PORT ST. LUCIE – Mike Sancho, new chief executive officer of the Boys & Girls Clubs of St. Lucie County, has spent more than 25 years helping young people. Sancho, who learned to play tennis while growing up in upstate New York, began his career as a director of the Ashe/Bollettieri Cities’ Tennis Program. The organization was founded by tennis great Arthur Ashe and
famed tennis instructor Nick Bollettieri to bring the sport to inner city kids. “The mayor of Newark (New Jersey) asked us to Mike Sancho send a group of tennis pros to Newark and said they would fund the project,” Sancho said. “We came to Newark and it was

TRADITION — It seems that a months-long reign of terror over the Townpark at Tradition community by wild hogs has been abolished. Feral, or wild hogs, weighing in at more than 300 pounds, wreaked havoc on residential properties since January, but ceased abruptly in June after news reports by Your Voice News & Views and other media outlets surfaced exposing the reoccurring problem, resident George Rudolph said. Residents believed sounders of wild hogs were originating from an undeveloped parcel of land just beyond their backyards and demanded the large tract be enclosed. After months of complaining, Rudolph is glad The Minto Group, the subdivision’s developer, acted swiftly to mend the issue. “Since then, Minto has been working on a fence. It’s a galvanized metal fence with wooden posts,” said the Crestwood Circle resident. Rudolph said he was told steel reinforcements a foot underground should keep the hogs from digging free. Rudolph said he expects the last tract of the fence to be erected once flooding from recent rain storms drains.
