The Relentless Pursuit of Happiness It is cliché to say that February is the month associated most with the word “love”, not only because of Valentine's Day but also because of a string of lovelorn days before it. Over the course of time, love has changed its meaning and dimension to quite an extent. The trends have changed perennially and love, from being a feeling of selfless giving, has become a package of materialistic requirements and intense feelings. Old definitions in love have been replaced by newer, more practical ones and relationships nowadays are more taxing than ever. Nevertheless, what remains the same is the s e e m i n g l y re l e nt l e s s pursuit of happiness. Society today has become more rational and open-minded to love and sex than ever before, owing to which newer forms of relationships are trending. What remains to be seen is whether the society can accept the new trends with a positive frame of mind for the

betterment of itself whilst still clinging to its roots, or if the age-old definitions of culture and tradition shall perish in this tide of change. The cover feature of this issue of Yours Youthfully takes a closer looks at the various kinds of relationships prevalent in the society, per se and in an unbiased, non-judgmental fashion. In sports, where on one hand Novak Djokovic came out on top in the Australian Open final in an epic encounter with Rafael Nadal that lasted for about six hours, on the other hand there is some serious action on the field going on in the Barclay Premiere League which football fans wouldn't want to miss. With Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham battling it out for the top spot, this is one league to watch out for. The health section also elaborates on how to keep the heart healthy and romantic; by following some simple steps and being with your better half, both at the same

London, Melbourne, New York Novak Djokovic has shown what it takes to win every title on every surface.

Follow Vivek Singh on Twitterwww.twitter.com/pseudopatriot

Vivek Singh Novak Djokovic yet again besieged the citadel of Raphael Nadal, this time in Australian Open final at Melbourne. Djokovic got past Nadal 5-7, 6-4, 6-2,6-7,7-5 in an epic encounter. It was Djokovic's third successive win over Nadal in a grand slam final. The ace Serbian star overpowered Rafa in a match in which the players won 369 points between them, made 140 unforced errors, played 55 games plus a tiebreaker and hit 101 winners. The clash lasted for around six hours, the longest title match in grand slam history. Djokovic after winning this title joined the elite band of players Rod Laver, Pete Sampras, Roger Federer and Raphael Nadal, who have won three consecutive grand slam titles. Last year Djokovic won three of the four grand slams and five masters, became number one and assembled 70-6 win record so expectations were high Djokovic too was very confident before going into the game. He even stated that he has an edge over Nadal as he has defeated him in six consecutive matches, all in finals. A confident Novak in the summit clash created the difference. He fought back after losing the first set to win next two but defiant Rafa won fourth set to make sure that it would not be a cakewalk for the Serb to defend his title. The growing rivalry between Nadal and Djokovic has given tennis lovers a reason to rejoice and in the final both of them displayed some beautiful piece of tennis to enthrall the crowd that was present.

Novak in the final played with the style that he is known for and that gave him an edge over Nadal. He clearly emphasized on the aggressive baseline to which Nadal had no answer to give. His ground strokes from both the wings we re co n s i ste nt , d e e p a n d penetrating. He used his best weapon, backhand, hit down the line frequently in the match and used his serves to gather the aces. He was looking more agile than his opponent in the match. Djokovic who is known as one of the best counter servers and returns the serve with immense power did exactly the same in the final. Djokovic stuck to basics but in the end it was his ability to rise to the occasion and keep himself calm and composed during the tense moments of the game that left Nadal dejected during and after the game.

After the match, he ripped off his shirt in celebration and marched in his player box, flexing his muscles and then bugging his coach. He was humble after his win and showed respect for Rafa. “Rafa you are one of the best players ever. You are one of the best respected guys on the tour,” he said. “We made history tonight and unfortunately there could not be two winners. But I wish all the best for this season and I hope we will have many more finals,” he added. This win was very special for the Serb as he said “Wimbledon's triumph last year was special but s win at Melbourne is even better. What next? Paris, he says. Well it would be idoneous to say that Djokovic has proven on numerous occasions that he can really be one of the candidates to win every grand slam on every surface.

The Best of Football

Here’s a look at the best of football the in the last month. Club of the Month Manchester United

Player of the Month David Silva

The most celebrated side of the English premier league, Manchester United, is back on track. Yes there were ups and downs for the team in the initial phase of the tournament, but now team is on a roll after their recent wins against Arsenal, Stoke City, Bolton and against the arch rivals Liverpool. Barring their defeat against Liverpool in F.A. Cup, the te a m p e r fo r m a n c e l o o ke d outstanding throughout the league. The team combination is working well. The trio of skipper Nemanja Vidic, Patric Evra and Rio Ferdinand are looking good in the defense as they have conceded only 21 goals in 23 matches. In the midfield too Nani and Ryan Giggs are playing their part well, especially Giggs, who is proving to be strong in the air and clinical in the penalty area. Forward Wayne Rooney is in sublime touch and has scored 15 goals in the league so far. He, along with Dimiter Berbatov and Xavier Hernandez, has shown an exquisite blend of skill, strength and intelligence. Rooney is definitely their asset and in the last few games he has silenced all his knockers and doubters with his stupendous show of soccer. So with their comprehensive wins against Liverpool, Arsenal and Stoke City ManU is the team of the month.

The unheralded side of Manchester City is going great in the English premier league. They are on top in the points table. Many credits to its coach Mr. Roberto Mancini, but in my view the gifted playmaker Mr. David Silva is the man in the midfield who had crated all the difference. This Spanish lad has played his part in almost every game. City first brought Silva from Valencia in the summer of 2010 and he has been quite impressive right from his debut against Tottenham Hotspur in the opening game of the last season. Silva has been the fulcrum of the team's attack for many times in the season. He has shown prospect not only as central defender but also as a striker. He has become the gem of the side thanks to his immense skill at passing, picking out players, navigating his way out of trouble and most of all in setting great opportunities for his teammates. So David is the key man in the squad and his play is fundamental in the team's success. His teammate Yaya Toure said “City will win E.P.L because we have Silva, the best player in the league so far.” It is his consistent performance in the league that makes him the player of the month.

Manager of the Month Harry Redknapp

With almost half the season still to go and Manchester City in the lead, Manchester United is on the second spot. A question keeps arising- Can Tottenham Hotspur (currently standing third in the points tally) win this coveted title? “It is not impossible for us to win the league,” says Mr. Harry Redknapp, the manager of the club. Harry knows the art of man management and has triumphed keeping the non-playing members of a big squad focused and ambitious and prepared to give everything for the cause when called upon. Harry made sensible and intitutive purchases last summer to make a team of his own, a team on which he can rely. For instance, he purchased Mr. Rafael Van Der Vaart and Mr. Scott Parker. The team is prospering under the management of Redknapp. He has impressed as the manager of Tottenham upto that extent that he is now a front runner for the post of manager of England. Because of his success as Tottenham manager, he is often compared with the great Mr. Bill Nicholson, who guided Tottenham to win E.P.L. and F.A. Cup double in 1961. Could he deliver Tottenham the first league title in 51 years? Only time will tell. Yours Youthfully -

For the Love of CHOCOLATE Other things are just food, but chocolate’s chocolate!

Rachana Pathak The Mayan calendar is under scrutiny for its accuracy of the apocalyptic predictions but we cannot take away their well deserved credit for something far c o n s e q u e n t i a l . We o w e i t enormously to the Mayans for discovering a way to savour the treasure that rested in the cacao beans, which better came to be known and adored by all- as “chocolate”!! We may hate them for their 2012 goof up, but we got

to love them for our love of chocolate! Somehow chocolate has made its place in the society as a symbol of our emotions, when one wants to convey love or gratitude or friendship or any positive emotion, chocolate symbolizes it the best! One flaw that I find in our a s s o c i a t i o n w i t h t h e w o rd chocolate is that, that our perception has become pretty much stereotyped and we tend to

Alcoholic Hot Chocolate Imagine something absolutely satiating, that teleports you to a world of fluid food that indulges all your senses. Such is the magic of a nice yummy hot chocolate. Especially on wintery evenings or just before hitting the bed, nothing feels better than a filling cup of this ambrosial drink! Chocolate was first consumed as a drink and not as solid food, and actually gets its name from the Mayan word xocolatl that means “bitter water”. Thankfully when the Spanish laid their hands on this drink they replaced the peppery spices in the recipe with sugar and vanilla and brought it to its present version. The purists hold that hot chocolate and hot cocoa differ in terms of the ingredient used- chocolate or cocoa powder. So sticking with real chocolate I am talking of hot chocolate drink here. The recipe is so simple that even a child can oblige. Solid dark chocolate, semisweet or bittersweet is first melted in hot milk in a pan along with additions of cinnamon, sugar and honey. Heated chocolate melts

completely losing its identity to the milk realm and all the flavours merge to give that exclusive taste that quenches your foodie thirst. This is the usual hot chocolate p re p a rat i o n t h at i s s e r ve d embellished with whipped cream or marshmallows, sprinkled with chocolate powder for g o u r m a n d i ze d b e a u t y. T h e alcoholic adaptation of this beverage is not too alcoholic actually, that could possibly kill the soul of this drink. So just to add to the exquisiteness of the hot chocolate feel, spoonfuls of rum or cognac or schnapps are added in the end before serving. Sometimes

think of chocolate only in forms such as branded yummy chocolate bars or assorted candies or delicious cakes or incredible icecreams, which we encounter almost on a daily basis! Let your foodie imagination step out of this confinement and be receptive to the other luscious chocolate delights that await you, let nothing hold you back, go ahead and explore them out all. So here is an elite chocolate extravaganza, just for you!

a tiny bit of salt is also added as it helps in enhancing the flavour of chocolate in the drink. When I say that hot chocolate is an ambrosial drink I mean no exaggeration here, because the biological name of the cocoa tree is Theobroma cacao. Some may simply assume that it is related to the element bromine, but basically it translates to “food for the Gods” in Greek, theo meaning- relating to God and broma meaning- food. No doubt the contentment following a serving of hot chocolate is so amazing, after all it was meant to please the Gods, and we humans are bound to worship it! Yours Youthfully -

Food Baci Di Dama Baci di dama in Italian translates to “ L a d y ' s k i s s e s ”. T h e s e a r e celebrated Italian cookies and have a history dating back to the 1800's. Different villages in Italy claim to be the birth place of baci di dama, but the stories still remain unendorsed. Some even say a local baker had brought together this cookie recipe to please a contemporary ruling king. This lip-smacking cookie has the same effect on food lovers as the smell of prey on sharks. Once you taste it, you just don't wish to part from it, even the thought of sharing may seem painful. The light crumbly cookies filled with a blend of buttery and roasted hazelnuty flavours hold between them the soft gorgeous chocolate, the fusion of which is a feel extraordinaire. Sometimes instead of hazelnuts almonds are used but still these cookies are a lot different from amaretti, which are almond flavoured Italian biscuits. For the cookie dough the sugar is creamed in butter with a smidgen of salt and almond essence and some rum,

and powdered roasted nuts are added to this mixture. Next flour is added making a nice smooth uniform dough. The dough is fashioned into small round semicircular balls and baked to a golden orange colour. The cookies are allowed to cool a little and then dollops of ganache filling are placed between two baked cookies and allowed to become a little firm. The chocolate filling is prepared by melting semisweet chocolate in butter and heavy cream with a dash of rum.

Baci di dama was named so because when you bite the cookie it resembles the lips of a lady kissing. The intermingling of all the lovely ingredients is conducive to the creation of an awesome cookie which truly lives up to its name! These cookies make a perfect sought after serving for merry occasions as everybody just loves their small but powerful chocolaty performance on the platter! I guess when they say that great things come in small packages, they are damn right about it!

Chocolate Tiramisu The literal translation of tira mi su is “Pick me up” or “Pull me up”. The coffee and sugar content of this filling dessert get you all charged up with fresh vitality and probably hence the name. The focus of a typical tiramisu recipe is the espresso coffee liquor used, but for a chocolate tiramisu, chocolate changes that fact taking away the limelight. The preparation of tiramisu may give an impression of it being a very old and traditional recipe but be awed by the fact that

it came into being just four decades back and yet it has become a world famous Italian dessert! This is a lovely layered arrangement of pleasing ingredients that claims all your attention leaving all other senses numbed. In a chocolate tiramisu, instead of ladyfinger cake, a chocolate flavoured sponge cake is used. The cake layer is soaked with espresso liquor and above it is spread a nice thick uniform layer of custard prepared with egg yolk, sugar, mascarpone cheese, egg white, vanilla and dark chocolate-

all blended to give a soft velvety tiramisu cream. These cakey and creamy layers alternate with each other and in between lies rich cocoa powder sprinkled along with roasted nuts. A lavish garnishing of nuts on top fashionably finishes the dessert. The arrangement is prepared in a tray or lined by ladyfingers to contain it in an elegant manner and decorated with ribbons to catch your gourmet eye! For coffee-chocolate lovers, tiramisu is equivalent to hitting a Yours Youthfully -

Chocolate Fondue Cheese fondue is a Swiss delicacy but chocolate fondue is not! It is very much American, a result of a culinary experiment that was essentially meant to promote the sales of Toblerone chocolate bars in the New York city! There are only a very few cuisines whose origin can be traced back to point sources, and chocolate fondue is one of them, its birth place being the kitchen of a restaurant named the Swiss Chalet. Fondue derives from the French word fondre which means “to melt”. A fondue is a complete cuisine with small pieced foods that are savoured dipped in warm sauce. Chocolate fondue is an excellent way to conclude special dinners, leaving you with a mouthful of pure chocolate bliss. The recipe is not demanding but yes it is enormously rewarding in terms of the gratification it fills you with. Heavy cream is simmered with appropriate amounts of sugar, and if any extra flavours are intended like mint or vanilla, they are added while simmering and then taken out before addition of chocolate to the cream. If vanilla paste is used instead of beans there is no need for straining that out. After simmering the cream for about 2-3 minutes, it is removed from heat and chocolate is added, allowing it to melt and infuse into the cream saturating the cream with a rich bountiful taste. The key to making lavish fondues is using high end chocolate, the better the chocolate t h e y u m m i e r t h e re l i s h i n g experience. Fondues can also be made with white chocolate,

marbled fondues use both white chocolate and cocoa chocolate. Fondue tends to thicken as it cools down so it is served in fondue pots that support a small fire for keeping the sauce warm. The thickening can be lessened by adding little portions of cream to maintain a consistency. The pristine chocolate fountains are an epicurean delight, that came into picture in the 90's, were actually crafted for serving chocolate fondues and genuinely succeeded in fortifying the glory of this very rich and silky cuisine. The warm chocolate sauce is served with a platter of cool fruits or cakes or an appetizing fare. This spectacular combination of chocolacious lava and arctic morsels is indeed breathtaking, and keeps you coming back for more and more until you feel satisfied. But then can the greed for chocolate be satisfied ever? I don't think so unless you are John Midas

from The Chocolate touch, who turned everything that his mouth touched- into chocolate! Chocolate is the nature's gift to lift up your spirits, eating chocolate has the same elevating effect as falling in love! Every sane person likes chocolate, and the insane ones love it! Chocolate is all about happy times- your childhood memories, your sibling rivalry, your birthday parties, times when you were rewarded for being a good kid, your first crush, your best friend forever moments, times when you've said thank you, when you proudly won a bet or when you lost one to a close friend, when you were made to feel s p ecial! All th es e p recio u s moments have been written down w it h co co a letters in yo u r memories, to stay engraved forever! Chocolate is not of this earth I say, and to summarize it all I would quote Catling here- “Other things are just food, but chocolate's chocolate!” Yours Youthfully -

LOVE, February….Hugs…Red Roses…Kisses….Valentine's Day….LOVE. It's strange all of us have heard about it, used it, seen it and read about it, some of us have even felt it; but very few of us really know what it actually is? As simple as it can get, love can be looked at as a strong feeling of personal attachment and affection. It has also been long considered to be a VIRTUE. The love I am talking about here is the intimacy and passionate desire of romantic love and also the sexual love expressed by Eros. It has been understood as part of the survival instinct, a function to keep human beings together against menaces and to facilitate the continuation of the species. The concept of love has evolved `from the past centuries. The ideas of love in the past were different from what love has become now. The rules of romance and courting have been shifting rapidly in the last 50 years and now many people are so clueless as to what they are supposed to do that

they're paying experts to teach them how to make that connection. Our expectations from marriage and our relationships are also different. How much has the nature of what is perceived as 'romantic' changed from the past? How much do we even know about what brought people together thousands of years ago? Is the modern relationship of mutual attraction to bring mutual happiness one which existed in the past, and how do archaic relationships sit with our modern morals? This valentines let's explore some ancient and some offbeat contemporary ideas of love. Neolithic Age, that is, the new Stone Age was seen around 9500 BC. Agriculture was the aim of Neolithic life and a farmer with progressive technology would have a better harvest than his rival, and so he stood a better chance of survival and was more attractive to women. The Neolithic period saw the start of ritualized and official marriage and brings us the earliest joint burials. If any single society

has influenced later romantic ideals and ideas of love it is Ancient Greece. The heroes in Greek myth and legend were idealized versions of humanity, the models which were aspired to then and indeed ever since. The two great epic poems attributed to Homer, the Iliad and Odyssey, are both love stories. In the Iliad two kingdoms fight for the love of a beautiful woman and in the Odyssey the hero is trying to get back from Troy to Ithaca to return to his wife and child - before another suitor can replace him. The romance of Courtly Love practiced during the Middle Ages was combined with the Code of Chivalry. There were strict rules of courtly love and the art of courtly love was practiced by the members of the courts across Europe during the Middle Ages. The romance, rules and art of courtly love allowed knights and ladies to show their admiration regardless of their marital state. It was a common occurrence for a married lady to give a token to a knight of her choice to Yours Youthfully -

AAJ KAL be worn during a medieval tournament. There were r u l e s w h i c h gove r n e d courtly love but sometimes the parties, who started their relationship with such elements of courtly love, would become deeply involved. The contemporary ideas of love are very different from the ancient ideas of love given above. Today's youth believes in a different mantra of love and the passion and trust that was vital in a love relationship does not exist anymore. Life for today's stripling is a massive masquerade and love has been hidden under masks of different emotions and needs. Love has been used as a support to fulfill other motives, and most of the times one does not even know they are doing this. A typical form of love increasingly seen in youngsters is the attainment of the “committed” tag. One does not qualify to exist unless they are linked to someone in a romantic connotation. This leads to relationships, which are formed only for the attainment of the tag.

Proposals, long chats, gifts, kissing, sex and break ups follow and in the long term the two realize that they were “not meant for each other”. This might also be known as a fling or a casual relationship. Another popular form of love for the Generation Next is being 'F*** Buddies' or 'Sex Partners' or 'Friends with Benefits'. This relationship can be defined in many ways and as simple as it can get, a relationship to satisfy the sexual needs of one another, without having any feelings or attachment. All the benefits of being in a relationship minus the bulls*** like not doing enough for Valentine's Day or birthdays, not spending 3months' salary on a ring, and not spending enough quality time with each other is how this relationship can be defined. Often used to describe two people who use each other solely for sexual gratification and nothing else. Usually this is a sexual relationship that still allows for each partner to seek sexual and emotional relationships with other people (hence, no

Bhumika Gupta attachments) but can rely on each other for a quickie or a booty call. Another trend that is called love in today's times is the old and young relationship; younger guy, older woman (married or unmarried) or young girl and older man (married or unmarried) relationships. This can also be called Age Disparity in a romantic or sexual relationship. Relationships with age disparity of all kinds have been observed with both men and women as the older or younger significant other. In the modern Western culture, older men often seek younger women. Older women often date younger men as well, and in both cases wealth and physical attractiveness are often relevant. Another relationship which is termed as LOVE is e x t r a m a r i t a l a f f a i r. Extramarital affairs are relationships outside of marriage where an illicit romantic or sexual relationship or a romantic friendship or passionate attachment occurs when one still is in a legal marriage. The reasons could Yours Youthfully -

Cover Feature In today's world, to love does not only mean to have a strong attraction or personal affection. It has come a long way from there and it probably means everything other than that. be diversified such as incompatibility, financial issues, insecurity, abusing, tangentially opposite backgrounds, age differences etc. The present day work culture and the current upward trend in social interactions also aid in nourishing them. Values like commitment are being r e p l a c e d b y 'experimenting'. An arrangement where two people who are not married live together in an intimate relationship, particularly an emotionally and/or sexually intimate one, on a long-term or permanent basis is called a 'Live In' or 'Cohabitation'. This is generally a love relationship where the couple eliminates the idea of marriage completely and live together as a married couple. The reasons that couple give for not getting married can be many. They may want to test their compatibility before they commit to a legal union. They may want to maintain their single status for financial reasons. In some cases, such as those involving gay or lesbian

couples, or individuals already married to another person, the law does not allow them to marry. In other cases, the partners may feel that marriage is unnecessary. These couples face some of the same legal issues as married couples, as well as some issues that their married friends need never consider. This is a way for the new generation to express LOVE and still have NO STRINGS ATTACHED. Love does not necessarily exist between people of the same sex. Today the world and law has accepted same sex relationships, love and even marriage. But somehow the society has not entirely come to terms with it. A man-man relationship, gays and a woman-woman relationship, lesbians are relationships between people of the same sex. These are people who LOVE people of the same gender as them and also want to have a relationship with them. Homosexuality has become faddish in today's world but the society has not taken it on a positive note. Another orientation,

bisexuality is sexual behavior or an orientation involving physical or romantic attraction to both males and females, especially with regard to men and women. Both homosexuality and bisexuality are a way to express love, popular, but still not widely accepted. The last ‘type’ of LOVE that one should give a thought about is the LOVE that is propelled for almost all the reasons other than the emotional aspect of love. This type of love is rampant not just among youngsters but everyone in the present world. Love for a business partnership, money, status symbol, gifts and to top it all, marriage for just dowry are aspects of materialistic love. The emotional and sometimes even the sexual connotations are looked over in such relationships and what matters is everything other than LOVE. Thus, in today's world, to love does not only mean to have a strong attraction or personal affection. It has come a long way from there and it probably means everything other than that. LOVE SO BEAUTIFUL

it seems like a fairytale...

There was a time when Graham Bell was nowhere around and the word “telephone” was not a part of the lexicon. Computers, mobiles, emails, video chatting, sms-ing were never ever heard of. Beautiful scrolls filled with delightful expressions of true love were penned down with the swan quill. There were long memorable walks along the lesser trodden paths of the town, making promises of everlasting unconditional love! The sparkle in one's eyes on the sight of their beloved was brighter than the gleam of a solitaire. The last fragrance that one remembered before one retired for the day was the sweet scent of the adored person whom they hoped to be a part of their dreams. The love was as young as ever, even when the couple aged and became grandparents in the house, the riper the sweeter. If one tries to imagine what has been written here, a classic countryside portrait emerges in one's mind. And one unconsciously tends to

dismiss this picture of such enchanting love thinking it's a thing of the past, and today the world is really different and it would be unrealistic to expect such charming acts of affection in this age. But why!? I think it's not unreasonable to expect it or to do such caring

gestures from one's own side. It's an agreeable fact that the means and modes of communication today have changed, it's faster, aided by all the latest technology but the question I pose here to all the Romeos and Juliets out there is- Have our feelings

changed because we are a technologically advanced society? And is this correlation even justifiable? Going by Oxford's definition of love, which is- “an intense feeling of deep affection”, I say love is not proportional to technology. It's not about being anti technology, nor is it about undermining the vital role technology plays in connecting lovers at different geographical coordinates on the globe, but it is about reviving the beautiful e s s e n c e o f a relationship. When sending a card is a possibility, don't settle for an sms or an email. When spending a beautiful night pouring your heart out under the star laden heavens is an option don't be contented with an online chat. So friends, create a wonderful memory for yourself by committing to a love so beautiful that it may seem like a charismatic romance, as it has been said rightly by someone that “once in a while, right in the middle of an ordinary life, love gives us a fairytale”. 10 AMAZING ROCK SONGS ON LOVE I Don't Wanna Miss a Thing (Aerosmith) Steve Tyler's lyrics come straight from the heart in this and if you're in love, you're sure to love this song the very first time you hear it. It talks of a person so in love with his better half that he doesn't want to sleep just because he wants to hear her breathe and wonders if she's dreaming about him. This song featured in the movie “Armageddon”. Tyler's voice sounds amazing and the immaculate use of keyboards adds depth to this song. November Rain (Guns N' Roses) Apart from the magical guitar solos, Axl Rose's poignant lyrics make it impossible for a Rock lover to not love this song. The song begins with Axl's grand piano and soon the drums and guitar follow. The song is a perfect blend of alternating lyrics and guitar solos. The song talks of how loneliness in love is as hard as

Slash in “November Rain”

holding a candle and walking in the cold November Rain. It increases in tempo and aggression towards the end- a perfect conclusion to a legendary song. Everything I Do (Bryan Adams) The beauty of Bryan Adam's voice and the exquisite usage of words make this song an instant favourite of the so-in-loves. Pen down beautiful lyrics, add to that a couple of guitar solos coupled with a grand piano and sing it in a charming voice and you have an amazing love song at your disposal. This is exactly what Bryan Adams did in this one. Sweet Child O' Mine (Guns N' Roses) This is one song you cannot do without loving. Axl Rose's brilliant lyrics and Slash's searching guitar solos in this song make you bless the moment you started listening to rock. In this one, the girl reminds Axl of his childhood and everything pure and beautiful. Special mention- Izzy Stradlin and Duff McKagan did the song a world of good with a rhythm that couldn't have a been any better. Yellow (Coldplay) If the lyrics of this song do not drive you into a love frenzy, the guitar is sure to. The chords of this song have been struck brilliantly. Chris Martin talks of how he went out of the way and did things in love and wonders how he did them, and even bled himself trying, but still loves her so much. Martin's vocals are soft and soothing as always; a perfect song to listen to on a beautiful “yellow” evening.

I'm Lost Without You (Blink 182) This one's a classic from Blink 182. The song has been written with a heavy heart. It is about separation, where the guy is completely lost without his girl. He swears that he can go on forever again and also tells her that he'll wait patiently for her always. Far Away (Nickelback) This long-distance relationship song by Nickelback puts all the pain of separation in one song and how lovers keep dreaming that one day they'll be together forever and cannot imagine a life without their lover. Lips of an Angel (Hinder) Well, this song is actually about infidelity, but the lyrics are so good that it makes you forget the negative part. The guy is talking to the girl he really loves on the phone while his actual girlfriend is in the next room so he has to whisper. He also asks his lover if her boyfriend knows that she's talking to him. The guitar played on this song is amazing. I'll be There For You (Bon Jovi) This song has really good lyrics, about a guy whose lover is leaving him and all he wants is a second chance where he promises to do everything for the girl. It talks of all the things that love can do but cannot be put into words. Slide (Goo Goo Dolls) This is a feel-good song where the guy asks his lover to “slide between the sheets of all those beds you never knew, why don't you slide into my room”. It's a youthful song and very pleasant to hear. Yours Youthfully -

A PLUS K IS LOVE A look at the most sought-after lover boy Ashton Kutcher’s best love films.

Akshay Singh The first thought the month of February ushers in every heart that has loved or has longed to be loved is that day of the year which is dedicated to love; be it in any form. Valentine's Day for many people is a very special day of the year and for some it may be even the most special day of the year. As it is famously said in Spanish that these months are estaciónes del amor or the seasons of love, affection and compassion. Love is one of the few conundrums which have been solved umpteen numbers of times yet it remains unsolved. Love they say is like air; it's all around you; but it can be just felt; and what a beautiful feeling that is. Love is an extremely subjective emotion; the degree of love may differ from person to person but for the majority of the populace it does exist and how! There is a vast difference in the way the topic of romance and love has been handled by Hollywood and Bollywood. A large chunk of the romantic m ov i e s c h u r n e d o u t i n Bollywood are clichéd, overtly melodramatic, and to an extent unrealistic. Though a

shift can be seen in the genre upon the arrivals of neo directors and scriptwriters however the moot lies in the fact that the Y-Gen can't relate to it. Then there is Hollywood which has given us some epic treatises on love. The most heartening thing is that; things have metamorphosed gradually with the need of times. But that does not mean that you are rendered with chick flicks or popcorn cinema. The soul of their movies has been preserved while still keeping it relevant with the modern day audience. For example: The Graduate; Casablanca, Love Story are as much classics as Punch Drunk Love, In the mood for love, or Solaris. Keeping in tune with our topic; we talk of a certain Ashton Kutcher. Mr. Kutcher has quite an enviable resume apart from being a biochemical engineer; he has dabbled in direction, production, comedy and last but not the least acting. He may not be a class-apart actor, but he does know how to tickle the funny bone and also cause a flutter in many a hearts. We have handpicked

some of Ashton's romantic movies and give you a lowdown on them; so if you haven't watched them yet you should pretty soon. A LOT LIKE LOVE (2005) Just when you despair that a whole generation could grow up without a decent date movie, without a romantic comedy that works well enough to call its own, Ashton Kutcher goes and surprises you. OK, shocks you in A Lot Like Love. The story starts "seven years ago," with recent college graduate Oliver Geary (Kutcher) locking eyes with Emily Friehl (Peet) in Los Angeles International Airport as they are both waiting to board a plane bound for New York. Midway through the flight, Emily barges into the lavatory while Oliver is cleaning a stain off his shirt, and, wordlessly, they join the mile-high club. After landing, they spend the better part of a day together in the Big Apple, then part. The story ambles at its merry pace with many interaction and encounters between the leads and even though it takes years -- seven to be exact -- something could Yours Youthfully -

come from that close encounter at 30,000 feet; A Lot Like Love. This is a clever theft, a charmer with a hint of the bittersweet. It's not the perfect romantic comedy, but when that finally does come, it'll look a lot like A Lot Like Love. Kutcher is decent in the movie with his usual chocolaty and school boy looks adding to the chemistry between Peet and him clearly the highpoint of the movie. VALENTINE'S DAY (2010) Valentine's Day is the perfect movie for a quiet romantic movie date with your loved one. It's a movie with a limited spectrum and purpose. Valentine's Day follows intertwining storylines of love, lust, happiness, anger, hate, jealously and unrequited feelings of love (feelings we can all relate to) among a group of Los Angeles residents (from ages seven to 70) as they navigate their way through romance over the course of one Valentine's Day. It is a sweet film, suitably gooey in the ways of love, with a bunch of celebrities put together. Ashton plays a florist in the movie; who we can pretty

much say is addicted to love. This movie may not have a single star due to the plethora of A-listers present already Ashton Kutcher can be considered as the emcee. He plays cupid as well as the owner of the florist shop and cafĂŠ Sienna Florist. WHAT HAPPENS IN VEGAS (2008) What Happens in Vegas, is one of those movies which has received appalling reviews with the critics tearing in to it. Some may agree with them but I do not. Basically because every movie can't be a romantic cult classic or an Oscar winner, there are some movies which are meant for some light hearted fun. It is one of those movies. I am not saying that it does not have its bad moments, there are flaws but that is about it. It is a watchable and enjoyable flick nevertheless. After being the devil's advocate, the synopsis of the movie. Joy and Jack meet by chance when they are given the same hotel room because of a computer error. After clearing up the misunderstanding and receiving upgraded rooms and coupons to various clubs, they party and drink together and end up getting married. The next morning, they realize it was a mistake and decide to divorce and this is where the

rest of the fun element in the Ashton plays a florist in the movie; who we can pretty movie pans out. Ashton Kutcher is funny, in his own and particular way, like he was before on previous comedies. The pairing of Ashton Kutcher and Cameron Diaz is nice and does light up the screen with the cute fight scenes and the underlying emotions of affection and love. NO STRINGS ATTACHED (2011) No Strings Attached has Ashton Kutcher and Natalie Portman in the lead. It is a romantic comedy about two friends who agree to have no strings attached casual sex w i t h o u t a ffe c t i n g t h e i r friendship. But as is often the case; it does not hold true and ramifications arise; read: they fall in love. Eventually it boils down to being a love story with a happy ending. Ashton Kutcher plays his usual sensitive, cute but naughty puppy dog role. Apart from serving as an eye-candy for the female viewers he does bring fo r t h t h e t e n s i o n , t h e nervousness and the awkwardness which is very much palpable.
