Accompanying each photograph are interview excerpts documenting the dancers’ candid reflections on life, work and passion. The exhibit gives a rare glimpse of the inner workings of artists such as Mikhail Baryshnikov, Jacques d’Amboise, Jose´ Greco, Bill T. Jones, Ann Reinking, Chita Rivera, Russ Tamblyn, Tommy Tune, and dozens of other choreographers and dancers.

Be one of the first 100 to pick up a free copy of the book (purchased by a grant from The Friends of YDL) and join in the discussion. Each year a theme is selected and a book is chosen for the community to read and discuss. The theme for 2008 is “China and America: Bridging Two Worlds,” and the book is The Eighth Promise: An American Son’s Tribute to his Toisanese Mother by William Poy Lee. The author and his mother will speak at Washtenaw Community College on Friday, January 25, at 7:30 pm. Everyone is invited to attend this free event.
An Evening with Anchee Min Bestselling memoirist and novelist Anchee Min shares her compelling story on Thursday, February 21 at 7 pm in the Student Center at Eastern Michigan University. Min’s memoir, Red Azalea, was a finalist for the Community Reads title for 2008.
