PGA VILLAGE — The airspace between St. Lucie County and Jacksonville was familiar sky to Michael Huber, 60, a family friend said. The PGA Village resident would frequently pilot the 208-mile, hour-long flight to tote his daughter, Tess, 20, to and from the University of North Florida, where she was a student and golfer. Huber and his two daughters, Tess and Abigail, 17, died on Dec. 8 when the family’s twin engine, six-seat 1979 Cessna 310R crashed near Jacksonville Executive at Craig Airport. “That’s how he got Tess back and forth,” said Holly Taylor, director of the PGA Center for Golf Learning and Performance. Taylor said she saw the three at the course the day before
the accident. “The three of them were very close and supported each other and were very proud of each other,” Taylor said. “Abbey would always fill me in with Tess at school and Tess would fill me in about Abbey and how much better her game was getting.” The three were members of the PGA Association since before Taylor began her tenure there five years ago, she said. The golf community has suffered a devastating blow, Taylor said. “I got emotional,” she said. “It’s very upsetting.” Abbey, Lincoln Park Academy’s top golfer, recently played in the South Florida PGA Junior Tour Championship where she won first place in her division. Tess, an LPA graduate, was the No. 1 player at the school during her days

PGA VILLAGE — For the second straight year, the sounds of Christmas carols filled the air in the PGA Village. The 90 singers weren’t professionals, but rather members of the community filled with holiday cheer brimming with excitement to help a good cause. The singing, laughter and charity were all part of the Mustard Seed Ministries Silver Bells Holiday Home Tour, held last week.
Giving community members paid $100 to attend four separate holiday parties in one night at different homes in the PGA Village. At each home, was food galore and live and silent auctions to benefit the nonprofit organization. Two large chartered buses transported the guests from house to house. Last year, the event garnered $20,000 for the cause, program director Stacy Malinowski said. “We needed a special event that
