point of the bedroom.
3. THE ARTIST within
A child’s room is a great place to demonstrate the full scope of your creativity, and you don’t need to be a trained artist to paint a mural with a fun theme. Look around at books, magazines and the internet for inspiration, then practise your design on paper until you get it just right. You can then map out your artwork on the wall using a soft lead pencil (with an eraser at the ready), before getting out the paint. Speak to the paint experts at your local Inspirations store about which paints will work best and how to seal your work of art when it’s finished.
4. STICK-ON-ART
For simple and quick wall art, you can’t go past removable stickers or decals for children’s rooms. Because they’re removable, you can easily peel them off and reapply them if you put them in the wrong spot, or change them altogether if your child has outgrown the farmyard theme and wants to move onto spaceships. Afterwards, your walls will be left unmarked, with no clean-up required.
5. WRITTEN WITH Love
To the horror of parents, kids seem to have at least one attempt at drawing on walls. These days, parents can relax when they’ve used a paint with high washability and scuff resistance such as Dulux Wash & Wear. Simply wipe the wall with a damp cloth to remove the offending sketch, or beat your budding Picasso at his or her own game by including a chalkboard section to their wall. Use either White Knight Chalkboard Paint (available in deep green or black) or Dulux Chalkboard Paint (available in black) at your Inspirations store.
6. Blackboard AS AN EASEL
If your children like working on a large scale, paint an entire wall or smaller chalkboard shapes (such as hearts, stars or balloons) to create a decorative effect. Use a soft lead pencil to sketch the shape before applying the chalkboard paint.

Reasons YOUR
HOME DÉCOR
Do you ever feel as though your home decor just isn’t working because it’s not cohesive, It’s easy to fall in love with all the different interior design trends, but, if you’re not sure how to bring it all together, then you might need to consider the choices. Here are four reasons which might help you work out why your home decor isn’t working and set you on the path to a more balanced outcome.
ISNT WORKING
By Katrina Chambers
1
YOU DON’T HAVE A SPECIFIC COLOUR PALLET
Whether you like light and bright, dark and moody, browns, greys, greens…. it doesn’t matter, as long as it flows. When decorating, colour is essential. Without planning and (colour) co-ordination, a different wall colour can make your carpet look awful or your blinds look out of place. The trick is to pick no more than five colours and stick to those with the majority of elements in your home. This includes wall colours, cushions, carpet, curtains, furniture and accessories. These five colours are an example; white, grey, a dark colour (maybe black), a light colour (maybe dusty pink) and a contrasting colour (maybe green). Start with the wall paint – if it’s white then you have many more options. If you like creamy tones then you may like to use more timber and natural tones.
2
YOU DON’T HAVE A DEFINED STYLE
Modern homes suggest a contemporary style, while traditional homes can take on a more classic look. Determine which style of home you’re in, or the style you’re aiming for. You might see a couple of interior design themes pop out at you, such as Scandi, industrial, minimalism, mid-century modern, classic, contemporary, French country or Boho, then you can start searching for inspiration on Pinterest using just a couple of key words. If you’re not confident enough to mix old with new then don’t, because it can get confusing and can be harsh on the eye if not successfully done.

YOU’RE A SLAVE TO THE TRENDS
It is easy to become a slave to every trend when homewares are so cheap and affordable, and I too am a sucker for a trend. However, I do have pieces of furniture in my home I’ve had for years, which stand the test of time and all trends. The Scandinavian style is current and looks fantastic when it’s working well. But, if you’re only going to decorate your home following the trends, you’ll be hating it in 12 months when that trend loses popularity! Make sure your big-ticket items will last years and be prepared to move on (aka waste money) when the trend is no longer “in”.

YOUR FOCAL POINT IS WRONG
Another reason why your home décor my not be working is because you have the wrong focal point. When entering a room, notice where your eye naturally falls, which needs to be the most attractive thing possible. Maybe it’s a fireplace, a gorgeous rug, a comfy couch, or the bed, depending on which room you’re looking at. The focal point of a room influences the arrangement of furniture and a fantastic way to revitalise the room is to really emphasise the focal point. It also takes the focus off the least attractive features of the room. If you have the ability to move your furniture around, do so, and your focal point must be in tip-top condition. Style the areas you want people to see.
