PORT ST. LUCIE — The young men who risked their own well-being rescuing a 92-yearold man who drove his car into a lake along Bethany Avenue in St. Lucie West in December, were honored at City Hall Jan. 26. car window and free him. Despite their heroic efforts, which gained national attention, Mancuso died two days later at Tradition Medical Center. Both were modest at the Council meeting. “I really didn’t want to be recognized for this. I just feel like this is something anybody should do when someone is in a time of need, like Mr. Mancuso was,” Brieske said. He thanked his parents for their influence. “The the way I was raised is a big part of what I do and why I did what I did.”

That state is back to jobs numbers last seen in April of 2008, shortly before a sharp rise in unemployment that didn’t stop for two years and peaked at 11.4 percent in the first quarter of 2010.
