Traveling with Kids “Are we there yet?” Those familiar words can drive parents into a serious case of travel fatigue. Once the kids have tired of their store-bought games, try a few of these interactive diversions: •ALPHABET GAMES Look out the window for stores, road signs, etc. that start with the letter “A.”
Move on to “B” and go through the alphabet. You can also play this game by listing cities, animals, food — the choices are endless.
•SCAVENGER HUNT Give kids a list of things to look for during the drive. The lists can be modified for the type of scenery and the age of children. •TWENTY QUESTIONS Think of a person, place or object. Kids take turns asking yes/no questions (up to 20) until someone is able to guess what the secret is. •WORD GAMES Parents think of a word and kids give the opposite. Words with the same meaning can be substituted.
