ST. LUCIE WEST — As the area rapidly progresses toward becoming the Research Coast of Florida, students interested in high-paying science, technology, engineering and mathematics jobs now have a new hub at Indian River State College for learning and training through the school’s most recent campus addition in St. Lucie West. Opened this month, the school’s 56,000-square-foot, $18.5 million William and Helen Thomas Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics center, also known as the STEM center, promises big economic returns and builds upon the college’s 20 year old plan to further the

When it Comes to Your Hearing Don’t Waste your Time Chasing Deals that Don’t Exist
You Can Experience the Mutter Difference Florida State Licensed Hearing Aid Specialist Joe Mutter, owner of Mutter’s Hearing Center states, “Our typical patient is a current client referral, or someone who bought a hearing aid elsewhere and that product did not fit their needs, or someone who has had a negative customer service experience elsewhere with an inexperienced or unskilled hearing aid provider. “People simply come here hoping to improve their quality of life by improving their hearing.” In many instances patients that need hearing aids have chased those nonexistent newspaper deals or specials and bought lower technology hearing aids. This gives them a negative first experience and they simply give up on hearing aids. The provider they chose at the time quite easily put was more interested in their checkbooks than the quality of their hearing. They did not explain fully the benefits of quality hearing aids; they went for the quick sale because they saw the patient expressed concerns about the cost of quality aids.
American Owned and Operated Founded in 1967, Starkey products have revolutionized the hearing aid industry and allowed hearing professionals to offer the highest quality products to patients. Starkey is the only American-owned and operated hearing aid company. Starkey is an industry leader with over 400 scientists and engineers dedicated to the advancement of hearing aid and hearing loss technologies. There are two main obstacles keeping people from getting their hearing loss taken care of one is the price of quality hearing aids and the second is stigmas associated with hearing aid use. There are a number of ways to finance hearing instruments. We can work with folks to get them into quality hearing aids. As far as quality product goes, we fit clients with superior hearing aids that fit their lifestyles and their financial concerns. We’ve eliminated the obstacles to better hearing.” Mr. Mutter reminds those looking for hearing aids not to sell themselves short on quality for the fear of investment “We know that people can shop price, but they cannot shop quality of care or the experience your hearing care provider has,” says Mr. Mutter. “The people that come into our office quickly learn that service and quality of care are exceptionally important here at Mutter’s Hearing Center.”

Do You Need a No-Cost Hearing Evaluation? “It was a great experience” I was comfortable from the moment I walked in. Joe was pleasant to speak with and he wanted to hear my store. He didn’t rush me, and it was really important to him that he understand my cocerns and learned more about how I was dealing with my hearing loss. He is a professional, great about explaining my hearing loss to me and how the hearing aids work. I felt completely comfortable with Joe and in the exceptional quality of the product he carries. their hearing. “People who chase the deals they see advertised out there for ‘blowout sales’ or Hearing Aids starting at $895.00 and the like…are fooling themselves, those deals simply do not exist,” Mr. Mutter explains. “I don’t want to be a drive-thru-style office. I want patients to leave here with a thorough understanding of the product they are buying and how it will help them to hear better because when you suffer from loss of hearing, it diminishes your quality of life and isolates you. I want to enhance quality of life.
Dont Wait - Every Day Matters Mr. Mutter emphasizes that patients should not always look for the lowest cost hearing aid on the market. He says fit and performance are the two most important factors. Hearing aids are designed to help clarify muffled, distorted sound and allow you to hear through noise. Quality hearing aids will help with that. You have to remember that this is an important investment in

This clinical evaluation will determine if your hearing and understanding of human speech can be corrected with hearing aids. You may have hearing loss if: • People say you are shouting when you talk to them • You need the TV or radio turned up louder than other people do • You often ask people to repeat themselves because you can’t hear or understand them, especially in groups or when there is noise • You can hear better out of one ear than the other • You have to strain to hear • If things just sound unclear and not as bright as they used to its time to get tested.

Restaurateur becomes Realtor By Shelley Koppel Staff writer ST. LUCIE WEST — In the early 1990s, Theresa Collura and her family were driving to Florida from Brooklyn. “My mom’s friend told us that since we were driving down I-95, we’d be passing an exit for Port St. Lucie,” Collura said. “She told us it was new. Port St. Lucie Boulevard was model home row. The housing market is so high up there, and we bought our first lot (here) in 1992. By 1994, it was home. We sold the house in Brooklyn and said that this was where we wanted to be.” Collura, the single mother of three daughters, knew this was a good place for family. “I knew Port St. Lucie had a lot to offer and was where I wanted to raise my girls,” she said. “I just knew this town was going to be something substantial. We’ve grown in leaps and bounds.” Collura was in the restaurant business for many years, first owning Sottini’s Sub Shop, then the Country Store Sub Shop and finally Domenick’s Corner Grill on Orange Ave in Fort Pierce. She got out of the restaurant

business recently and, in June, began work at Lawnwood Regional Medical Center as billing coordinator. She has also done substitute teaching at John Carroll High School, where her youngest daughter, Nikki, is a sophomore. “I worked on Wall Street for 12 years out of high school,” she said. “I have plenty of office skills. I welcome a change after 17 years in the restaurant business. It’s a lot of responsibility and I’m happy to be out of it. It’s refreshing to start over.” Now, Collura has taken on a new challenge. She lives in Lake Forest in St. Lucie West and she recently became a Realtor with Coldwell Banker Thomas J. White Realty. She hopes to specialize in properties in PGA and St. Lucie West. “It’s such an inviting area,” she said. “There’s so much easy access to everywhere with I-95 and the Turnpike. There are wonderful family neighborhoods. The public schools are wonderful and Centennial High School has a fabulous reputation. My main mission is that I definitely love

FLU from page 1 St. Lucie County are encouraged to stay home from work or school until the illness subsides. Health Department officials said there are other preventative measures people can take, including vaccination. “If you do get sick and think you have the flu, stay home until you are at least 24 hours fever-free,” St. Lucie County Health Department spokeswoman Arlease Hall said. “There are antiviral medications that can help if started early, so see your health care provider, especially if you are at risk for complications of influenza.” “Get your flu shot. It’s not too late,” she said. The vaccine takes roughly two weeks to build up immunity, so residents shouldn’t wait to get a shot. Anyone over the age of 6 months can receive one. Local pharmacies across the county offer the shot to adults, but children must receive the vaccine from a pediatrician, she said. Flu symptoms may include a 100-degree or higher fever or feeling feverish, cough, sore throat, runny nose and chills, Hall said. Other ways to remain vigilant against the illness is cleanliness and practicing healthy habits including good nutrition to strengthen the immune system. Hall said keeping hands clean is vital. “Wash hands thoroughly for 20 seconds with soap and water before touching food or the face,” Hall said. “Use alcohol-based hand sanitizer if you don’t have access to soap and water.” According to the latest statistics released Jan. 16 by the Florida Department of Health, St. Lucie County’s influenza like illnesses have been fluctuating and are higher than the same time last year, mirroring overall state activ-
ity. The rise in numbers, however, is not uncommon for this time of year during the flu season, Hall said. In the first week of the year, Indian River, St. Lucie and Martin counties all reported “mild” flu activity, according to the Florida Department of Health. As of Jan. 16, all three counties have seen a surge in reported cases and are reporting “moderate” activity. Overall, flu activity across the state has been widespread, officials said. According to the Centers for Disease Control, influenza activity is increasing nationwide and is most elevated in the eastern half of the country where it has reached an epidemic status in some areas. To stay healthy this influenza season, follow these guidelines: • Everyone 6 months of age and older should get vaccinated against the flu. • Wash your hands often with soap and water. If soap and water is not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer • Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. Throw the tissue in the trash after you use it • Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth. Germs are often spread when a person touches something that is contaminated with germs and then touches his or her eyes, nose or mouth • Avoid sharing eating utensils, drinking glasses, towels or other personal items • Avoid close contact with people who are sick • Boost your natural immunity by getting enough rest, eating properly and drinking lots of fluids • Stay home when you are sick and check with your health care provider Source: Florida Department of Health

Health information for the spine By Nicole Rodriguez Staff writer PORT ST. LUCIE — According to one local orthopedic surgeon, maintaining healthy bones is a key component in living a healthy and pain-free life. Dr. Don Moore with Florida Orthopedic Specialists in Port St. Lucie, held a spine seminar earlier this month at Harbor Place Senior Living in Port St. Lucie to emphasize the importance of bone health. Moore, who’s been a spine surgeon on the Treasure Coast for the past 15 years, divulged tips to reduce risk for bone conditions and explained treatment paths for back and joint pain. The University of Wisconsin medical school graduate said staying healthy with core strengthening exercises is key in avoiding back pain. “Weight control is important too,” Moore said. Moore said it’s time to seek medical care if back pain is severe and persists for an extended period of time. “Typically it’s more than a week for an older person. I’d say more than a month for a younger person.” “It all depends on the level of
pain – some people may have a herniated disc overnight – it does happen,” Moore said. “If you don’t have any pain down the legs or down the arm, it’s relatively safe.” Moore said staying health-conscious is important in maintaining a high quality of life. “I’m trying to promote awareness. Patients have the right to know what is wrong with them,” Moore said. “They should be cognizant about what they must know to manage their own health.” Moore said there are ways to slow the progression of osteoporosis, the most common type of bone disease in which bones become fragile and more likely to fracture. Usually the bone loses density, which measures the amount of calcium and minerals in the bone. Moore added post-menopausal women over the age of 50 who smoke and drink alcohol have the greatest chance of developing the condition. Moore added smoking and drinking alcohol is detrimental to bone health and thins the bones. “There are a lot of new medicines on board, but mainly the most important thing is weight-bearing exercises for women,” Moore said. Moore said surgery for severe

PIPE from page 1 more efficiently, board members said. Out of six local contractors vying for the job, R.K. Contractors of Fort Pierce, who has done work for the district before, had the lowest bid at $199,310, staffers said. “This is less than what we anticipated, which is good for us,” Bob Lawson, district engineer, said. “It will allow more water from the internal lake system down a canal to the south where the control structure discharges water off site to the city,” he said. Lawson said engineers recently discovered a flaw in the pipe, which led to the needed improvements. The pipe is located in an internal lake system in Lake Charles and extends south along Heatherwood Boulevard to a lake at the Southwest corner of Heatherwood Boulevard and Southwest California Boulevard. “The goal of the project is to re-

We have to ‘up size’ the pipe to give it the water the model says it can have.” “It will allow more water from the internal lake system down a canal to the south where the control structure discharges water off site to the city,” he said. Lawson estimates minimal traffic disruptions after the project’s start in the next two to four weeks. “The California gate into Lake Charles may have a blockage for a very short period of time,” Lawson said. “We’ll be working closely with the Homeowners Association about them rerouting traffic for a day to go out the alternate entrance.” Lawson stressed the timeline isn’t set in stone, but is expecting construction to last three to four weeks. “It all depends on when we can get the contracts signed.”
“Also try anti-inflammatory medicine like ibuprofen and Celebrex,” Moore said. “Try pain management. Some cortisone injections in the spine might be helpful.” “I don’t have a problem with

Indian River State College students at the STEM Center building in St. Lucie West Naimah Alamini and Olben St. Fleur examine cell structure of plants during a class last week

STEM from page 1 science and technology industry locally, school administrators said. “The STEM center is preparing students for careers in biotechnology and life sciences,” said Casey Lunceford, dean of Arts and Sciences, referring to high-wage positions at research facilities like The Vaccine and Gene Therapy Institute and Torrey Pines Insti-
tute in Tradition. “This allows us to get this generation transitioned to the Research Coast.” The facility is a first for students who attend classes in southern St. Lucie County, officials said. It joins the Brown Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship and the Kight Center for Emerging Technologies, both located in Fort Pierce. The three-story building and its stunning architecture already
hosts students striving to earn their Bachelor of Science degree in biology. Indian River State College is the only state college in Florida where students can earn the degree, Lunceford said. The program launched in January 2011 with six students and has grown to 340, he said. General math classes will also be held in several of the 12 classrooms the building also contains. The facility boasts seven laboratories, including an ecology and DNA lab which has a state-of-theart genomic stimulator that reads and translates DNA, provost of the St. Lucie West campus, Dr. Harvey Arnold said. A centerpiece of the building is its spiral staircase, constructed to resemble a strand of DNA. Many of the lab-
oratories physically open up to a back patio, where students have instant access to the environment. Students studying ecology can take advantage of a 35-footlong wave simulation tank to study fluid mechanics and flow behavior, Arnold said. Arnold said the laboratories were designed with real life in mind and jobs in high-technology, specialized fields are growing. “STEM-related jobs are higher paying jobs because that skill set is in high demand,” Arnold said. “We want to make sure our students have the opportunity to develop in that area.” An official ribbon cutting ceremony is scheduled for Feb. 26, 20 years to the day when the college opened its first science building on the main campus, both said.

GARDEN from page 3 potted succulents, a flower that needs little to no water and has an extremely long vase life. Succulents are frosty green and can be found wired into bouquets, used as boutonnieres or arranged into centerpieces. The club, established 21 years ago, has been headed by Port St. Lucie resident Uta McFadden, 70, for the past three years. Since her presidency, the club has helped transform a portion of the Port St. Lucie Botanical Gardens from brush into a lush area filled with a variety of pineapple-related bromeliad flowers. Bromeliads are members of the plant family bromeliaceae, which includes 3,170 species native mainly to the tropical Americas. Many bromeliads are able to store water in a structure formed by their tightly-overlapping leaf bases and thrive in the heat, McFadden said. The club also worked to landscape a local soup kitchen, and for the past two years members have been working to create a butterfly garden at the Oxbow EcoCenter for children who are homeschooled, McFadden said. The garden club members and the 15-member group of children whose ages range from 5 to 12 meet once a month at the environmental learning center located on a 225-acre preserve on the North Fork of the St. Lucie River
in Port St. Lucie. The 900-squarefoot garden contains plants all natural to the area, including milkweed, McFadden said. McFadden said she hopes students find peace in the garden while learning about nature firsthand. McFadden recalls developing a love and appreciation for vegetation as a young girl in Germany, where she was born. She hopes the same adoration will blossom in everyone the St. Lucie West Garden Club touches. “I talk to my flowers when they’re opening,” said McFadden, whose Port St. Lucie home is adorned with 14 species of bougainvillea, a variety of orchids and several different succulents. “I tell them how beautiful they are,” McFadden said. For more information about the St. Lucie West Garden Club, call Uta McFadden at (772) 871-0830. The Garden Club meets every fourth Thursday at 9 a.m. at the PGA Country Club at the Country Club Estates. Yearly membership fee is $35. Membership is open to all St. Lucie County residents. The club’s “Fashion Show Extravaganza” luncheon and fashion show, featuring fashion from Stein Mart in St. Lucie West, is Feb. 7 at the PGA Country Club. Noon. Tickets are $35. Plants and gardening tools will be available for purchase. To purchase tickets, call (772) 871-0830.

Sheriff warns of telephone scam ST. LUCIE COUNTY — St. Lucie County Sheriff Ken Mascara is warning area residents to be cautious about a new telephone scam. Mascara said if residents receive a phone call from someone claiming to be a Microsoft security technician asking to download a computer security “fix”, simply don’t do it, hang up and call 9-11. “This is just another scam to get an unsuspecting person to make his or her computer vulnerable to attack,” Mascara said. “We have heard that people in our area have been receiving such telephone calls.” So far the Sheriff’s Office has received two complaints from callers who didn’t fall for the scam. Officials believe if a program is downloaded, it could allow someone to gain control of the computer and sensitive information in it, including bank account and credit card information which could result in identity theft, Mascara said. According to Microsoft’s website, fake representatives may be offering to help solve computer problems or trying to sell a software license. Once cybercriminals have access to a computer, they can trick individuals into installing malicious software which steals data, including usernames and passwords, take remote control of the computer to adjust settings and request credit card information to bill for the phony services, according to Microsoft.com.
... a Sweet Surprise
“Cybercriminals often use publicly available phone directories so they might know your name and other personal information when they call you. They might even guess what operating system you’re using,” the website states. “Once they’ve gained your trust, they might ask for your user name and password or ask you to go to a website to install software that will let them access your computer to fix it. Once you do this, your computer and your personal information is vulnerable.” To avoid falling victim to a phone scam, Microsoft urges computer users to ignore unsolicited calls and never provide any personal information. How to protect yourself from telephone tech support scams If someone claiming to be from Microsoft tech support calls you: • Do not purchase any software or services. • Ask if there is a fee or subscription associated with the “service.” If there is, hang up. • Never give control of your computer to a third party unless you can confirm that it is a legitimate representative of a computer support team with whom you are already a customer. • Take the caller’s information down and immediately report it to your local authorities. • Never provide your credit card or financial information to someone claiming to be from Microsoft tech support. Lynn University shares topsecret debate advice By Nicole Rodriguez Staff writer ST. LUCIE WEST — Professionals who painstakingly planned last year’s presidential debate at Lynn University in Boca Raton divulged tips to local public relations professionals seeking advice on how to handle such a largescale event. During a special St. Lucie West meeting of the Treasure Coast Chapter of the Florida Public Relations Association at the Children’s Services Council of St. Lucie County, Lynn public relations specialists Laura Stephens and Josh Glanzer revealed what it was like to coordinate the event, which attracted more than 3,500 media representatives alone. Stephens was charged with heading a team of 476 volunteers. “We got hundreds of emails a day. Every five seconds was a new call saying ‘I want to interview this person. We want to tell this angle of the story, how could you help us? We want this shot. We need to capture these images,’” said Stephens, who added the volume of emails and calls was “overwhelming.” In hindsight, the pair said they would have routed the mass messages differently. “The No. 1 thing we would have done differently is set up a single email for the media team,” Stephens said. She added media outlets were given several representatives’ electronic addresses and phone numbers in media kits and press releases, which overcomplicated the organization
process. “It would have been managed more efficiently and more effectively. We did find a solution after the fact by routing our emails.” Glanzer revealed despite the communication snag, the night went off without a hitch. “Considering the magnitude and number of people involved, I’d say it went extremely well,” Glanzer said. “It was extremely exciting. It’s like going to the Olympics. It’s the Super Bowl of politics, really.” “We were really honored that we were able to bring such a big event to the community and to bring national attention to the state, being Florida is such an important state to the election process,” he said. “It helped our local community in terms of business.” Organizers also transformed the event into an educational experience for the more than 2,200 students who attend class on the relatively small 123-acre campus. “We had more than 80 debate-related classes that infused aspects of the election cycle and the debates into the curriculum,” Glanzer said. “We had watched parties for the preceding debates, where students watched and even judged and scored the candidates.” Michelle Abaldo, director of Institutional Advancement at Indian River State College, said she hoped to learn from Lynn’s experience. “I’m definitely hoping to get some tips and first-hand feedback on

If you buy now, you’ll make money later on your investment.” Collura sells single-family homes, townhouses and condos. “A lot of first-time buyers and young couples are more comfortable in a townhome or condo,”

Mock hoped local professionals left the meeting inspired to take on national events with confidence. “The debate was a huge fullscale event and it was taken on by a relatively small organization. We have a lot of nonprofits here locally that typically do the same thing. Actress Colleen O’Neill will portray the nun in performances on Feb. 1-3. ence and Sister will nail them. There are cell phones ringing, too much cleavage, chewing gum and talking. Some shows can be 80 percent improvisation, but you still have to get in the script.” O’Neill, who is 63, has been acting since she was in the third grade, when she debuted as Davy Crockett. “I did a lot of New York performing and then a friend of mine who does commercials got called for an audition for the original ‘Late Nite Catechism.’ She wasn’t interested in one-person comedy, but she gave my name to her agent. I auditioned, got called and was asked ‘How soon can you start rehearsal?’” She’s been touring as Sister

FORT PIERCE – Sister is back, but she has a new star and a new play. “Late Nite Catechism II: Sister Strikes Again,” is a continuation of the popular series. It comes to the Black Box Theatre at the Sunrise Theatre on Feb. 1-3, with Colleen O’Neill as Sister. She spoke recently from her home in New York about the character she has played for almost 13 years in six different shows. “’Late Nite Catechism’ is basically teaching an adult Catholic catechism,” she said. “The set looks like a classroom from the early 1960s or 1970s. Part of what’s so funny is that so many hearken back to those times but you don’t have to be Catholic.” This show, the second in the series, the subject is the sacrament of penance. O’Neill said that the play has a lot of audience participation. “What’s great about it is that many people assume the actress is a real nun,” she said. “I studied with the Holy Cross nuns for 12 years, through grade school and high school. I know the drill and there is a drill.” O’Neill noted that each of the performers who takes on the role of Sister brings her own personality and quirkiness to the role. “Each of the actresses is totally different,” she said. “There is a core to the script, but since it’s interactive, there’s a lot of throwing the ball between the audience and Sister. That keeps it fresh. From the moment Sister walks out, improv can happen. There can be any number of infractions being committed by the audi-

ever since. O’Neill stressed that while she and the audience have fun, it is respectful fun. “They might assume it’s blue or we make fun of nuns,” she said. “We do not cross the line and are not disrespectful. The playwright, Maripat Donovan, likes us to play (to raise) money for retired nuns. There is a serious need for many of the older nuns and Maripat says that all of the Sisters have raised at least $3 million for several different orders.” O’Neill said that both men and women enjoy the show. “The men act up more,” she said. “They get right into it and turn into 9-year-olds. It’s fun to see an audience of adults revert to 8 or 9 and they do when they see a nun in full habit. We get a lot of Boomers because they immediately identify with the nun. We get a lot of children of Boomers who’ve heard the stories. I see people in their 20s on a date night. We pick on them, too.”
“What’s great about it is that many people assume the actress is a real nun. I studied with the Holy Cross nuns for 12 years, through grade school and high school. I know the drill and there is a drill.” Colleen O’Neill actress “Late Nite Catechism II: Sister Strikes Again,” come to the Black Box Theatre at the Sunrise Theatre, 117 S. Second St., Fort Pierce, on Feb. 1-3. Performances are Feb. 1 at 8 p.m., Feb. 2 at 3 and 8 p.m. and Feb. 3 at 3 and 7 p.m. Tickets for all shows are $35. Tin Fish: Fresh catch for Tradition By Nicole Rodriguez Staff writer TRADITION — Nestled in the heart of Tradition, roughly 15 miles from the sea, Tin Fish serves a fresh catch at a reasonable price. Every seafood plate served at the tavern-style restaurant is caught within 48 hours, owner Roberta Hepburn said. The restaurant puts a literal spin on the slogan “fresh, never frozen.”
“Everything is made in house. There’s no freezer and no walk-in,” said Hepburn, who owns other Tin Fish locations in California, Indiana and Minnesota. “That means every day, (seafood) is delivered.” Hepburn’s menu is so well-priced and tasty, it was featured on an episode of Rachel Ray’s Food Network show “$40 a Day,” where

the food guru takes a one-day trip with only $40 to spend on quality food. For starters, guests can snack on chips and salsa for $3.95. The soft, doughy chips and hearty salsa are far from the average shelfbought party staple. A cup of the restaurant’s $3.95 New England Clam Chowder, prepared fresh onsite boasts a classic chowder taste with a rich and creamy consistency. And Hepburn’s homemade shrimp soup has just the right combination of shrimp, corn, spices and secrets. “The ingredients are a secret,” Hepburn, a Tradition resident, said. “It’s made with love.” A great dinner-sized appetizer is Tin Fish’s Kaboom Shrimp, which is lightly coated in flour and fried for 20 seconds. For $8.95, diners receive a beautiful presentation tossed in a sweet Thai chili sauce. A highly recommended entree is the Tin Fish Combo which comes with four pieces of fish, three shrimp, two scallops and eight calamari. The fried dish, priced at $14.95, is served with any choice of fish. Server Richard Mozzott said even the frying oil is kept fresh. “We fry everything using canola oil,” Mozzott said. “We change the oil at least twice a day and we fry the chicken, fish and fries in different fryers for people with allergies.”
Mitch Kloorfain/chief photographer The Spicy Kaboom Shrimp are a popular signature appetizer for Tin Fish in Tradition. Using separate fryers for fish and chicken also helps preserve the taste of each dish, Mozzott added. One of the restaurant’s best-sellers is tacos offered in a variety of forms, served on a warm flour tortilla with shredded cabbage, cheddar cheese, fresh salsa, white sauce and hot sauce for a kick. The restaurant offers locally caught Mahi-Mahi, Alaskan salmon, New Bedford scallops, cod, tilapia, lobster, shrimp and chicken. The tacos, which can be prepared blackened, grilled or fried is especially good with fried cod, a favorite of Mozzott. “It gives you a little bit of texture,” Mozzott said of the breaded and fried option. An important element is the restaurant’s oceanside-like ambience and exceptional staff of
servers, chefs and sous chefs. Presidential candidate Mitt Romney even stopped in on the campaign trail and praised the service. Hepburn said Fort Pierce and Melbourne can soon expect the same service by the end of the summer, when she expands. “Everyone has a passion back there,” Hepburn said of her staff, which functions both like a family and a well-oiled machine. “We’re all here six days a week and we take care of each other.” For more information, visit www. thetinfish.net or call (772) 3451234. Tin Fish is located in Tradition Square at 10511 S.W. Village Center Drive. Hours: Tuesday-Thursday 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday and Saturday 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 8 p.m. Closed on Monday.
