PALM CITY — Enough cable to stretch from Palm City to Hallandale Beach. That’s how much is getting put into the Veterans Memorial Bridge. The bridge gives Palm City a second over-the-river connection to Stuart. Most are still calling it the Indian Street Bridge. “This month, we’ve completed three more decks,” George Denti, project manager, said. “We’ve set three more spans of beams. We’ve also completed phase one of post tensioning and grouting.” Bridges are built in parts. The cables joining them are stretched to 500,000 pounds per square inch. “It makes (the bridge) act as one big happy unit,” Denti said. The cables are weaved through beams with ducts. If stretched straight, the cables would be the length of three and a half marathons — 92 miles. That’s 179 tons of steel that’ll hold up an
