Week 7 Studio Journal This week’s studio is an off-campus one to construction sites. Site visit #1:
This is the construction building drawing. This building has dual level basement and so far they have completed the pilling. It is 600 meters long and 12 meters in depth with timber flooring. It also has double load corridor.
The black strip takes ground water down and the rocks are easily breakable rocks.
The site is located next to a residential area of apartments, it’s going to adapt to the same style of building construction as its neighbours. Site visit #2:
This site is going to build an aged care centre, which can provide a home for many elderlies. The manager at the site also has an idea of having some indication lights in the centre so when the elderlies get off their bed to toilets in the night, lights will indicate their way in case if some elderlies with dementia forgets what they are going to do. The fire alarm system in the building is also well designed.
The building is still at construction but the primary and secondary structures are mostly completed.
This area is going to have elevators in the future which now is a very dangerous zone.
This is a sample room in the age care centre; it has a curtain around the bed, which leaves the elderly with quietness and some privacy.
The shower room is very convenient for the elderlies to bath because it does not have any steps so the wheelchair is free to enter and also, the area is very open and easy to get accessed to. The facilities are also very high technologized which is a great living environment for the elderlies.
TV access is also available for the elderlies to have some entertainment; they can have the leisure time on bed, which is right opposite to the TV.
This is going to be a way to car park when the construction finishes.
The top of the building is still under construction.
