ST. LUCIE COUNTY — In the first of three St. Lucie County Education Foundation community conversations, the talk was for a need to increase community outreach. More business partnerships are needed in the county for students to get real-world experience, St. Lucie Schools Superintendent Genelle Yost said Oct. 21 at the luncheon held at the St. Lucie West branch of Indian River State College. Those partnerships could help get area students to college, and attracting them back to the area to take internships over summer could motivate them to stay in the community post-college, Yost said. “It is our mission as a public school system to make certain that every student graduates from a safe and caring school, equipped with the knowledge to take them either into a career or their collegiate track,” Yost said. “We don’t do this alone. We do this with partnerships in our community. We have to collaborate. The village needs to raise the child.” Some county high schools already have opportunities for students to work with and study at area organizations. Any high

iShine Dance Company dancers have the chance to showcase their talents to the nation. A group of 25 area dancers, ages 2–36, will be taking their talents to Tampa Nov. 2 to audition for the television show “America’s Got Talent.”
Each season, contestants compete in multiple rounds of auditioning for a $1 million prize and a chance to headline a show in Las Vegas. The show’s producers were
