TREASURE COAST — With the concept of empowerment at its core, one local haven for survivors of abuse will host a film festival filled with courage, strength and hope later this month. The Inner Truth Project Center, located in St. Lucie West, is poised to host LUNAFEST, a unique festival that highlights women as shepherds in society, portrayed through short films by women filmmakers. Films range from animation to fictional drama and cover topics from women’s health, motherhood and body image to aging, cultural diversity and breaking barriers. The festival, which began

PALM CITY — Martin County Sheriff William Snyder is looking for horse lovers with some green pastures to help out. The Equine Rescue & Adoption Foundation, which fosters large animals for the Sheriff’s Office, is looking for a new paddock. “If this closes, and it faces closing a year from now, the horses won’t have a home,” the Sheriff said at a press conference Monday, May 13. The foundation has its Caring Fields Animal Sanctuary at 6452 Markel St., Palm City. It’s been at the location for eight years. The owner has the property for sale,
