Fertilizer ordinance hits fertile soil

The state’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate edged up from 6.2 to 6.3 percent between the months. Nevertheless, the state hit its 49th consecutive month of positive job growth after a nearly three-year lull. The nation’s unemployment rate in August was 6.1 percent.

The Port St. Lucie Metropolitan Statistical Area includes Martin and St. Lucie counties. While the state saw a slight increase in unemployment, the MSA saw a slight decline. It’s not seasonally adjusted unemployment rate dropped from 8.2 to 8.1 percent from July to August. While St.
Lucie dropped from 8.9 to 8.7 percent, Martin followed the state in climbing slightly: it went from a not seasonally adjusted 6.9 percent unemployment to 7.0. The CareerSource Research
