Z M 11 A celebration of timeless design and exquisite craftsmanship, the new Leica ZM 11 represents transformation, serving as a symbol of time itself through an interplay of light and shadow. The ZM 11 is a reminder to approach things from a different angle, in order to discover something extraordinary. Engineered by Leica’s partner Chronode, the Swiss movement developer, the automatic Leica Calibre LA-3001 stands out with the precision of -4/+6 seconds per day and an impressive 60 hours of run time. The ZM 11 is measured in five positions, always guaranteeing accuracy, and is adorned with 35 jewels. The attention to detail is evident in the meticulous sandblasting, brushing and polishing techniques, reminiscent of the movement finishes found on the Leica ZM 1 and ZM 2 watches. Encased in a 10 atm water-resistant titanium or stainless steel, 41 mm shell, this Calibre not only paves the way for future innovations in the

ZM 11 Collection but also encapsulates the hallmark aesthetics of Leica design. The dual-layered dial of the Launch Edition transforms from a sleek black to vibrant red, depending on the viewer’s perspective. The first watch face of its kind to create the impression of a gradient that is accomplished through fine mechanical craftsmanship, instead of relying on printed visuals, the brushed indexes with polished edges have a luminous filling to ensure high visibility in any lighting condition. The hands are diamond-cut, softly faceted, and feature a combination of deep brushed and sand-blasted surfaces that reflect beautifully as they catch the light. Adapt to every occasion seamlessly with the Leica Easy Change system - a mechanism reminiscent of the lens release button on a Leica camera. Simply press the red dot and transform the appearance of the ZM 11, with the option of the elegant titanium and stainless steel, vulcanized rubber, or resilient fabric watch strap. Each band is designed with an emphasis on comfort, specifically created to complement the watch design and continue its linear aesthetics. The ZM 11 is incredible to wear and even more alluring to look at. An embodiment of engineering excellence and unparalleled craftsmanship, the Leica ZM 11 represents over 150 years of Leica taking bold steps to create new perspectives within innovation and design. The ZM 11 adds three unique timepieces to the Leica Watch Collection with the choice of three band options: The ZM 11 Titanium Launch Edition, limited to 250 watches, with a black and red dial; the ZM 11 Titanium Coffee Black with a warm-black dial; and the ZM 11 Steel Midnight Blue with a blue and black dial. The Leica ZM 11 will be available from the end of November at select Leica stores worldwide. The recommended retail price of the collection starts at £5,845.00 for the Leica ZM 11 Steel with rubber band, to £6,575.00 for the Leica ZM 11 Titanium with full Titanium band.

YOUR WATCH

Cali Alpiner The Alpiner Extreme Automatic outdoor watch, inspired by the Alps, has temporarily taken flight from its native Switzerland for a winter sun break: for the first time in its history, it’s been decked out with a California dial. First trademarked in 1941, the dial design features a clever blend of Arabic and Roman numerals, dashes and triangles designed to make reading the time from any angle error-proof. Stylish and further improving readability, Alpina has combined vintage luminous beige hands and hour markers with a black dial, all housed in the collection’s imposing and iconic steel cushion case. Available on a rubber strap – and like its fellows, powered by the trusty AL- 525 calibre, it’s also non- magnetic, waterproof, rustproof, and impact-resistant. Readability is an important part of watch making history. As wristwatches became more widespread and came to perform a more functional role, more particularly for pilots and divers, the need emerged for a dial that would be error-proof, preventing wearers from making any mistakes when reading its indications.

The need was all the more pressing in that back then, dials featured both Arabic and Roman numerals, with no consensus as to how the latter should be written: the figure 4 could be represented by IIII or IV; 8 could be VIII or IIX, while 12 might be left out altogether, often replaced by a brand’s logo. Not only that, the figure 6 could be mistakenly read upside-down as 9, a potentially fatal error for aviators in flight – or during an ocean dive. The California dial was devised to solve this issue. Between the 1940s and 1980s, it was mostly to be seen on tool watches before becoming a fashion in its own right. It became known as the California dial as a result of collectors’ keen interest in the style in the 1980s, when many of the models in question were to be found in the US state of that name. Today, Alpina’s Alpiner Extreme is very much in step with the original ethos of the California dial: a watch born on the steep slopes of the Alps, designed by mountaineers, and now worn by outdoor thrill-seekers everywhere.

IWC SCHAFFHAUSEN

T O P GUN Ceratanium®, an IWC-developed material which combines the structural integrity of titanium with a hardness and scratchresistance similar to that of ceramic. Thanks to the integrated Timezoner ® function, the watch can be set to a different time zone by simply pressing down and rotating the bezel. The hour hand, the 24-hour in onehour steps. This adjustment also works across the dateline and without losing a single second in the process. The city ring is made of green ceramic, while its outer bezel is made of Ceratanium®. It contains the names of 24 major cities, each representing one of the international time zones. The timepiece is powered by the IWC-manufactured 82760 caliber. This automatic movement uses a Pellaton winding system reinforced with ceramic components to reliably build up a power reserve of 60 hours in the mainspring. The movement is visible through a tinted sapphire case back. With the Pilot’s Watch Chronograph 41 Top Gun Mojave Desert, IWC adds its third 41-millimeter ceramic chronograph to the portfolio. The case is made of sand-coloured ceramic. Known as Mojave Desert, this earth tone with notes of beige and khaki is inspired by the flight suits of naval aviators and the desert landscape around China Lake, home to the U.S. Navy’s famous TopGun flight school. The dark brown dial and the hands, the printing and luminescent material, and the rubber strap with a textile inlay harmonize perfectly with the case. The crown, the chronograph pushers, and the case back are made of matte grey titanium.

With two new models in its “Colours of Top Gun” collection, IWC Schaffhausen underscores its comprehensive expertise in manufacturing coloured ceramic watches with striking monochromatic designs. In 2022, IWC Schaffhausen introduced its “Colours of Top Gun” collection, comprising various Pilot’s Watches in ceramic colours such as Woodland and Lake Tahoe. These ceramic shades were inspired by colour codes found in the world of naval aviation and developed in collaboration with Pantone®. Now, the Swiss luxury watch manufacturer is adding two new models to the collection. The Pilot’s Watch Timezoner Top Gun Woodland is the first Timezoner ® in coloured ceramic, featuring a dark green ceramic case and a Ceratanium® case ring and crown. The patented Timezoner ® function allows the wearer to effortlessly change between different time zones by simply pressing down and turning the rotating bezel. The Pilot’s Watch Chronograph 41 Top Gun Mojave Desert marks IWC’s first 41-millimeter Pilot’s Chronograph with a sand-coloured ceramic case. The dark green hue of the Pilot’s Watch Timezoner Top Gun Woodland is inspired by the flight suits and uniforms worn by pilots in the TopGun flight school and the vast forest landscapes they fly over. The timepiece impresses with its monochromatic design. From the dial and hands to the rubber strap and luminescent material, each component was carefully matched to the ceramic case colour through an elaborate engineering process. FREDERIQUE CONSTANT

YOUR WATCH

M E T E O R I T E 2023 marks Frederique Constant’s 35th anniversary and the 15th anniversary of its iconic Tourbillon calibre. For the occasion, the Maison has unveiled a Classic Tourbillon Meteorite Manufacture in platinum, featuring a meteorite dial and limited to only 35 pieces. This is an absolute first, as each individual timepiece is entirely finished by hand: an undertaking entrusted to two watchmakers from the Manufacture whose only mission was to achieve the highest degree of hand-finishing possible on

offshoot. At the same time, this piece of celestial history is also the subject of a veritable exploit in terms of craftsmanship: chiselling a meteorite dial, full of metals, requires exceptional skills. That’s because the precious material breaks and crumbles; its high iron content means it may have suffered serious deterioration, mainly corrosion. That in turn means extreme dexterity is called for in order to cut out a perfectly flat,

the movement. For collectors, this Classic Tourbillon Meteorite Manufacture is the ultimate must-have. The cut-out in its dial at 6 o’clock reveals the Manufacture tourbillon created by Frederique Constant just 15 years ago, in 2008. It’s one of the few tourbillons available in a platinum case with a meteorite dial to be currently available on the market. Using traditional instruments and tools, working by hand, the two dedicated watchmakers spent weeks on the meticulous finishing of each of the components for the special timepieces: a buff file for bevelling, a hammer and punch for hand-punching, and 9-micron sandpaper for charbonnage of the frame (bridge) and the base of the tourbillon cage, reproducing the aspect of the meteorite dial. A single bridge alone requires between two and three days of work. Beading and graining the flanks was done entirely by hand, and all the components have been decorated on both sides – even those that aren’t visible. And for what can be seen, Frederique Constant has worked on even the tiniest details, including blockpolishing the screws. This especially demanding technique involves diamond polishing on a zinc plate. Once polished, the screws take on a dark or steel sheen depending on the light, creating endless and unique contrasts depending on the movement’s orientation. Indeed, the latter has some forty such screws, and it takes some forty minutes to polish and bevel each of them by hand. Once the timepiece is assembled and finished, each of its components is checked according to the highest quality criteria, in line with Haute Horlogerie standards. This process puts Frederique Constant on a par with independent workshops: a significant step change in the quality of the Manufacture that paves the way for future developments. The meteorite dial is a precious testament to exceptional craftsmanship: a fragment of space that fell to Earth in a happy and rare occurrence in Gibeon, Namibia offers a perfect illustration of the relationship between humankind, the universe, and the astronomy of which watchmaking is a direct

smooth disc without a single flake falling off and damaging the movement beneath it. The meteorite dial - just 0.5mm thick is also protected by a coat of ruthenium, enhancing its natural grey glints and shielding the surface from oxidation. All this hard work has been well worth it, nonetheless: since the material is natural, each meteorite dial is different from any other. In other words, this is not so much a limited edition of 35 pieces as a set of 35 unique pieces. To ensure visual coherence with the colour of the meteorite dial, the movement also sports a ruthenium finish. This is very rare for Frederique Constant, and indeed in the watchmaking industry as a whole - all the more reason for adopting it here. Each engraving, including the timepiece’s individual number (on the tourbillon cage and also on the caseback) is rhodiumplated to ensure the characters stand out clearly. The oscillating weight is made of brass with a tungsten section around the rim. This material has been selected for its density, which is greater than that of 18-carat gold, providing greater inertia when in motion and thus enabling the barrel spring to be wound more quickly. All the parts of the oscillating weight are also coated with ruthenium. The Classic Tourbillon Meteorite Manufacture comes in a 39mm platinum case. For the first time in its history, Frederique Constant has combined a meteorite dial with this precious metal. The architecture of the piece provides collectors with a stunning view of the escapement wheel linked to the anchor pallet, the balance wheel rocking back and forth, and the concentric beat of the hairspring. A hand located above the tourbillon cage indicates the passing seconds. It’s also worth noting that Frederique Constant was one of the first watchmakers to adopt silicon in order to make the most of the many benefits it offers. Here, it has been used for the escapement wheel and anchor. The combined weight of these purple-hued parts and the rest of the escapement, regulating organs and tourbillon cage is just 0.59g, so very little energy is required to get them moving.

BREITLING

Avenger - Reassembled BREITLING'S AVIATION INSPIRED TIMEPIECE DESIGNED FOR THE MOST EXTREME AIRBORNE ANTICS WELCOMES A NEW COLOUR PALETTE AND MATERIALS

22

For over 20 years, Breitling’s Avenger has been at the forefront of airborne adventure. Built for fighter pilots, it’s a watch that can take on the toughest cockpits and keep coming back for more. But you don’t need air force credentials to appreciate its bold design, exceptional resilience, and next-level functionality. Today, that’s truer than ever. Today, the Avenger, updated and unstoppable. Breitling is meeting the demands of the skies with a redesign centered on sleek military detailing, wear-resistant materials, and the addition of the powerhouse Breitling Manufacture Caliber 01 to its chronograph models. Breitling’s ties to the world of aviation date back to the 1930s,

timepieces as the Navitimer, the AVI Co-Pilot, the Aerospace, the Emergency, and the Avenger. No other watch brand has a more impressive and enduring link to aviation. “The Avenger was created to stand up to the punishing conditions of a fighter jet cockpit and to support pilots in extreme aerial exploits. Its redesign demanded nothing less,” says Breitling CEO Georges Kern. “This collection pairs all the performance with sophisticated modern aviation style.” The new range comes in three formats. A 44 mm chronograph, a 44 mm automatic GMT, and a 42 mm automatic. Their black, blue, green, and sand-coloured dials are drawn from military uniform shades. Each of the pieces come with a choice of military

when third-generation founder Willy Breitling formed the HUIT Aviation Department, dedicated to creating precision aircraft instruments and pilots’ chronographs. Its expertise in the thenemerging field of military aviation carried through into the birth of commercial air travel and beyond, resulting in such renowned

leather strap with folding pin buckle or three-row stainless-steel bracelet with micro-adjustable folding clasp. Each has a 300 m water resistance. And whether you can pull off a barrel roll or not, you’ll appreciate their easy-grip functionality and corrosionresistant construction. breitling.com

YOUR WATCH

The force behind the new Avenger chronograph is the Breitling Manufacture Caliber 01 that provides approximately 70 hours of power and comes with a five-year-warranty, as well as being a COSC-certified chronometer. To reveal the movement’s precise mechanics, the chronos are equipped with an open sapphirecrystal caseback. Core models feature a coloured dial (blue, green, black, or sand-coloured) and rotating 60-minute bezel in stainless steel. Baton indexes streamline the dial, giving prominence to the redtipped chrono hand. Note the grip pattern on the crown and

bezel, and the new square pushers, designed for the smoothest timekeeping operation. For those looking for an even bolder look, the Avenger Night Mission chronograph - with a vibrant yellow or carbon black dial - has a case and bezel constructed entirely of scratch-resistant ceramic. Its caseback, crown, pushers, and buckle, meanwhile, are crafted in solid titanium, providing the highest strengthto-weight ratio of any metal. Dial numerals provide superior legibility, particularly on the black dial, made specially out of resilient carbon fibre.

Single, minimal actions, like a precise brush stroke or a gentle fold, come together in a grand choreography of creation - an orchestra of skilled gestures bringing the Maison’s visions to life. At the heart of the festive season are exceptional contemporary artisans with techniques that celebrate long-held traditions, skills honed over years, and deep-seated knowledge, who craft beautiful objects that stand the test of time. This attention to detail manifests in their intricate work, including the elaborate adornment of the coffret boxes and the Advent Calendar, produced entirely by hand. It’s not just a matter of creating, but of infusing each piece with a spirit, a narrative, and a soul, which elevates the concept of gifting, encouraging the idea of giving masterful pieces of artistry to loved ones. This festive magic is captured through the lens of photographer Pol Baril, while the Teatro di Villa Aldrovandi Mazzacorati in Bologna - a hidden gem whose architecture has remained the same since it was built in 1763 - reflects emblematic Italian culture and beauty, provides a fitting backdrop, mirroring the brand’s embodiment of Italianità. Featuring real artisans and artists of the Maison whose meticulous work and artistry reflect the heritage of Acqua di Parma, the spotlight shines on these artisans as they expertly utilize various skills to bring to life the holiday season’s creations.

YOUR HEALTH & BEAUTY

Buccal Massage at SkinLoft Also known as ‘The Yoga Facelift’, this results driven treatment is administered by Skin Loft founder Daiva Kamysova. Renowned as a Facialist and Cosmetologist and with years of experience and knowledge under her belt, Daiva has taken great care to ensure that all visitors to her new luxury beauty salon in Kensington are provided with a calm and tranquil escape. She has created a unique atmosphere that lends itself to the care of natural beauty. Buccal massage (also called intraoral massage) involves massaging pressure points inside the mouth stimulating the muscles and ligaments in the buccal fat pad between the cheeks and the jowls to tighten and contour the area. When skin doesn’t receive sufficient nutrients and oxygen, this results in water retention, puffiness, a dull complexion and drooping cheeks and jowls. Daiva’s signature Face Sculpting Buccal Massage is a rejuvenating and holistic facial treatment that helps to resolve these issues. Providing numerous benefits, it involves targeted massage techniques applied to the muscles of the face, particularly focusing on the cheek and jaw area. Because of its non-invasive technique, this sought-after treatment has become a firm favourite for celebrities and high-profile clients seeking the ultimate face sculpting treatment. Undertaken in two phases, this massage works with the three sculptural lines of the face: the cheekbones, the jawline and the eyebrow lines. Phase one, the Sculptural Phase, involves a deep tissue sculptural, anti-gravity massage which is designed to lift the face, strengthen your muscles and reduce unnecessary sagging of the skin. Facial contours are visibly lifted and cheekbones are highlighted for a more defined look. Sagging cheeks are also lifted, aligning the chin area and achieving straight lines. It also helps combat the signs of sagging eyelids. The second ‘Deep Tissue Phase’ is where the pressure points are massaged from inside the mouth and this stimulates the muscles and ligaments in the buccal fat pad helping to tighten, tone and sculpt the face. The targeting of these specific facial muscles also reduces the appearance of sagging or drooping

skin and this technique encourages lymphatic drainage, reducing puffiness and swelling for a more contoured look. It helps to relax the muscles, stimulate blood flow, increase blood circulation which promotes oxygen and nutrient delivery to the skin cells and encourages the release of toxins. It also aids in the production of collagen which contributes to a tighter and more youthful-looking skin enhancing your natural beauty. The finished result is a firmer, healthy and radiant complexion with a natural glow. Another advantage of this massage is that it helps alleviate facial tension and stress, promoting relaxation and a sense of well-being. The Yoga Facelift treatment is suitable for various age groups and skin types and it offers a non-invasive and natural approach to facial rejuvenation. It’s a holistic way to address various concerns and overall skin health and is particularly beneficial if you are looking for a natural approach to facial enhancement. The massage technique provides both cosmetic and therapeutic benefits and as Daiva says “There is now a general understanding that the facial muscles need just as much exercise as our body. If we don’t manipulate our facial muscles as regularly as we exercise, then our skin will begin to sag. More people are realising that having stiff muscles in your face can cause unhealthy blood flow and poor lymphatic circulation, which means our tissues do not receive enough nutrients and oxygen, thus resulting in inadequate detoxification in our system. Through deep lymphatic massage and contouring techniques, you can lift the facial muscles and create a fresh radiant look to the skin. The Buccal massage is one of the facial massage techniques that specifically targets the drooping of the jowls, brows, eyelids, lip corners, double chin and much more.” Treatment lasts approximately one hour and a course of six is recommended with monthly top-ups. All Skin Loft’s beauty treatments are individually tailored to provide both physical and emotional benefits, where the mind and body are in perfect harmony. IBIZA'S QUIET SIDE Enjoy the peace and tranquility that Ibiza has to offer away from the renowned vibrancy of this 'party island'. Boasting some spectacular scenery and an abundance of luxurious retreats to escape to, this cultured side to the island is not to be missed.

IBIZA, BALEARIC ISLANDS

SA NTA EUL À R I A I B I Z A ,

B A L E A R I C

We all know Ibiza as one of the party islands of the mediterranean. But there is another side to the lush, evergreen island that honours time old traditions, nature, and the fruits of the land. Peaceful and serene, Santa Eulària is a short drive north of the airport. Located on the eastern coast of Ibiza, comprises of the townships of Jesús, Puig d’en Valls, Santa Gertrudis de Fruitera, Santa Eulària des Riu and Sant Carles de Peralta. Celebrated for its relaxed atmosphere, it offers a more authentic side to the island with rich history. Covering rolling green hills, Santa Eulària is made up of rustic villages and majestic churches, over 46 kilometres of stunning coastline boasts more than twenty beaches and hidden coves meaning there is plenty to explore. The area is home to one of the richest marine ecosystems in Ibiza and has therefore been classed

as a highly protected area, meaning you will see the very heart of this beautiful island. With over 300 days of sunshine, Ibiza is the perfect year-round destination for hiking, cycling and on-water activities. Water temperatures don't drop below 14 degrees, even during the coldest months allowing you to escape for a wellness retreat at any time of the year. Suitable for families and couples - young and old - alike, Santa Eulària combines the heritage of the island and area with the modern trappings of day to day life. Stay in authentic, yet luxury, Can Curreu in the heart of Santa Eulària. Open all year round, rural farmhouse Can Curreu is deep within the Ibizan countryside. Sympathetic to the past, the building’s original architecture complements the beauty of the landscape and makes the hotel a unique experience.

YOUR TRAVEL

With varying room categories, each one offering stunning views of the valleys and containing numerous unique pieces that are characteristic of the island, the intimate hotel boasts a modern Spa, complete with a modern thermal circuit, stunning outdoor pool with ample lounger space, as well as a gastro Restaurant offering Mediterranean cuisine. Family owned, the boutique hotel is also home to its own ranch so you can delight in riding along the most natural bridleways, and a Nautical Charter service offering you the opportunity to explore the coast of Ibiza and nearby Formentera aboard their boats. It is well known that many creative personalities have found home and provided influence to the island. From writers and artists to celebrities and personalities, the hippie movement in particular had a huge influence on Ibiza especially in Santa Eulària. In the year 1912, the well-known painter Laureà Barrau remarked that, “Everything here is more beautiful than I could have imagined. A painter’s entire life can be found here.”

Beginning life as a roadside bar in the 50s by local carpenter Juan Mari, the hippie movement began to transform the north of the island as Americans arrived from the USA to escape the call-up for the Vietnam War. As the 60s continued, and the counter-culture grew, the world-press began to notice and stars and like-minded 'peluts' (as hippies were known) flocked to the island to enjoy the freedom that was not seen in other parts of Spain, or the rest of the world. In 1978 Bob Marley performed in Ibiza, and in the 80s, English Gallery owner Helga Watson-Todd and Juanito (Juan's son) set up a small art gallery that formed the beginnings of the market as seen today. From five stalls on Valentine's Day in 1985 to 50 the following year, the market began to grow and grow, with some of the best artists in the country clamouring to play at Las Dalias. Today, renowned for its performances and oneof-a-kind trinkets and creations by local artisans, tourists can enjoy a full day out, sampling local delicacies, buying clothes for all the family and handmade products for the home.

A great location to see this influence today is the hippie market, which is conveniently located just at the bottom of the hill that Can Curreu sits on. As one of the islands most long-standing craft markets, Las Dalias is a hub of vibrant stalls selling all kinds of creative, often handmade, items for the whole family.

Santa Eulària offers a unique style of holiday where you can combine sun-soaked beaches and wanders down the marina, with immersive strolls around ancient churches, foodie treats, and the theatrics of Ibiza's typical folk dance performances. In a celebration of their heritage, ball pagès, date back to the 13th century and feature a couple, in which

IBIZA, BALEARIC ISLANDS the man dances energetically around his partner executing great leaps while the woman’s dance is a choreographed set of small steps and circular movements. Performed around the wells and water sources of the island’s different villages in the summer, and especially in the countryside, these days, the ball pagès can be seen and enjoyed in any traditional ceremony of importance on the island. Know for its vast rural farming land, the area is the ideal foodie base thanks to its local home grown offerings. The name given to a traditional Ibicenco rural dwelling is a 'casement', each following the same general layout and having the same function. Built by the farmers themselves with the help of family members, neighbours and friends, these farmhouses had thick walls to both keep the house cool in the summer and to conserve the heat from the hearth in the winter. Each house was adapted to its surroundings, not only to the lay of the land with its slopes and rises, but also to the light. With flat roofs to collect the scare rainfall, there were a number of rooms dedicated to whatever the farm specialised in - many making use of the wild olive trees with an oil pressing room and olive mill. A great example is the preserved house Ca N'Andreu des Trull which is open to visitors looking to see what life was once like in this traditional type of structure.

salads. A local delicacy in particular is, Bullit de Peix, a typical traditional Ibizan dish of boiled fish with saffron, garlic, pepper and onion. Beachside local restaurant, Pou des Lleo does a fantastic version in the leafy surrounds of their magical garden terrace. Another fantastic example of combining the best of the land with foodies in mind for a luxury holiday is at Cas Gasi Boutique Hotel and Restaurant. Located slightly more central to the island, yet still in the Santa Eularia region, Cas Gasi - like Can Curreu - is part of the region's 'Hotel with Charm' collection, and is owned by husband and wife duo, Margret von Korff and Luis Trigueros Juan. Offering large, modern rooms, the boutique hotel has many hidden nooks to explore, as well as a large garden. Inspired by the no-dig garden system, the Cas Gasi silent garden shuns all machinery and instead opts for simple, artisanal methods that respect natural rhythms and health both of humans and the world around us. By respecting the plants and their growth, the garden understands biodiversity and encourages and allows it to grow and multiply. From busy bees and hardworking earthworms, all are welcomed to help produce more, together. This method not only encourages pollinators but it also balances the presence of pests as

been chosen based on their attributes that fulfil this need and help protect other plants from pests by indirectly spreading them rather than allowing them to focus on one crop. From pest repellent garlic and marigolds, to purple verbena, echinacea, butterfly bush and yarrow, the balance is key to create colourful biodiversity islands within the garden. An organised garden is a healthy garden and careful annual vegetables rotations take place in order to create wonderful produce for use in the hotel for guests to enjoy. Fruit trees reside peacefully in the orchards, while rosemary and thyme can be found in the beds, as well as lemongrass, mints, tarragon and curly parsley. All come together to subtly accompany the ingredients of the hotel restaurant's dishes and innovative menu highlights include, a farm oil and marinated olives; Croquetas made with braised leeks,

orange oil and kimchi; and a Garden Tartare with salt baked beetroot, avocado and purple granite. The farming experiences continue and highlight the importance of locally farmed produce and its positive impact on the environment. A short drive away, and an excuse to hire a vintage mini Moke for a unique mode of transportation around the area, Finca Ecológica Can Musón, not only is fantastic for kids allowing them to meet and feed the farm animals, but also shows a thriving farm full of herbs, vegetables and produce that allows you to dine on a host of freshly prepared salads, breads, eggs to name but a few. It's a great brunch spot. With a mild climate, plenty of family friendly activities and stunning surrounds, it's no wonder people are looking to discover the heart of the White Isle once again and what better place to do it than Santa Eulària.

The latest restaurant to open in The Biltmore Mayfair, Grill 88 is a luxurious steakhouse offering the highest quality steaks and seafood in an intimate setting. Ideal for celebrations as well as everyday relaxed dining, the new steakhouse features a large open kitchen so diners can watch the theatrics take place as they eat. With just 32 covers, the intimate restaurant offers a personalised dining experience. Interiors are both elegant and calming, thanks to serene sage green tones and cool white marble surfaces with brushed brass metalwork. Abstract artworks by La Viola are gently lit by the early evening sunlight pouring in from the large sash windows overlooking leafy Grosvenor Square. The menu, designed by Executive Chef Luis Campos, takes inspiration from his travels around the world and also offers the finest Kelly and Gillardeau oysters. Highlights include The House 88 Beef Tartare that hasn't been changed since opening. With white soy cured egg yolk, Devil's sauce, black truffle and parmesan snow - it's certainly unlike any other beef tartare you've tried, but in the best way. The Orkney Scallops and Squid is another interesting choice, the umami of the soy dashi comes together with the delicate layers of scallop and squid, mixed with sea vegetables and rice vinegar gel. Moving onto mains, every dish is prepared with the specially-sourced Holm Oak charcoal, which is rich and earthy with peaty notes, that adds an underscore of sweetness to the menu.

Boasting the finest produce, with ingredients from Australia to the Lake District, diners can select from a variety of prime beef cuts, including Lake District Sirloin, grain-fed Japanese A5 Kagoshima Black Breed Ribeye Wagyu, and large cuts to share including a FullBlood Wagyu Chateaubriand or Butcher’s Platter. For those who don't fancy meat, there's a Pearl Barley and Artichoke Risotto or numerous fish options, from the fish of the day served with fermented Datterini tomatoes and aged feta; to the Lemon Sole Cutlet with Carabinero and beurre blanc. For convivial celebrations and a touch of ceremony, guests can enjoy steak cooked at the table on Himalayan salt or a lava block, including a Black Pork Iberico Presa. Seasonality is reflected as we move into the autumn months with a warming Winter Truffle Mac and Cheese, and Brussel Sprouts with Chestnut and Guancialle. Nothing is overlooked - from the homemade in-house butters to the sides, the Thames Valley Asparagus was perfectly cooked - dining at Grill 88 a joy. The restaurant’s signature cocktail list celebrates the local Mayfair neighbourhood, with specialty drinks, such as the ‘Mezcal Mews’ and ‘Grosvenor Affair’ served alongside classic cocktails, and a fantastic selection of wines and champagnes. Based in the heart of the West End, Grill 88 is open for dinner from Tuesdays to Sundays, from 6pm to 10.30pm. To reserve a table, visit Seven Rooms.

CLARIDGE'S RESTAURANT Having officially reopened its doors in September, this winter marks a new era for Claridge's Restaurant. Last known as Claridge’s Restaurant over 20 years ago, this classic-yet-contemporary spot is once again operated in house. A true Art Deco work of art, the stylish destination promises to re-establish itself as the go-to place for the residents and guests of Mayfair alike. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, the restaurant is manned by chef Coalin Finn, previously of Davies and Brook and Sketch. Like the hotel itself, dishes on the menu are classically inspired with a modern twist, showcasing the very best of locally sourced, seasonal ingredients. Facing the bar at the other end of the dining room, the marble-arched kitchen serves up highlights such as Buckwheat Crumpets, cloaked in soubise cream, truffle puree and slices of truffle; and barbequed Radish Skewers are braised in homemade teriyaki, laced with horseradish. Wonderfully warming and perfectly seasonal, the Leek and Watercress Velouté with potato croutons is a delight. Peppery and velvety smooth, its a fantastic starter. Elsewhere the plump and juicy Seared Orkney Scallops with Jerusalem artichoke and Persillade sauce are an excellent choice; and there's also a generous Plateau de Fruits de Mer on offer too, with oysters, langoustine, crab, clams, mussels and scallop.

Main highlights include Steak au Poivre with a mirror like peppercorn sauce and slices of truffle; Grilled Cornish Turbot; and Dorset Lamb Loin. Sides such as the wonderfully acidic bitter leaf salad, pickled radish and artichokes; and creamy mashed potatoes round off the meal. For dessert, sweet fans will want to try the Chocolate Souffle Tart with cocoa nib ice cream, but for a more savoury finish a collection of all-British cheeses – sourced from Nottinghamshire to St. Andrew’s - fits the bill and are accompanied by cherry chutney and plum crackers. Paying particular homage to the iconic hotel’s art deco design heritage, Bryan O’Sullivan studio has sensitively restored the space to showcase the authentic glamour of which the hotel is renowned. No detail has been spared; using Calcutta Viola marble and antique brass and sumptuous banquette seating. The result is a wonderfully light, warm and welcoming dining room. The restaurant’s distinctive art deco starburst skylights were designed by Guy Oliver and artwork has been chosen from Claridge’s extensive private collection, with pieces from Sean Scully, Guggi, Richard Gorman and two new bespoke commissions by Brian Clarke. Service is as to be expected in such an esteemed venue, making Claridge's Restaurant the jewel in the hotel's crown once again. The restaurant is open seven days a week for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

ELLIOTT GROVER

Thanksgiving Sides By Elliott Grover Having spearheaded some of London’s most renowned restaurants, chef Elliott Grover now takes the helm at CUT at 45 Park Lane. Elliott’s fresh take on the menu celebrates locally sourced ingredients and his close relationships with our producers.

Introducing CUT’s ‘Sweet potato and marshmallow’ and ‘green bean casserole’, the perfect side dishes. CUT will be hosting a Thanksgiving lunch and dinner on Thursday 23 November, hosted by chef Elliott Grover. The menu has been curated by Elliott as well as celebrity chef Wolfgang Puck. ROAST SWEET POTATOES AND HOMEMADE MARSHMALLOW Now you can use shop bought marshmallows, but homemade is so much better! So... ITALIAN MERINGUE INGREDIENTS 3 Egg Whites | 170g Caster Sugar METHOD Whisk the egg whites with an electric beater or whisk in a large bowl, until they form stiff peaks. Put the sugar into a small pan with 4 tbsp of water and put over a low-medium heat, swirling the pan gently until the sugar is dissolved. Turn up the heat and simmer until it reads 120°C on a sugar thermometer. Remove the syrup from the heat and whisk.

Slowly and steadily pour the hot syrup into the bowl, avoiding pouring directly onto the whisk. Turn the bowl, if using electric beaters, to ensure all of the egg white is incorporated with the syrup. Once all of the syrup has been incorporated, continue to whisk the mixture for 2-3 minutes until thick and shiny. Keep aside or in fridge until we come to top our sweet potato. INGREDIENTS 6 Medium Sweet Potatoes | 100g Butter Cubed | 50g Sugar | 1 Teaspoon Vanilla Extract | ½ Teaspoon Ground Nutmeg | ½ Teaspoon Salt METHOD Peal and roast sweet potatoes for around 40 minutes in a 180°C oven, once tender to a tray add butter, vanilla, nutmeg, and salt. Now add the mixture to a casserole dish, and pipe the fresh marshmallow on top, you can cover the whole thing but I like to add random dots of marshmallow as it looks much better. Now bake in the oven at 180°C for 20 minutes, the marshmallow should come out golden brown and oozing.

CHAMPAGNE

WINTER SPARKLES Winter is here and log fires, long walks and comfort food are back in fashion. The summer season is an excellent time to showcase your favourite Champagne styles and add a bit of sparkle to picnics and summer sporting ventures. However, Champagne is not to be overlooked during the colder months – arguably, as Christmas and the New Year around the corner, there is no better time to celebrate with Champagne. This November, The Champagne Bureau UK are here to guide you on various styles, to continue enjoying Champagne throughout the colder months before the festive celebrations come into full force.

Blanc de Noirs and Your Roast The name “Blanc de Noirs” refers to a Champagne made from dark grape varieties alone such as Pinot Noir and/or Meunier. As such, these wines tend to have more body than those that have white grape varieties in their blend, giving them the impression of power, density, and structure. “Vinosity” is also an important term to note when talking about Blanc de Noirs - this refers to the sensation of heat on the palate, a key characteristic of this style. These wines produce notes of white and yellow fruits as well as black fruits and often spices such as cinnamon and cloves. When aged, notes of coffee, cocoa and brioche can be detected. As such, succulent roast pork goes perfectly with the power of a Blanc de Noirs.

Champagne Rosé and Fruity Duck Vibrantly coloured, diverse, and simply elegant, with lively fruity aromas, Rosé Champagne is most often obtained by blending white and red grapes. This gives it a flamboyant joyfulness and aromas around notes of freshness (citrus fruits and wild strawberries) or complex wild berry fruit notes. The colour of Rosé Champagne can range from soft pink to a darker raspberry pink and pairs exquisitely with red meats such a duck. We would select a fruity, berry sauce with our duck to compliment the Rosé Champagne. To find out more about Champagne visit champagne.fr or enrol at champagne-mooc.com

Non-Vintage Champagne Brut for Vegetarians A non-vintage Champagne Brut is a multi-faceted Champagne - versatile and an essential classic. This is due to the fact that it is a blended wine and as such, there is an infinite field of possibilities when it comes to each Champagne’s aromas and flavours. As a non-vintage Brut’s pairing opportunities are plentiful and it is a good idea to offer a vegetarian option, we would recommend pairing yours with a vegetarian wellington or pie.

Champagne Demi-Sec for Dessert Smooth and delicate with a sugar content between 32 and 50 grams of sugar per litre, Champagne demi-secs are round and indulgent. These wines provide fruity notes that are sweeter on the palate and work particularly well with desserts. The ultimate comfort food, a cinnamon apple crumble, would be our choice paired with a demi-sec with notes of green apples to bring out those apple flavours in your crumble.

LEXUS UX250h

Lexus' UX is the first of their cars to be constructed using the new global architecture - compact (GA-C) platform. A lightweight yet super-rigid construction which features an extremely low centre of gravity and refined suspension tuning affording improved handling agility and ride comfort along with a distinct, athletic driving character. This makes it a compact SUV which on appearance looks considerably more sporty than most. The profile and stance of the UX is noticeably low, delivering an immediate punch of athleticism to the aesthetics while the instantly recognisable angular detailing on the exterior with the expansive, curving front grille add further dynamic styling. Clever, sleek window use provides a quandary for the eyes, creating an illusion of size that makes you think this car is potentially smaller than it actually is. A flowing roofline which follows the rear side window profile offers up a 'hatchback' style appearance while the interior space suggests otherwise. With a total boot space of 438 litres and 1,231 litres available with the rear seats folded, it packs a deceptive

amount of space for any cargo you need to shift or undertake any longer journeys with passengers. Should you be travelling over distance, you can enjoy the full potential of the mild-hybrid system which is able to recharge itself on the go. If you happen to be stopping in towns and cities along the way, you can simply shift the drive mode into fully electric, enjoy driving emission-free then switch to recharge mode once on the open road again to recharge the batteries ready for your next stop. Boasting a 2.0-litre engine paired with the hybrid electric system, the UX 250h delivers a total output of 181hp and 190Nm of torque. Not the most potent of options on the market, but enough to propel you from standing to sixty-two miles per hour in 8.7 seconds and on to a top speed of 110mph. It's capable of delivering a consumption figure of 50.4mpg which takes into account the variable driving between all-electric, hybrid and recharge modes. This figure is incredibly changeable depending on how and where you are driving. On a fully charged battery,

you can comfortably head to the local shop without requiring the additional engine support. Updated systems across the board make for a comfortable and safe experience on the road while not sacrificing any dynamism. The hybrid system delivers a progressive acceleration when in sport mode that is more than sufficient for everyday driving and the athletic nature of the cars handling thanks to that lowered centre of gravity and smart suspension setup allow you to enjoy the car on winding roads just as much as eating up the miles on the motorway. This is a compact SUV that surprises with its space, despite exterior appearances and is packed full of technology including head-up display; adaptive high-beam system; Mark Levinson sound system; and blind spot monitor and rear cross traffic alert with autobraking function to name just a few. For those on their first foray into electrification, the mild hybrid option is a good way to go, avoiding any need to find a charging point, you can enjoy your car as you please with some added efficiency.

1963 Fiat 600 Multipla Electric £POA

Electric Multipla Fiat's 600 Multipla debuted at the Brussels Motor Show in 1956 and enjoyed a production run of almost a quarter of a million units before it was discontinued in the spring of 1967. The original Fiat 600 Multipla was a four-door MPV based on the Fiat 600's existing drivetrain, complete with four-speed manual transmission, which could seat up to six people in a footprint that was a mere 50cm longer than the original Mini Cooper, resting

on the same wheelbase as the 600 saloon. To achieve this feat, the driver's area was moved forward over the front axle - essentially removing the boot - and body changed to a flat-fronted "one-box" minivan-like style. The new aesthetic created an almost teardrop style profile which in this case, features a striking two-tone design in red over black. Completed with a red leather interior, this 1963 example has been fully restored to an excellent standard and converted to electric by Stimauto in Italy which was completed in 2020. The Multipla was always a unique vehicle, but with the electric conversion, this example is a rare breed indeed and not to be missed.

SAVILLS

WHERE DOES THE LAND LIE FOR LONDON’S PRIME PROPERTY MARKETS with Frances McDonald, Savills Research Analyst

Looking back at the property headlines in 2023 so far, you would be led to believe that wealth and investment had deserted the UK, and the property market had halted. But there is a marked difference between the headlines and reality when it comes to prime central London property today. Savills’ Frances McDonald debunks some of the myths surrounding the prime market and gives an update on market behaviours over the last three months. “The prime housing markets of London have remained comparatively robust so far in 2023, but they haven’t been immune to months of rising interest rates and wider economic and political uncertainty. “Prices across prime central London fell by a marginal -0.5% during the third quarter and by -1.2% in the past year. For the more needs-based outer prime London markets, values fell by a slightly greater -0.9% during Q3 and by -2.5% annually, according to our latest Q3 prime market index. This compares to falls of -5.3% in the year to August across the UK mainstream market, according to Nationwide.

YOUR PROPERTY Realistic pricing will be critical over the coming months “Prime markets have remained comparatively robust this year but our latest data indicates that prime London is not immune to months of rising rates and wider economic and political uncertainty, which is still likely to put downward pressure on prices. Although the levelling off of interest rates and expectations of falls next year should go some way to inspire some confidence and support transactions. “While there has been growing acceptance from sellers that prices have fallen from pandemic highs, buyer expectations on price are still markedly lower than sellers, with the majority of agents (53%) reporting that buyers are expecting to pay -5 to-10% less for a home, while they believe half of sellers (50%) only expect to get 0 to-5% less for their home.

“For all but the very best properties, buyers and sellers are as much as 5% apart on price. Closing this gap will be crucial in maintaining activity levels for the remainder of the year, with those most prepared to be realistic on price likely to garner the best end result.”

Growing divergence between apartments and houses “Over the past three months we’ve also seen a continued divergence in performance between different prime London property types. “Houses in North and East London (primarily Victoria Park, Islington and Hackney) were the only areas of prime London to buck the trend with positive growth (+0.7%) in the year to Q3, due to constrained stock and increased demand. But prices for apartments, which are typically more exposed to higher interest rates, have fallen across every prime London region. “Sustained demand and short supply has underpinned growth for smaller properties in first-time buyer micro markets, such as Clapham and Wandsworth. Here, the Bank of Mum and Dad has a significant presence, meaning many first-time buyers frustrated by high rents are less reliant on more expensive, high loan to value borrowing. “But locations where supply exceeds demand, including Canary Wharf and Wapping, present strong opportunities for young professionals working nearby and opportunistic cash investors, many of whom are buying from divesting landlords.”

Cash remains king for prime markets “When looking at the upper end of the prime central London market (£5-10 million), where cash plays the biggest role, we are continuing to see stronger growth versus the lower end of the PCL market (£2 million and below), with prices in the latter falling by -1.7% on the year, vs -0.6%. “Mortgage borrowing is largely discretionary in the prime central London markets, and so we saw an uptick in borrowing when interest rates were at historic lows during the pandemic. Now these markets are benefiting from affluent buyers’ ability to transact with cash or low loan to value ratios as rates have risen. “But not all prime markets are underpinned to the same extent by reserves of cash and equity. Prime family house markets of South West and West London, in particular, are typically more highly leveraged and deals here are becoming increasingly price sensitive.”
