TREASURE COAST — By this time next year, the primary for the 18th Congressional District will be done and the general election in full cry. One name Republican voters won’t see on their primary ballots is Tod Mowery. ST. LUCIE COUNTY — Taxpayers will ante up a bit more next year for property taxes. At its final budget hearing, the County Commission adopted a rate of $8.66 for every $1,000 of accessed, nonexempt value for the fiscal year that begins in October. That’s a little more than 3.4 percent more than this year, not including an average of 4.6 percent rise in property values.
