America’s Greatest Generation From classic films to swing dance lessons, this season’s programs are inspired by the lives and times of what’s often been called the “Greatest Generation.”

Our Lives, Our Stories: America’s Greatest Generation YDL-Whittaker, April 6–May 25 YDL is proud to host a national touring exhibit this spring that explores the life arc of America’s Greatest Generation, told in their own words. Born in the 1910s and ‘20s, this generation was shaped by their experiences during the Great Depression and World War II, creating both the Baby Boom and the postwar economic surge.

Ann Arbor/Ypsi Reads All locations, January–February 2014 This year’s selection, Between Shades of Gray by Ruta Sepetys, follows a 15-yearold Lithuanian girl and her family through the Soviet invasion and the Gulag. Read it in advance of the author’s visit on Tuesday, January 21 at WCC’s Towsley Auditorium.
