MARTIN COUNTY — Josh Ferraro read disturbing news that got him in the run for the Martin County School Board District 5 seat. “I decided to run when I learned that 47 percent of children in Martin County are not reading at grade level by the third grade,” he said. “That’s an astonishing figure to me, and it was astounding to people I told who were not aware of it.” The Palm City man believes he knows some things that the district can do to combat the problem. nior vocalists from the Treasure Coast, couldn’t help but bring her back as a featured artist. Less than a month before, on Jan. 30, Sydney’s talent was recognized by the Gold Coast chapter of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS). In the freshmen women’s division, she won 1st place awards in classical music and musical theater. Now she has the oppor-
