TRADITION — The 2015 NL Champion New York Mets took the field in Tradition Friday to begin the 2016 Grapefruit League season, and are gearing up for what many of them are saying is going to be a well-expected year for the New York blue, orange and white boys of summer. A new face in camp this year is former Pittsburgh Pirate and current second baseman, Neil Walker. Walker, who was traded to the Mets in December of 2015, signed a one-year deal in January. He told reporters this week he’s really excited to get in the clubhouse, meet the staff and meet the players. “To get in here and settle in is really kind of exciting,” Walker said. “The top thing on my list of why I’m excited to be a Met is to not have to face this pitching staff, even though it only would have been a couple times during the year. We know what we’re capable of and I’m really happy to

ST. LUCIE COUNTY — Imagine looking at the night sky lit up with stars shining so bright you couldn’t help but smile. On Saturday, Feb. 20, live from Lincoln Park Academy, St. Lucie County Public Schools (SLPS) and the Education Foundation
of St. Lucie County rolled out the red carpet to celebrate local superstars in education. Colors were presented by St. Lucie West Centennial High School Navy JROTC and Sabre Honor Guard. Dancing with the Stars has nothing compared to the performances from students of SLPS, to further exemplify the night as a celebration of stars.
