WEEK 9 READING: PERSPECTIVE AS AYMBOLIC FORM

Question 1: What are Durer’s rules for perspectival projection? (Maximum 100 words) Durer’s rules for perspective follows a systematic procedure. The first one is the perspendicular lines must meet at a vanashing point which the need to parallel lines must sharing a common vanashing point. Therefore, using the horizontal plane, a vanishing point can be marked as using the length between the vanashing piont and the the central vanshing point.

Question 2: Describe homogenous space? (Maximum 100 words)

Homogenous space means that at any point in a space, it is possible to have a similar figures in every direaction and the magnitude. Within perspective drawing objects lose their similarity and instead become expressions of their relationship to the picture.

QUAD PERSPECTIVE 1 + 2 From the first perspective, the desert and the city can be seen in the background. Also, the first perspective shows the charactors in the given story.

From the second perspective, another part of the story can be seen, which is the sea. Different from the desert scene, this perspective was taken from a completely different direction.

PERSPECTIVE SCENE 1 + 2

In the story, a desert was described, therefore, it is sutiable to place a desert with tall buildings in the background. Secondly, camel was used as a tool to reach this invisiable city. Lastly, the scene that a group of ladies were dancing can also be found in the story.

Firstly, ship is the alternative way to reach this city. Secondly, instead of showing directly that a group of salior were drinking and hitting others with bottles, a bar was set to leave the rest of the story to people’s inmagination.

WEEK 4 READING: MAPPING THE UNMAPPABLE

Question 1: IWhat is the difference between autographic and allographic practice? (Maximum 100 words)

Allographc is a form of art like painting and sculptures, they depend on their authenticty upon the direce contact of the author. This is different in music, poetry and theatre as they can be produced without the direct intervention of the author. Allographic are different, it is art that are capable if being reproduced at a distance from the author by means of notion. It operates through interpreatation and on the basis convention. The use of notation is a defining aspect of allographic arts.

Question 2: Why do architects need new representational techniques? (Maximum 100 words) architecture is constantly evolving and as a result so must the architect. Technologies increase and with its new ways of representing the world arises, in order to confront, this architects must adapt. If architecture is to work beyond the level of image it needs to invent new tools to work more efficiently within the immaterial networks and systems that comprise the city in the late 20th century. In order to sustain its own relevance, architecture needs to adress the social and political implications of the shifts from artfacts to effort.
