Week 8 Studio Journal Picture of the section:

The four section details were distributed evenly among the four group members. The sections were chosen randomly and my part is section detail 12. The main components of this section consists of a sarking, precast concrete pavers, weep holes, flashing, flat plate steel, sealant, sill brick, flush plasterboard ceiling, aluminium window sill and tiled wall finish over cement sheet lining. The strength of concrete depends on its grade, or the ratio of cement to sand or gravel when mixed with water. In Ormand college, the use of concrete in different areas are depending on how much live loads required for that area. (Li et al, 2013). However, because concrete is relatively week in tension, there are reinforcement of steel bars, strands and wires is required to absorb tensile, shearing and sometimes the compressive stresses in a concrete member or structure. (Ching, 2013) In this section, the concrete pavers are 40 with broken face. Aluminium is one of the most sustainable building materials in the world and is also highly recyclable. It is also easy to handle which reduces the environmental impact. It is formable and can be bent or shaped into innumerable designs and the life span of aluminium products is measured in decades rather than years so it is a very good choice to have aluminium window sill in the building. By studying the drawing, we found that this section is located at ground level and is next to a bathroom, which should be straight away seen by walking a straight way from the entrance of the front foyer. However, accords to the actual building, group

members went and tried to take photos of each section but we could not find them and the staff also did not know where these places locate.
