HOUSES OF PARLIAMENT TOURS

After over three hundred newly-elected MPs took their seats on the iconic green benches after the 2024 election, members of the public now have the chance to go behind-the-scenes at the heart of Westminster.

RETURNS TO ST KATHARINE DOCKS

The much-anticipated Classic Boat Festival is set to make waves in London once again on September 7th and 8th at the historic St Katharine Docks, promising a weekend filled with maritime splendour.

Now in its 15th edition, this year’s event will be larger than ever, extending into the west basin and showcasing over 50 stunning vessels. Affordable Art Fair

25th Anniversary Edition

Affordable Art Fair will return this season to take over Battersea Park from 16-20 October, marking 25 years since the first ever Affordable Art Fair in 1999.

Celebrating the best in contemporary art under £7,500, bringing over 100 leading galleries together from across the world at its founding location of Battersea Park, thousands of artworks will be on show from living artists, both household names and rising stars.

With special programming to celebrate 25 years of Affordable Art Fair, guests can look forward to a bespoke cocktail on offer at Art After Dark Lates, and a striking new installation by Helen Brough.

Visitors can also expect returning favourites Family Morning on Saturday and Sunday and the Recent Graduates Exhibition throughout the art fair, showcasing the best emerging talent with an exciting Class of 2024 artist line up. Affordable Art Fair will also celebrate Black History Month with a special exhibition

displaying the best of contemporary Black talent.

Will Ramsay founded Affordable Art Fair in 1999, launching the first ever fair in Battersea Park. The Autumn edition celebrates exactly 25 years of democratising the art world, from 1999 - 2024, and to mark this special event, the fair will be playing host to a range of anniversary activity.

The fair has also commissioned a limited edition 25th anniversary print from bestselling artist Nadia Attura, which pays homage to Affordable Art Fair’s beginnings in Battersea Park. This stunning print features a range of plant species that can be found in Battersea Park’s botanical gardens, alongside the Scottish thistle, a nod to the Fair’s founder and CEO Will Ramsay. The artwork’s colours are also symbolic: the fair’s signature pink, touches of celebratory metallic silver and a deep blue - representing inspiration. The print is a limited edition of 200, priced at £150. It will be available to buy at Battersea Autumn or online, via Will’s Art Warehouse.

YOUR ART

A not-to-be-missed attraction for visitors this Autumn will be a stunning, newly commissioned installation by widely celebrated artist Helen Brough, represented by Art Movement - one of the fair’s founding galleries which has been exhibiting since the very first event in 1999.

Helen’s work spans many mediums - including oil, watercolour and glass - but her large-scale installation for Affordable Art Fair will take the form of a striking laser-cut, layered Dahlia with powerful symbolism, representing gratitude and appreciation. Affordable Art Fair has chosen the installation as an ode to its exhibiting galleries’ loyalty and support over the past 25 years, and its growing community of artists and gallerists who are so integral to the success of Affordable Art Fair.

Elsewhere, leading charity Paintings in Hospitals will partner with the fair. The charity collaborates with patients and carers to transform clinical environments using art from their extensive collection, featuring renowned artists such as Anita Klein, Yinka Shonibare, Nayanaa Kanodia, and Ian Davenport. The charity also works in community settings, including public libraries, to break down barriers, collaborate with refugees, those who have

English as a second language, the socially isolated and those at the end-of-life stage, helping them to reminisce, story tell and use their artworks as a distraction, while encouraging artistic endeavours.

At the autumn fair, Paintings in Hospitals will showcase a curated selection of artworks from their collection and host an exciting Silent Auction at the Private View. This event coincides with Paintings in Hospitals celebrating a significant milestone in 2024, reflecting on 65 years of positive change through art.

The Regent Street and St James’ festival returns for 2024

The festival takes place throughout September with unique events, offers and dining experiences giving a taster into what might be found on menus of the future

Regent Street and St James’ Future of Food festival returns with a month-long festival taking place in the heart of London’s West End throughout September.

From 16th - 22nd September, 22 leading chefs, restaurants and food experts will take part in 18 ticketed events across the foodie hotspots of Regent Street and St James’s which include panel talks with industry experts, unique dining experiences, exclusive event access to Britain’s Academy of Film and Television HQ

and the opportunity to meet some of the UK’s most forwardthinking chefs, restaurateurs and suppliers, getting a real taste for the future of food.

Devised to give a glimpse into how topics including sustainability, innovation and creativity shape what we eat, the line-up includes 2 Michelin-starred chef Alex Dilling of Hotel Café Royal who will partner with Oslo-based cooking sensation Mikael Svensson for a back-to-back tasting menu and one of the UK’s most-loved chefs Angela Hartnett OBE of Café Murano St James, cooking alongside a guest chef Lisa Goodwin-Allen, Executive Chef of the Stafford Collection.

The festival’s official charity partner, The Felix Project, which delivers surplus food to charities and schools across London, will receive charitable donations throughout the month of September - £1 from every ticket purchased will be donated and there will be a donation point in place at the Discovery Zone.

Since 1984, the Portofino has become one of IWC Schaffhausen’s most established collections, notable for its freshness and the purity of its lines. Its minimalist round case, the Roman numerals and simple hour markers make it exceptionally versatile.

This year at Watches and Wonders Shanghai, IWC Schaffhausen has continued the tradition with its Portofino Chronograph 39 (Ref. IW391503). Combining the classic and timeless Portofino design with a sporty chronograph complication, this easy-to-wear watch has a compact case diameter of 39mm. The polished stainless steel case, the silverplated dial and rhodium-plated hands and appliques lend it an elegant look.

For the first time, the Portofino Chronograph 39 has been fitted with a 5-link stainless steel bracelet, which offers

robustness and high wearing comfort at the same time. The interplay between the brushed and satin-finished bracelet links results in a contemporary and elegant look.

The integrated quick-change system makes it possible to easily change the bracelet for another option such as traceable Swiss calf leather and adapt the look of the watch to suit different outfits or occasions.

The Portofino Chronograph 39 is powered by the IWC manufactured 69355 calibre. This robust and precise chronograph movement in a classic column-wheel design consists of 205 individual parts. It enables the measurement of stop times of up to 30 minutes and can be viewed through the sapphire glass case back. The bi-directional pawl winding system reliably builds up a power reserve of 46 hours in the mainspring.

THE BLACK BAY CHRONO “BLUE” A BOUTIQUE EXCLUSIVE

Staying true to the Black Bay aesthetic, the Black Bay Chrono makes the iconic "Snowflake" hands - a signature feature of Tudor divers' watches since 1969 - its own. This version is carefully refined for optimal readability on its blue domed dial, which features two recessed silver sub-dials. Inspired by the first generation of Tudor chronographs, the dial includes a 45-minute counter and a date window at 6 o'clock. The distinctive elements of the Black Bay line - satin-brushed and polished finishes, bevelled lugs, and a Tudor rose-embossed crown - are maintained within a 41mm steel case. Reflecting the meticulous attention to detail that defines the brand, the stainless steel pushers are modelled after the very first Tudor chronographs. A fixed stainless steel bezel with a blue anodized aluminium tachymetric scale insert completes the sporty look and functionality of this chronograph.

The new Black Bay Chrono model comes equipped with a 5-link stainless steel bracelet featuring the Tudor “T-fit” rapid adjustment clasp. This user-friendly system, requiring no tools, offers five positions for fine, instant adjustments, with an 8mm adjustment range. The clasp also incorporates ceramic ball bearings, ensuring a smooth and secure closure, while adding a satisfying tactile experience.

the Black Bay Chrono offers hour, minute, second, chronograph, and date functions. The movement showcases the typical Tudor Manufacture finishing, with an openwork tungsten monobloc rotor, satin-brushed and sand-blasted details, and bridges and mainplate featuring alternating sand-blasted and polished surfaces with laser decorations.

With a 70-hour power reserve and a silicon balance spring, the MT5813 is COSC-certified, exceeding the standards set by the Official Swiss Chronometer Testing Institute. While COSC allows a daily variation of -4/+6 seconds for uncased movements, Tudor applies a stricter -2/+4 seconds standard to the fully assembled watch. This high-performance movement, crafted in the tradition of fine watchmaking, features a column wheel mechanism and vertical clutch. Reflecting Tudor's commitment to quality, the movement is built for exceptional durability and reliability, backed by rigorous testing.

The MT5813 is derived from the Breitling Chronograph Manufacture Calibre B01, featuring a high-precision regulating organ developed by Tudor and exclusive finishes. This movement is the product of a lasting collaboration between Tudor and Breitling, where both brands have pooled their expertise in designing and producing select mechanical movements.

This First Edition timepiece, designed with a symmetrical dual-dial layout, features an elegant 39-mm round case crafted from 18-karat white gold. As with all Armin Strom First Editions, it comes with an extended 10-year warranty, underscoring the brand’s commitment to longevity and excellence.

Armin Strom showcases its expertise in "the science of movement" with the Dual Time Resonance timepiece, offering an innovative level of resilience against disturbances to the Resonance effect.

On the dial side, the kinetic beauty of Resonance is fully revealed. The synchronized oscillation of two balance wheels in Resonance, coupled with the captivating pulsation of the clutch spring as it transfers vibrations between them, provides a mesmerizing visual experience.

One of the key features of this timepiece is its ability to set the two time zones entirely independently. Unlike most dual time zone watches, which typically allow independent adjustment of only the hours, Armin Strom’s Dual Time GMT Resonance permits both the hours and minutes to be set separately on each of the two dials.

At the heart of the Dual Time GMT Resonance First Edition is the new ARF22 calibre, a manually-wound Resonance movement, and the 18th in-house calibre developed under the guidance of Claude Greisler, Armin Strom’s co-founder and master watchmaker. This movement features two independent, symmetrically mirrored oscillators that synchronize in antiphase through the natural phenomenon of Resonance. Powered by two mainspring barrels, the watch offers a 42-hour power reserve, all managed by a single crown at 4 o’clock. The movement drives two separate gear trains for the independent time displays, with engraved and mirror-polished day/night indicators - depicting the sun and moon - mounted on 24-hour wheels.

While the dial side showcases many of the watch's most

visually intriguing features, the case back reveals the movement’s symmetrical architecture. The unique ratchet click system on the dial side enhances the winding experience, providing an engaging animation that transforms winding the watch into a multi-sensory experience.

Unlike traditional click mechanisms, the Dual Time GMT Resonance employs a three-dimensional ratchet mechanism connected to a pinion between the two barrels, ensuring even load distribution. This system includes a gear with Breguet teeth fixed to the main plate and a top element with a spring connected to the axis, resulting in smoother operation, more efficient energy transfer, and greater durability.

The First Edition features two symmetric sky-blue dials with a grenage finish, making Armin Strom the only brand currently producing Resonance timepieces with dual symmetric time dials. The dials are complemented by dual engraved and mirror-polished day/night indicators that display AM/PM for each time zone.

Two crowns, positioned at 4 and 8 o’clock, allow for independent setting of each dial. The watch is secured by an 18-karat white gold pin buckle and comes with two straps: a matte grey alligator strap with sky-blue stitching and a light grey alligator strap with pearl-grey stitching.

For this edition, the sky-blue grenage dials are framed by black azurage chapter rings with applied polished baton indexes, perfectly complementing the faceted hands. The twin balance bridge, crafted from steel, features a flat surface polished to a mirror finish, showcasing the highest standards of traditional haute horlogerie decoration.

The calibre’s lavish hand-finishing includes polished bevels, screws, and countersinks, along with circular graining, perlage, and Geneva stripes. The contrasting anthracite and silvery tones enhance the visual depth, creating a dramatic interplay of light and shadow.

The Classic Moonphase Date Manufacture watch makes a striking return in a refined, limited-edition version, now featuring a captivating malachite dial. This new iteration boasts significant updates, including a redesigned case, enhanced movement, upgraded hour markers and hands, and an extended 5-year warranty. With nearly double the power reserve (+89%), this exclusive model is limited to just 36 pieces, each housed in a 40mm white gold case.

This release marks the most significant transformation of the Classic Moonphase Date Manufacture watch to date, showcasing Frederique Constant’s dedication to innovation and elegance. The watch merges the date and moonphase into a single subdial, with newly designed hour markers and hands gracefully sweeping across the malachite dial for the first time.

While maintaining its classic appeal and signature complications, the watch introduces a fresh aesthetic aimed at enhancing its prestige among collectors and reinforcing its watchmaking excellence. This comprehensive update was meticulously approached from multiple angles.

The standout feature of this model is undoubtedly the malachite dial. Apart from a few rare models with meteorite dials, this marks the first time Frederique Constant has used a mineral dial. Malachite, with its light green to almost black streaks, symbolises renewal and offers a unique twist on the green-dial trend.

At 6 o’clock, the date and moonphase complications are elegantly combined in a single sub-dial. A silver moon moves across a starry grey-green sky within the sub-dial, matching the white gold case. A delicate silver-finish hand indicates the date, freeing up space on the dial to showcase the rich hues of the malachite.

The hour markers and hands have also been meticulously reimagined. The hour markers are now finer, with smaller markers at 5 and 7 o’clock to accommodate the curve of the date sub-dial. The three hand-polished central hands feature a new alpha-type design, while a traditional sector-dial minute track, reminiscent of early 20th-century styles, adds a touch of classic elegance.

The movement inside this watch, the FC-716 calibre, represents a significant upgrade. Equipped with an exclusive barrel, this new-generation Manufacture movement extends the power reserve from 38 to 72 hours. The bridges have been reworked to accommodate this enhancement, while still adhering to the original calibre family’s dimensions. This reliable movement has allowed Frederique Constant to extend the watch’s warranty from two to five years.

Each piece is individually engraved and numbered, and is paired with a topstitched dark green alligator strap with a folding buckle, adding the final touch of luxury to this exceptional timepiece.

FIFTYSIX SELF-WINDING

The Fiftysix collection draws its distinctive character from the 1950s, an era celebrated for its round, elegant timepieces. This collection takes particular inspiration from Vacheron Constantin's Reference 6073, introduced in 1956, a milestone in the Maison’s history. Notably, the 6073 was one of the first Vacheron Constantin watches to incorporate a self-winding movement, at a time when hand-wound mechanisms were still the norm.

This watch’s blend of technical innovation, precision, and reliability is matched by its bold design and retro elegance. The Fiftysix models echo this legacy with their streamlined design, highlighted by lugs inspired by the branches of the Maltese cross. Like the original, these timepieces feature a box-type crystal that sits prominently above the bezel, a sector-type dial, and a harmonious mix of Arabic numerals and baton-style hour markers, all hallmarks of the 1950s aesthetic.

The 40mm round case of this timepiece, crafted in 18K 5N pink gold, is gracefully extended by lugs inspired by the Maltese cross. The case encircles a sector-type dial that

pays homage to the watch designs of the 1950s. In a first for the collection, the dial is presented in a black tone with dual finishes - opaline at the centre and a sunburst effect on the chapter ringcreating a sophisticated interplay of light and shadow against the warm glow of the pink gold.

The dial’s contrast is further accentuated by applied 18K 5N pink gold Roman numerals, hour markers, and luminescentcoated hands, ensuring optimal legibility in low light. Topped with a box-type sapphire crystal, reminiscent of post-war watch styles, the dial exudes a retro-modern charm. A technical tribute to the ability of providing long power reserve, the new Luminor Dieci Giorni GMT ceramica encases the P.2003. The long power reserve feature traces back to the 1960s when Panerai utilised a SF240 movement produced by Angelus with eight days’ power reserve and the small seconds at 9 o’clock. With a diameter of 16 lignes, this calibre was derived from a mechanism for small table alarm clocks and had 15 jewels variable inertia balance wheel that beat with 18,000 vibrations per hour and Incabloc® anti-shock device. The power reserve was so long that there was much less need for winding, thus further reducing the wear on gaskets and the possibility of water infiltration and therefore meeting the rigorous requirements of the Italian Navy commandos.

The P.2003 is the first automatic calibre developed by Panerai within its Manufacture in Neuchâtel, Switzerland. In this ecosystem, technological innovation and horological craftsmanship of the Maison is driven by the “Laboratorio di Idee”. A division of the Research & Development Department, herein all the technical projects are crafted by the skilled hands of engineers, drawing inspiration from the archives and the Italian DNA of the Brand as well as pushing boundaries while ensuring that every new creation is consistent with the unmistakable Panerai character and identity.

With a distinctive long power reserve of 10 days, displayed on the dial by a linear indicator, the P.2003 calibre is made up of 296 components with 25 jewels, measuring 13 lignes in diameter with a thickness of 8mm. It has all the technical characteristics which form the DNA of the P.2000 series - free-sprung balance wheel with inertia regulation; 28,800 alternations per hour; three spring barrels; GMT function with 24-hour indication; rapid adjustment of local time; date; balance wheel stop; seconds reset device - but it is distinguished by having automatic winding with a power reserve of 10 days, operated by an oscillating weight mounted on a ball bearing, which winds the springs of the barrels as it rotates

in both directions. The P.2003 calibre also has the seconds reset device which resets the seconds hand to zero, enabling the watch to be synchronised with a reference time signal. The operation of the system is distinctive: when the winding crown is pulled out to the second position, a thin blade moves into contact with the balance wheel, stopping it. At the same time, a small hammer lever moves downwards and acts on a heart-shaped cam, which instantly moves the seconds hand to the zero position. As soon as the winding crown is returned to the normal position, the balance wheel is freed, the hammer lever is raised, thus releasing the cam, and the seconds hand resumes its normal course. Complementing the 10 Day Power Reserve is the GMT function that allows for the tracking of dual time zones, the quintessential complication for the most cosmopolitan of explorers.

The PAM01483 boasts a 44mm black ceramic case and a green sun-brushed sandwich dial with white SuperLumiNova®, complemented by an open titanium DLC case back and Luminor’s distinctive iconic crown-protecting device. Giving the watch a deep and dark look, the black ceramic case is also highly scratch-resistant. A tribute to the early 2000s models, the timepiece’s dial showcases a linear power reserve display and a striking orange GMT arrow with AM and PM indications to infuse the timepiece with a modern yet classic flair. The small seconds dial hands feature a stop-second reset of the device to ensure that the second’s hand resets to zero automatically when the crown is pulled out, allowing for precise time setting.

Featuring a sapphire crystal dome, the PAM01483 in an ode to the Maison’s earlier watch designs that provides added visibility and readability of the dial. The dome’s curvature accentuates the dial’s features, adding depth and dimension to the watch’s face.

The crystal of Panerai watches is made of sapphire, formed of corundum, a very hard material that is second only to diamond.

The open case back of the new timepiece allows for a clear view of the intricate movement, highlighting the technical proficiency and aesthetic of the watch. It embodies Panerai’s heritage, showcasing and dedication to transparency and excellence in watchmaking.

Water-resistant up to 10 bar (~100 meters), this watch has been rigorously tested, subjecting it to a pressure up to 25% greater than the guaranteed water resistance value to ensure it fulfils Panerai’s stringent standards.

The Luminor Dieci Giorni GMT ceramica, paired with a black alligator strap with a second military green rubber strap, appeals to the modern trendsetter, offering a more contemporary and assertive sporty design. The prestigious neighbourhood of Mayfair needs no introduction. However, while the area enjoys a world-renowned reputation today, it wasn't always so glittering. Mayfair’s humble beginning dates to before the Norman Conquest to Anglo-Saxon times. Through various bequeaths and following the Dissolution of the Monasteries, the ‘The Hundred Acres’ of pastureland that was eventually to become Mayfair passed in 1662 to Alexander Davies, who unfortunately died from the Plague in 1665 leaving the bulk of this estate to his infant daughter Mary, who was eventually betrothed and married to the baronet, Sir Thomas Grosvenor.

In 1686 the decision was taken with the approval of King James II, to move the then annual ‘May Fair’ from its original home to a corner of the muddy field owned by Lady Mary Grosvenor, today known as ‘Park Lane’. The annual May Fair continued to attract an unsavoury crowd and, to culturally improve the area in 1764 wealthy landowners commissioned property developer Edward Shepherd to design the area known today as ‘Shepherd Market’ as the new the home of the May Fair.

By an Act of Parliament in 1711, Mary’s land was then passed to the male line of the Grosvenor family and leases began to be granted to develop the vacant fields into an estate of “overriding architectural unity”. High levels of building followed, with royalty and aristocrats quickly snapping up residences in this now sought-after area.

Open seven days a week for breakfast, lunch and dinner, Mount St. Restaurant’s menu is inspired by the capital’s culinary history, while also featuring some traditional classics including an omelette Arnold Bennett and a lobster pie for two.

Honouring the past, while bringing recipes into the present with modern twists, standout dishes include a mock turtle croquette with oyster mayonnaise; Orkney scallops; caramelised shallot and fig tart with Driftwood goats cheese; and aged fillet of beef with bone marrow and mushroom on toast. The integration of art and design continues throughout the space with table lamps inspired by the iconic 1918 Powder Box by the late Swiss artist Sophie Taeuber-Arp, and salt and pepper cruets inspired by American artist Paul McCarthy’s muchdiscussed ‘Tree’ (2014) sculpture.

At the heart of the restaurant is the bar, made with beautifully enamelled lava stone with a crackle finish, curved verre bombé

glass panels and bespoke ceiling lights. Further championing British craftsmanship, the management uniforms for Mount St. Restaurant were designed by Savile Row’s female master tailor Kathryn Sargent using fine British wool, while plateware was designed by Richard Brendon, a British designer based in Stokeon-Trent.

Visit the Fortress of Louisbourg, a National Parks Canada historic site which is the largest reconstruction project in North America. In addition to being credited as the inventor of the telephone, Bell worked on many other world achievements while in Baddeck including a hydrofoil that set a long-lasting speed record for watercraft and the first manned flight of an airplane in the British Commonwealth.

The Alexander Graham Bell National Historic Site is a unique exhibit complex where a Parks Canada guide will give you an overview of the models, replicas, photo displays, artifacts and films describing the fascinating life and work of this extraordinary man. Bell was an inventor, scientist, teacher, and devoted family man. The site commemorates the legacy of his many inventions and innovations, as well as the lasting impact he and his wife, Mabel had on the community of Baddeck.

London’s largest garden party Cocktails in the City is back for its last hurrah of the summer. From 5th to 7th September, Bedford Square Garden will become a treasure trove of summertime memories waiting to be unlocked for the cocktail festival’s Newstalgia Edition; bringing your favourite throwback drinks trends into the here and now with clever 2020's twists.

Inspired by the past yet created in the present, guests can rediscover all the playfulness of their favourite early cocktail experiences expertly reimagined by London’s best bartenders using some of the best artisanal spirits and ingredients out there to suit more grown-up palates. Laki Kane Bar Owner Georgi Radev will be reliving his past as long-time bar manager of celebrity haunt cocktail lounge Mahiki as he pops up with the relaunched Mahiki Rum Brand for the first time at Cocktails in the City. Georgi comments; “I have fond memories of my time at Mahiki and it built my career, so I’m delighted to be bringing Laki Kane’s good time vibes to Cocktails in the City with Mahiki Rum this September.”

Continue the celebrations of National Cinema Day - a holiday that aims to entice film lovers back to the cinema across the country - with a glass of Champagne. In 2006 film ‘Casino Royale’, he says “If you agree, I would prefer to drink Champagne with you tonight. It is a cheerful wine, and it suits the occasion - I hope.”.

There is no denying the role that Champagne has played time and time again in film, and as Cary Grant’s character Nickie Ferrante said in 1957 film ‘An Affair to Remember’, “do you not think life should be fresh and bubbly like Champagne?”. The frequently changing menu at Volta do Mar offers a unique culinary experience and an array of traditional Portuguese dishes, reflecting the delicious regional cuisine that Portugal is known for. In addition to these classics, they feature dishes inspired by the countries and cultures connected to Portugal through its historic trade routes. Head Chef Isabel draws inspiration from her diverse heritage of Portuguese, Angolan, Cape Verdean, and Goan descent and the seasonally evolving menu is rooted in generations of family tradition. Catch the last of summer at one of London's favourite alfresco spots, Dalloway Terrace. From now until the end of October, the terrace promises to transport guests from the bustling streets of London to an English wildflower-filled meadow complete with a charming selection of beautifully crafted Silent Pool Gin cocktails.

Inspired by Virginia Woolf’s novel Mrs Dalloway, the stunning installation plays on the restaurant’s central city location in Bloomsbury, mirroring the juxtaposition between the main character Mrs Dalloway’s youth spent in the peaceful British countryside and her vibrant adult life in London.

Set against a backdrop of fresh green foliage, white English roses and peonies, plus lavender, hydrangeas and wisteria, the terrace offers a serene escape amid its urban surroundings where guests can sip on bespoke cocktails. Menu highlights include the coconutty Mrs Dalloway Club - made from Silent Pool Gin, Cocchi Rosa, lemon juice, honey, raspberry and coconut milk; and the refreshing and mild Surrey Hills Bee’s Knees featuring Bee Friends Honey Water harvested at Silent Pool’s distillery in Albury along with Silent Pool Gin, lemon juice and lavender.

For something fizzy and floral, the Sgroppino Royale is a blend of Silent Pool Gin, homemade Pimm’s Sorbet and Prosecco, just perfect for sipping in the sunshine, while the Butterfly Tea & Tonic made from Silent Pool Gin, butterfly tea and London Essence orange and elderflower tonic is elegant and refined. Finally, the Albury Park Negroni - made with Silent Pool Gin, Italicus Rosolio di Bergamotto and Beesou Bitter Honey - is also not to be missed.

The terrace menu also welcomes some delicious new additions to its menu in celebration of the collaboration, including Cornish Plaice ceviche with avocado and a chilli and citrus dressing; courgette and garden pea risotto with Cashel blue cheese and toasted pine nuts and a wonderfully seasonal English Strawberry tart served with Pimm’s sorbet. Other standout dishes on the a la carte menu include Portland Crab fresh linguine with datterini tomatoes, and Balck miso cod fillet with pan choi and sticky Jasmine rice. Silent Pool Gin’s limited-edition menu will run until October 2024.

Before the amuse bouche course of egg and soldiers, delightful little snack dishes of 30-month aged compte with chives and garlic vichyssoise as well sourdough bread arrive. The ‘egg’ is something completely different and consists of artichoke and a scrambled egg mousse served in an eggshell in an egg cup in the shape of what looks like a chicken’s claw. The sough dour soldier is crisp and delicious and perfectly complements the egg.

Each consecutive course consisting of Celeriac with mint and pecorino ragout; Monkfish with lemongrass, asparagus and vin jeune; Duck served with beetroot, radish, Timur pepper and a Pont Neuf chip are all little platefuls of the most amazing dishes you can imagine.

The sixth course consisting of a selection of farmhouse cheeses sets you up for the pre-dessert dish of pineapple, chamomile and coconut. Dessert itself comes in the shape of a large strawberry with sweet cicely, almond and sesame.

There is no doubt that this reasonably priced menu offers a unique experience and does exactly what a tasting menu should. Each course and every mouthful are bursting full of wonderful flavours which is the true essence of a tasting menu.

Lively Latin American Restaurant and Bar, Amazónico, located in Berkeley Square, has launched a new Weekend Lunch Menu, the ‘Amazónico Asado’, available Saturday’s and Sunday’s from 12pm until 4pm.

Building on the successful debut of the Bentley Blower Jnr at last year’s Monterey Car Week - displayed in a striking Old English White exterior with a Cricket Ball leather interior - Bentley and Hedley Studios (formerly known as The Little Car Company) are now offering a range of customisable options for this 85 percent scale, fully electric, and road-legal recreation of the iconic 1929 4½-Litre supercharged Bentley ‘Blower.’

Customers can now personalise their Bentley Blower Jnr using a newly launched online configurator, which allows for thousands of possible combinations of interior and exterior colours, as well as unique customisations like hand-painted numbers and national flags on the body.

Hedley Studios’ configurator offers six specially curated packs, each celebrating a significant chapter in Bentley’s storied history. For example, 'The Blue Pack' pays homage to Woolf Barnato’s legendary race against the Blue Train from the Côte d’Azur to Calais, a race he famously won in his Bentley Speed Six. Meanwhile, 'The Grey Pack' honours the Speed Six’s victories at Le Mans in 1929 and 1930, before the car was transformed by Barnato into a road-going coupé finished in a striking gunmetal grey.

Only 250 of these customisable models will be produced, bringing the total production of the Bentley Blower Jnr to 349 units worldwide, following the sell-out success of the 99 limited First Editions.

To ensure authenticity, Hedley Studios meticulously recreated the Blower Jnr at 85 percent of the original car's size, resulting in a 3.7-meter long and 1.5-meter wide vehicle that captures the essence of its predecessor. Unlike other creations by Hedley Studios, the Blower Jnr is fully road-legal, blending classic design

with modern functionality, making it one of the most sophisticated city cars ever crafted.

Handcrafted to the same high standards as any Bentley, the Blower Jnr is powered by a 48V electric powertrain with a 15 kW (20 bhp) motor. This setup delivers a top speed of 45 mph (72 km/h) in the UK and EU, and 25 mph (40 km/h) in the USA due to local regulations, along with an estimated range of 65 miles. The car features tandem seating for two adults, making it both a stylish and practical mode of transportation.

The true beauty of the Blower Jnr lies in its detailed recreation and reinterpretation of the original car’s features. The vehicle’s painted steel frame supports an authentic chassis specification, while leaf springs and scaled-down, period-correct friction dampers ensure a smooth ride. Stopping power is provided by Brembo disc brakes at the front and drums at the rear, with the electric motor mounted across the rear axle and the batteries and electronics discreetly housed in an undertray.

The bodywork, constructed in two sections, showcases a blend of traditional craftsmanship and modern materials. The rear structure is made from carbon fibre - rather than the original ash frame - covered in impregnated fabric to mirror the original, while the hand-crafted aluminium bonnet features multiple cooling louvres and is secured with leather buckled straps. Inside the 1+1 cockpit, the driver sits in a centrally adjustable position, with the passenger seated behind. A bespoke weekend bag can be stored in the scaled-down, re-purposed fuel tank, which includes a lockable latch.

The supercharger casing at the front cleverly conceals the charging port, which connects to any Type 1 or Type 2 socket. The famous Bentley mesh grille, set in an authentic nickel-plated radiator housing, adds to the car’s vintage charm.

The dashboard, at first glance, appears to be a miniature replica of the original, featuring Engine Turned Aluminium. The original fuel pressurisation hand pump has been reimagined as a drive mode selector, offering three settings: Comfort (2kW), Bentley (8kW), and Sport, which unleashes the full 15kW of power. A lever that mimics the ignition advance control of the original Blower selects Forward, Neutral, or Reverse, while the headlight and indicator switches replicate the look and feel of the magneto switches from the Team Car. The battery charge gauge is styled after the original ammeter.

The Triumph Spitfire is a classic British sports car produced across five generations from 1962 to 1980. Designed in 1957 by the renowned Italian designer Giovanni Michelotti for StandardTriumph, the Spitfire made its debut at the London Motor Show in 1962. Over its 18-year production run, approximately 315,000 units were built at the Standard-Triumph Canley plant.

This car's development was initiated to compete in the growing small sports car market, particularly targeting the Austin-Healey Sprite. While the Sprite was built using the drivetrain from the Austin A30/A35 and featured a lightweight body, the Spitfire leveraged mechanical components from the Triumph Herald saloon. Unlike the Austin A30's unitary construction, the Herald was built on a separate backbone chassis, which Triumph cleverly downsized to avoid the costs associated with designing an entirely new chassis-body unit.

One of the Spitfire's distinctive features was its wind-down windows, a more advanced option compared to the side curtains used by its rivals, the Sprite and Midget. Additionally, the Spitfire's front cowl, which included the bonnet and wings, opened forward, allowing easy access to the engine.

However, the Spitfire's launch was postponed due to financial difficulties faced by Standard-Triumph in the early 1960s. The

project was only revived after Leyland Motors acquired the company. While evaluating their new purchase, Leyland executives discovered Michelotti's prototype hidden under a dust sheet in the factory and quickly gave the green light for its production.

Developed on a shortened version of the Triumph Herald saloon's chassis, utilising the Herald's running gear and the Standard SC engine, it featured a body-on-frame construction, with additional structural support provided by components within the bodywork, and rear trailing arms that were attached directly to the body instead of the chassis. The car came equipped with a manually operated convertible top, which saw significant improvements in later models, and a factory-option hard-top was also available for enhanced weather protection.

Named after the iconic Supermarine Spitfire fighter aircraft from World War II, this car carries a legacy of performance and style that is a distinguished example of British automotive design.

This example is a 1969 Triumph Spitfire Series 3, featuring white coachwork, a black interior, wire wheels, and overdrive, with just 71,265 miles on the odometer. This particular vehicle is a rare find, having been owned by a single lady since new, and comes complete with the original purchase invoice, manuals, and an extensive service history.

Ariel Motor Company, the UK-based specialist in producing ultra-lightweight vehicles for road, track, and off-road use, has introduced the E-Nomad concept - a fully electric version of its renowned go-anywhere sports car.

The E-Nomad matches the rapid acceleration of its internal combustion engine counterpart, sprinting from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.4 seconds, while maintaining the high-performance, all-terrain capabilities the Nomad is known for. Weighing in at just 896kg, the E-Nomad features innovative bodywork made from recyclable natural fibre bio-composite materials, which not only improves aerodynamic efficiency but also allows for a range of up to 150 miles (240 km).

Ariel’s engineering team designed and built the zero-emission E-Nomad at their headquarters near Crewkerne in Somerset.

Based on the recently introduced Ariel Nomad 2, this new model is powered by a 41kWh, 450-volt battery that supplies energy to an integrated motor, gearbox, and inverter unit at the rear. This setup delivers a maximum output of 210kW (281 bhp).

The single-speed gearbox, paired with 490Nm of torque, provides exceptional on-road performance while ensuring stability and control on difficult terrain. With its consistent torque delivery, the E-Nomad offers the same extreme on and off-road capabilities as its petrol-powered version, proving that Ariel’s commitment to "serious fun" seamlessly translates into "seriously clean fun" with this electric model.

London’s property market has remained robust over the second quarter of 2024, despite some uncertainty in the run-up to July’s general election. Savills latest research showed that transaction numbers for properties valued at £5million-plus still remain significantly stronger than they were before the pandemic, despite the nature of this market being highly discretionary.

Richard Gutteridge, co-head of Savills prime central London details how prime sales in the capital have strengthened over the quarter, with buyers looking to secure an address in some of London’s most prestigious postcodes.

£5 million-plus transactions remain robust

There were a total of 120 £5 million-plus secondhand and new build sales across London in Q2 2024 with a combined value of £1.27 billion. This is an increase on the 92 recorded in Q1, and 38% up on the pre-pandemic average (Q2 2017-19). Although sales volumes remain -15% lower than Q2 2023. Similarly, for the £10 million-plus market there were 38 sales across London in Q2 2024, 18% up on prepandemic levels but -10% down on the same quarter last year.

Over the quarter, the greatest proportion (15%) of £5 million-plus sales took place in Belgravia, far higher than the 9% seen in the three years prior, thanks to greater investment into the area making it more

attractive to younger buyers, in particular. Traditional prime addresses in Kensington (14%), Mayfair (11%) and Chelsea (10%) closely followed - their appeal largely attracting domestic and international families seeking the lifestyle balance available here.

In keeping with strong domestic demand, £5 millionplus house sales made up a significant proportion of activity (64%) during the first half of 2024, with the highest number of house sales taking place in Kensington and Chelsea, both well-known for their larger family houses.

What do the non-dom changes mean for prime central London

The impact of non-dom tax changes is likely to be most keenly felt in prime central London, where those affected have been weighing up their options.

Demand from domestic and other international purchasers has continued to be resilient, especially given the value on offer in a historical context, as well as growing stability in the mortgage market, with some lenders starting to lower rates in anticipation of a base rate cut.

However, it’s important to remember that most prime central London buyers do not have a non-dom status. Furthermore, there is little evidence to suggest that we will see a flurry of stock coming onto the market, as many of those affected by non-dom changes are likely to retain their base in the capital.

Outlook

While much remains to be seen in terms of specific policies and proposals from the new government, sentiment is likely to improve now that the results of the general election are known.

Across central London, some may remain cautious ahead of Labour’s first fiscal event, but buyers are continuing to recognise the value on offer, both in a historical context and relative to other prime locations around the world.
