THE STARS WHO ARE STANDING UP TO CANCER FOR BEING REBELS WITH A CAUSE For this year’s Stand Up To Cancer campaign for Cancer Research UK, a pile of luscious celebs have dressed up as their rebel hero. That includes Scarlett Moffatt as Katniss from Hunger Games, Davina McCall as Joan of Arc, and Alan Carr as iconic actor Marlon Brando. And. They. Look. Amazing. Scarlett told heat her choice was all

about girl power, saying, “Katniss is my favourite female rebel. You can still be coo,l but also be kicking-ass, girl power-wise, can’t you?” She also had a pretty brilliant message for cancer itself. “It’s just like, ‘F**k off, cancer’, basically. No one likes you, go away. That is basically it. Nobody likes you, so just go. No one gives a shit about you.” Too right.

Katie initially claimed she was divorcing Kieran, but was letting him stay in the house for the sake of their children – Jett, four, and three-year-old Bunny – as well as her other kids Harvey, 15, Junior, 12, and Princess, ten. But hours later, Kieran, 30, posted a picture of Katie lying on his lap and said he was watching the boxing with “wifey”. He was also pictured out with the kids, and we’re toldthat Katie is happy to have him there because he does so much athome. “Kieran is too useful to Katie to let him go,” explains the friend. “He’s a round-the-clock babysitter, he looks after all the animalsand does everything around the house. To be honest, although she’s upset, in some ways it’s worked outwell. She is the victim, but she can show her mature side by putting theneedsof thekidsfirst.”

Kieran posted this last week

of herannouncementhasraised eyebrows.Shehadbeendropping hints for months that all was not well in their marriage, and in recent weeks had been going out without her wedding ring and saying things on Loose Women such as, “Once a cheater, always a cheater.” In her tell-all interview about the affair – published on 26 August – Katie claims she had discovered “intimate text messages” two weeks previously, leading to Kieran’s confession. However, on 21 August the couple had been posting loved-up pictures while on a family holiday together. It’s all seemingly very mysterious – why wait till last week to tell the world? Well, her latest Q&A tour started last week, but ticket sales weren’t good, and she’s working on a new autobiography. Katie was also paid a reported six-figure

Nikki Brown, the nanny

sumforsellingherstoryto anationalnewspaper, andfilming of the second series of her reality show, Katie Price: My Crazy Life starts soon – she needs the publicity and drama. “Katie knows a happy life doesn’t always make interesting reading, and she has made a massive financial gain from this, which she says is one consolation,” our source says. “She knows that timing is everything and more people will want to come and see her on tour if she’s got more heartache and controversy to talk about, rather than rehashing the same old stuff about Kieran and Jane. She loves bringing out books to give her side of the story, but before this new affair, there wasn’t much for her to talk about. Now she’s found a gold mine. It certainly goes some way to making up for the breakdown of her marriage.”

WHAT NOW? If Katie does go through with her third divorce, then she’ll be making sure everything will be done on her terms. “She won’t want Kieran to get a penny,” our source says. “It’s seems like it’s just another Pricey roller-coaster ride, where amazingly she’ll come out smelling of roses. She’ll keep Kieran close, as she needs him to look after the kids and all their animals. She hates being on her own, so she won’t want him to go until she has another husband lined up. She’s wanted out of the marriage for a while, but was worried Kieran was starting to get sympathy because of the way she speaks to him on her reality show. Now, it seems clear she’s the victim again.” As the lady herself is all too fond of saying: never underestimate the Pricey. I

Yes, he’s pleased to see you

twastheirfirstholiday asafamilyof threeand, naturally, Cheryland Liam Payne couldn’t resist uploading gorgeous pictures of themselves (and Baby Bear’s adorable chubby hand) on their Instagram accounts. But while it may have looked like the getaway of dreams, as they celebrated Liam’s 24th birthday in Majorca, we’re told things were a little awkward behind the scenes – mainly thanks to Liam’s mates and Chezza’s glam squad coming along for the ride. “Obviously, Liam wanted to enjoy their first proper family holiday together with Bear,”

www.heatworld.com 9-15 September 2017

says heat ’sinsider.“But he also wantedtohaveareally fun few dayswithhismates. He called it his ‘birthday blowout’, and he wanted to go big, so several of his friends from school flew out to join them. Cheryl is happy for Liam to let his hair down – and she was enjoying a few drinks, too – but she felt the pressure for him to have a good time, while showing she could still be fun. Plus, she’s still getting to know his friends – but she was really making an effort.” Liam’s parents also flew out to join the couple on his actual birthday – this holiday is sounding less romantic by the second. And

Chezza also had other things on her mind, as she was preparing for her big post-baby body reveal, while the group enjoyed a day trip on a luxury boat in the Med. “Cheryl stage-managed these ‘perfect’ snapshots for social media,” says heat ’s insider close to the couple, who had Bear in March after a whirlwind 15 months together. “Honestly, she was getting obsessive about it. The public got to see four or five glossy shots, but behind the scenes, Cheryl spent hours getting them done, and then hours choosing which ones to post. She tried around five different outfits and bikinis to see what looked best for the pics, and she had her entire entourage there with her to do her

hair and make-up. They tried lounging shots like the one she posted, but also some sunbathing ones, various poses around the yacht, and hundreds with Liam – some kissing, some cuddling.” It was, of course, our first glimpse of 34-year-old Cheryl’s postpregnancy body, but Liam couldn’t understand the effort behind all the pictures. “Cheryl was working out and dieting hard for the few weeks before the trip,” says the insider. “It was definitely something she felt she had to prove. She put on weight while she was pregnant, like everyone does, and wanted to get back her usual size 6. She wanted to show the world that she was back to her best, with

a six-pack to boot. She reallydidn’t want tobein a bikiniwith even ahintof a babybelly.Liam is usedtoallthiswith work photoshoots, but even hewasgettingabitfrustrated with her.Hewassayingthat he’d prefer it if she enjoyed the moments, instead of staging them for pics. But he knows how important it was for her.” And Liam clearly appreciates all her hard work, saying last week, “She is a superwoman. Is boozy Mel B OUT OF CONTROL? Friends fear the former Spice Girl is ‘going off the deep end’

S

he’sbeenthrough hellthepastfew months after ending her ten-year marriage to Stephen Belafonte in April. And as Mel B deals with the fallout from her divorce battle, you can hardly blame her for wanting to let off some steam. But we’re told friends of the former Spice Girl are becoming increasingly worried about the star, as her partying has kicked up a notch in recent weeks. Now, following a boozy appearance at the MTV Video Music Awards and claims that she has been seeing a married LA policeman, those close to the 42 year old are concerned for her wellbeing. “We’re worried Mel may overdoing the boozing and partying a bit,” a source close to the star tells heat. “She’s lost weight, and she often goes out all night and then has trouble staying awake in the daytime, while she’s at work filming.” Last week, Mel made

ashow-stoppingentrance attheVMAs,wearingagold sequinned dress emblazoned with the slogan, “YOU WILL NEVER OWN ME” – an apparent dig at her estranged husband, who she has accused of physical and mental abuse during their time together. But her defiant attitude took a wobble later in the evening, as she hit the after-party at Tao nightclub in West Hollywood. “Mel was chain-smoking cigarettes and knocking back the vodka and Champagne. She was making out with some guy who was a dead ringer for Stephen,” our source tells us. “It seems like the stress is making her self destruct.” Mel’s behaviour follows an on-air meltdown in which she threw water at her America’s Got Talent co-star Simon Cowell, after he made a crude joke about her marriage. She’s also reported to have been involved with Beverly Hills

cop,RyanLawrence, who’sonly beenmarriedfor11months. Our insider continues, “Mel is pretty into him, but it’s a very complicated situation, and one she doesn’t need.” But while the star continues to worry friends with her unhinged behaviour, help is on its way in the form of Mel’s mum, Andrea Brown, who’s moving to LA. Last week, Andrea revealed on Twitter that her visa had finally been approved, after having run into trouble withthe American Embassy for overstaying on a previous visit. Now, with the relocation apparently going ahead, insidershope that with her mum there to supporther, Mel will finallyget some much-needed stability in herlife. Q CHARLOTTE OLIVER

But now the singer is taking drastic action to put an end to her weight gain. “Mariah’s realised that she may have a major issue with overeating, and it’s impacting her life in a negative way,” a friend of the diva tells heat. “In the old days, she’d have just had surgery like lipodissolve andhitthegymforabit if she’dputonweight, but that’snotenoughnow. Brad understands this, although, of course, it’s a difficult time.” While he’s upset, Brad, 53, knowsthe situation could have been a lot worse. He admitted he had a problem with alcohol in an interview earlier this year, and was also investigated by the FBI– but later cleared – after an incident with eldest son Maddox, 16, on a private jet. “Originally, Ange wanted sole legal custody, which would have given her total control over all aspects of the children’s lives,” explains the insider. “But Brad has worked hard these past few months to clean up his act, stay sober, and get fit and healthy. The kids mean so much to him, so, of course, it will hurt if he can’t see them every day.” This means that Ange and Brad will have to work together and co-parent the Jolie-Pitt brood – we foresee a LOT of awkward chats. ehadusfromthemomenthe gildedapear –anddashing architect Tom Hetherington just kept delivering, with his chilled manner, floppy grin and that pencil tucked behind his ear. A bit of Twitter-stalking, meanwhile, turned up only more reasons to be Team Tom. The 29 year old (who lives in Edinburgh with partner David) isn’t just a point-scorer in the kitchen – he’s also a keen rugby player, showing that tough athletes can also be delicate bakers. Tom even posted a photo of a chocolate and peanut butter fudge he made for his teammates to apologise for keeping them in the dark about GBBO. We’d like an apology, too, Tom.

TheScotisalsoaseasonedmarathon runner, completingeventsathome and in London and New York, raising money in memory of his twin brother Robert. Tragically, soldier Robert was killed four years ago while serving in Afghanistan, after a Taliban explosion hit his armoured vehicle. Tom says the memory of Robert’s strength pushes him to achieve more in his own life. He attributes his baking skills to his mother, home economics teacher June, as well as his grannies, who were both excellent cake-makers. With genetic talent – and determination – on his side, Tom has the ingredients to go all the way. Stalk himself yourself on Insta at @TomEatsCake. Q

Is that the Bake-Off tent behind you, Tom?

Adventurous – in his flavours, his fashion and, we suspect, in the bedroom. Erm, hello? He suggestively joked about his compass and compared his chocolate to sex.

Flo gives us major grandma goals, with her love of cocktails and cutting the rug with her mates. We want to be her, we want her to adopt us… so many emotions.

Nice enough, but currently flying so far under the radar we wouldn’t be able to pick him out of a baking tray. He’s the banker? No, sorry, still can’t remember him.

Focused-yet-fun, and with a good rapport with Sandi and Noel, Siberianborn Julia gets top marks for her strong eyebrow game, and her Russian-dolls illusion cake.

Cheeky, confident and competent in the kitchen, if we were five *cough* ten years younger, we’d definitely let him bake us a cake. Plus, Paul’s a fan, so he should go far.

We predict Kate’s passion for history – and fusing it into her bakes – is going to get super-snoozy fast. Our advice: leave historical bakes where they belong, in the past.

He bakes, has nice arms, and knows what an iron is – of course we fancy him. His partner David is an obstacle, though, so it’s back to the Bake Off drawing board.

Stace hasn’t really come out of her shell yet – apart from the occasional meltdown – but we reckon that, after getting stuck into the cooking sherry, she’d be a laugh.

He’s the class boff who gets good results and gives toffee-coated apples to teacher. Stevo needs to hang with the rebels (Liam and Flo) and loosen up a bit.

We love that supersmart biomedical scientist Yan is actually a scatty Cathy (she forgot to switch her oven on), and that she met her wife at the local football club. Ledge.

A bit average. But her fortune cookie messages – “Today you will mostly poo candy floss”, “You’ll get bored of writing fortunes” – gave us hope for a more fun side.

emember being17andcoppingoffwith Stavros on yourannualfamilyholiday in Crete? (Just us?) JuliaChernogorova did one better with her holiday fling – she married him. The 21 year old, who comes from the remote coal mining region of Kemerovo in Siberia, met her British husband Matt, 24, while on holiday in Turkey in 2013. A year later, they married and settled in Ifield, West Sussex, where Julia soon discovered some pretty hardcore baking skills. Yep, while most teens are still dining on a student diet of Cup Noodles and toast, Julia threw herself into three years of baking practise, honing her craft before finally applying for this year’s GBBO. She even quit her job booking private jets for clients so that she could focus fully on her dream of winning the competition. She might be young, but there’s no messing around with this one. In fact, driving the point home that she’s not to be underestimated, Julia’s very first showstopper was a Russian doll cake with another doll cake inside. We like to think this represents who she is oh so multi-layered, and full of surprises. Check her out at @JChernogorova.

Liam Charles has a superhero identity – the caped crusader, Cake Boy. The 20 year old, who studies drama at Goldsmiths University, earned the alter ego from friends who couldn’t get enough of his epic baked goods during lectures. And Liam’s putting his powers to good use, as he tries to make baking cool among the younger generation. When not treading the boards at uni or filling the Bake Off tent with delectable edibles, Liam can be found at home in Hackney, teaching his nephews how to achieve the shiniest glacé, among other top baking tips. For more of his cakes, go to @LiamcBakes.

an elephant. Last week’s ceremony, at Remenham Church, near their home, was attended by celeb mates Noel Gallagher, Jonathan Ross and Fearne Cotton. Also in attendance was Laura’s big sister, Sky Sports presenter Kirsty Gallacher. Things might’ve been low-key, but that doesn’t mean they were conventional. Russell, who once dated supermodel Kate Moss, splashed out £2,300 on hiring an old-fashioned New Orleans-style steamboat for the occasion. The boat ferried the entire wedding party along the river to the reception, where staff served up an

Indian-themed dinner. In the days after his nuptials, Russell told his listeners on Radio X that he was enjoying “living a married life now. I’m domestic”. He also admitted that he’d had his nose waxed in preparation. OK… Russell and Laura have dated on and off since 2007 and got engaged in July 2016. They had baby girl Mabel last November, and Russell said he was “lit up by the idea” of being a parent, adding, “I’m very excited about becoming a dad and I’m preparing myself. I am just getting ready to be with a new little person.” The former ladies’ man has turned over a new leaf since getting serious with Laura, admitting in an interview that he was “enjoying monogamy”. Russell and Laura – who describes herself as “a lover of food and drink and general homemaking” – share a quiet life together in the countryside, which Russell says is “very calm. I look at the chickens, they hatch some eggs. Basically, I’m like a village idiot — just looking at livestock. I’m so much happier over the course of the day to see one or two people and a few chickens, that’s a good way of living.” But did the chickens get an invite to the wedding? No, they did not. ■

The X Factor judge gets honest

N

KATY’S WEEK FROM HELL Last week should have been a great one for Katy Perry – after all, she was hosting the VMAs and has a new single out – but instead it was one of her worst. Not only did her ex-husband remarry (while she and Orlando Bloom remain on/off), but she was slammed for her presenting skills, with viewers calling her “next-level cringe worthy”. To make matters worse, Katy’s old rival Taylor Swift mocked her in the Look What You Made Me Do video, and then a stagehand filed a lawsuit against her, claiming she lost a toe on Katy’s Prismatic world tour back in 2014. Here if you need to talk, babe.

ext year will be a milestone birthday for X Factor judge Nicole Scherzinger, and she’s confessed to being hit by the biological-clock fear. During an interview last week, the 39 year old said that turning 40 soon meant she felt “pressure” to start making babies, and added that her mum is “praying every day” for it to happen. “As a woman, you do [worry],” the singer said during promo interviews for the new series of The X Factor. “Especially for me, because I come from a big family, so one day I do want to have a family. My mum is all about families as well, and she comes from ten brothers and sisters, so she’s praying every day for me.” Nicole then added that she was “sure” it would happen, though which hopefully won’t come as too much of a surprise to her 26-year-old boyfriend, Bulgarian tennis star Grigor Dimitrov. The former Pussycat Doll has

spoken before about her broodiness, and said last year, “I ain’t got no kids yet. Of course, work has come at a sacrifice. I’ve missed out on life.” In fact, it was said to be part of the reason why she ended things with ex-boyfriend Lewis Hamilton in 2015, after seven years together, as he wasn’t ready to commit. Let’s hope Grigor is a bit more cooperative… ■

HUSBAND GOALS #058

HARRY BARON

If you haven’t been following this series of Made In Chelsea: Ibiza, WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU? IT’S BEEN SO GOOD. Sadly, it – and its hot, hot, hot central villain, Harry – is leaving our screens for a bit, as the final episode airs this week. The 27-year-old mammoth flirt – who’s spent this summer series running around after Jamie Laing’s girlfriend, Frankie Gaff – is a new addition to the reality show. He joined halfway through series 13, filming around his job as a club promoter in London’s Mayfair. Which means – if he were your husband – Harry could get you free drinks. Something to think about. If that body and that face and that thick head of hair aren’t enough to convince you, feel free to consider Harry’s immense wealth. Obviously, we would never be so shallow as to say money is important when it comes to matters of the heart, but have you seen that boy’s fancy convertible? Not too shabby.

We’re in his dressing room at Elstree Studios, as he prepares to host the final recording of the twelfth series of Sky1 show, A League Of Their Own, and his mind is flitting from one topic to another at breakneck speed. Last night he saw the “incredible” stage play The Ferryman in the West End, this morning he took part in a Vogue photoshoot by Mario Testino (“Yeah, I know... Crazy, right?”), and he’s very keen to know what his friend Harry Styles is like in the film Dunkirk, which he hasn’t had time to see yet, mainly because he’s been busy filming these nine new episodes of ALOTO. He’s flying back to LA the next morning, to resume his normal schedule of hosting The Late Late Show every weekday. And he’s revelling in the profound pleasures of a Nando’s delivery for lunch, which he generously offers to share with heat.

Corden’s face lights up when discussing those guys, and he’s clearly formed a bond for life with all of them. Before we get deep into the bromance, however, there’s Piers Morgan to discuss… Who have been your favourite guests in this series of ALOTO? Well, Romesh Ranganathan is an incredibly funny man, and I love him every time he’s on the show. Thierry Henry is a wonderful guest to get, and [Chelsea footballer] Cesc Fàbregas was great. Cesc says something on the show that he’s never said publicly before, which felt like quite a moment. Piers Morgan being booed is always very fun, and the audience’s natural reaction to boo him is quite astonishing.

What do you make of Piers becoming such a hate figure? I think it’s a strange thing, because Piers just sees it as sport. I think if you spend your life as a tabloid newspaper editor, and then you become as influential and powerful as he is on TV, you understand that having an opinion is very valuable. But his opinions often seem a tad offensive to many… The truth is that anyone is allowed to be offended. Is there anything Jack has ever said “no” to on the show? I don’t think so. Jack is just so brilliant, and a lot of the time I just sit back and think, “You are so funny…” He’s just a consummate performer. I don’t know any other panel show that has the level of ambition of this series. When we started we had Jimmy Carr putting his head into a bowl of water, and now we have Jamie and Freddie hanging from the ceiling, inching across a beam before jumping onto a platform. We just filmed that last night, and they were genuinely terrified. What’s the difference between hosting ALOTO and The Late Late Show? Oh, it’s much m the chat show. HE’S MISTER POPULAR The 51 year old’s first TV hit was a teen comedy called Popular in 1999, which ran for two seasons and established the writer/producer’s bold, fearless style, addressing issues such as sexuality head-on. Entertainment Weekly put it in their list of the Best Cult Shows Ever in 2012, and Ryan would return to the high school world in a major way ten years later. But before that, he created one of the most daring and outrageous shows ever. Nip/Tuck premiered in 2003 and immediately caused a stir. Set in the world of LA cosmetic surgery, it focuses on two colleagues played by Julian McMahon and Dylan Walsh, and

25 Reasons why we loved

THE BIG BREAKFAST Celebrating the show that made early mornings more bearable

#50

O

n Monday 28 September 1992, Channel4 and the Planet 24 production company launched an innovative live show that changed the landscape of breakfast TV forever. The Big Breakfast was unlike anything we’d ever seen before, perfectly combining incredibly starry interviews with fun features, brilliantly silly games and excellent presenters and crew (all filmed in an old lock keeper’s cottage in east London). With the house closing its doors for the final time in 2002, complete with a tribute from none other than HRH the Prince of Wales himself, nothing has quite replaced it in termsof must-seemorningTV.Sonow,asweget readytocelebrateits25thbirthday,herearesomeof themanyreasons TheBigBreakfast wasthebest.Q

She makes everything look amazing – if she was dressed in a bin bag, she would still look fab. PEAKY BLINDERS THE SHOW: A down-and-dirty 1920s drama set in Birmingham (series four out in autumn), featuring a feared gang of gun-toting and grubby (but handsome) men. Today’s Birmingham is less about violence and grime, thankfully, and more about good times. STAY:Zoom back a century by booking a weekend in luxurious boutique hotel, The High Field TownHouse. It has all the elegance of aVictorian villa, plus mod cons suchasrainfall showers – and room ninehas a roll-top bath. Rooms start

at £100 (Highfieldtownhouse.co.uk). DO: Much of the show is filmed at the Black Country Living Museum in Dudley, where you can visit the famous Anchor Forge (tickets £17.50 @ Bclm.co.uk). The museum also hosts Blinders-themed nights during the year. Afterwards, sing your heart out like barmaid Grace at the Peaky Blinders pub in Dale End, where the staff wear flat caps (albeit not as well as Cillian Murphy). You can get a Peaky-themed cocktail (whiskey and blackcurrant) for a mere £2.70. The Shelbys would approve.

Dam, it’s pretty

THE MINIATURIST THE SHOW:A novel-turned-TVdrama (out in October) set in Amsterdam in 1686. It follows young Nella Oortman, who moves to a palatial pad (plus a lonely marriage) and starts to receive mysterious doll’s house figures. Today’s Amsterdam still has magnificent architecture, as well as hippies on their hols. STAY: It’s not quite the right era, but a night at the decadent Hotel De L’Europe, built in 1896, will transport you to Amsterdam’s grand past. If you think no ceiling is complete without a chandelier, you’ll be in

www.heatworld.com 9-15 September 2017

heaven. Take afternoon tea overlooking river, sup a glass of fizz at the bar, or have a dip in the pool. Rooms from £305 for a double (Deleurope.com). DO: It’s a no-brainer – go and see the stunning doll’s house that inspired the whole story. It’s in the Rijksmuseum (entry around £16, Rijksmuseum.nl/en/ ) and features teeny tiny replicas of everything a fancy 17th-century home ought to have had. Then explore the trinket shops of The Nine Streets, which author Jessie Burton likened to walking onto a film set.

OUTLANDER THE SHOW:Sexy, time-swept drama set in the wilds of Scotland, satisfyingly replete with rugged mountains and rugged men (new series starts in September). STAY: You can barely move in Scotland for castles, so why stay anywhere without a turret? Airth Castle Hotel & Spa ticks all the period-drama boxes – imposing exterior, a whiskey-filled bar and a vast pool (OK, not historical, but we bet Claire and Jamie would approve). Rooms from £70pp per night (Airthcastlehotel.com). DO: Drag yourself out of the pool for a day out in nearby Culross – you’ll recognise it as the village of Cranesmuir, where Geillis lives. It’s super-charming, thanks to the cobbled streets and colourful cottages. Pop into the sunflower-yellow Culross Palace (£10.50 @ Nts.org.uk) to have a gawp at Claire’s herb garden.

THE SHOW:Thisperioddrama starsformer Who actressJenna Colemanasourfeistyformer monarch. It’s mostly filmed in Yorkshire, but London’s the place to go for a royalty-themed vacay. STAY: For the ultimate in cashsplashing class, head to Claridge’s – a regular royal haunt that was visited by the actual Victoria in 1860. Other famous guests have included Audrey Hepburn and Kate Moss, who celebrated her 30th there. Can’t afford to stay over? Go for a drink instead. Choose from the swanky Claridge’s Bar, or our pick, the dark, dramatic Art-Deco-feel Fumoir Bar, an open secret among celebs. Rooms from £510 per night (Claridges.co.uk). DO: Head to Buckingham Palace – it’s Queen Vicky’s old home, after all (£39.50 @ Royalcollection. org.uk). Although, tbf, she wasn’t particularlytaken with it. Vic famously complained aboutthe draughts and the smelly drains. We’ve all been there, love. Afterwards, go for a slap-up curryto celebrate the monarch’s obsession with it –she ate one practicallydaily.

SEX TALK Eva believes that good sex is key to a good relationship, and credits her youthful glow to quality time spent with her husband José Bastón.

Six-day week “Staying in shape does not come easily,” admits Eva. “Especially as you get older and you don’t have as much time or energy.” Talking about her sixday training regime, she says, “I run a lot. But I also do SoulCycle, Pilates and yoga. I mix it up.”

Top chef Eva follows a diet that is low-sugar and carb-light. Instead of eating out, she prefers to cook organic food at home. “I actually love fish and vegetables. I was raised on vegetables.Anything green– spinach, broccoli, Brussels sprouts…”

MIND OVER MUFFIN TOP Even though she has curves in all the right places, Eva says, “[Women] do have a lot of pressure when people are telling us what we should look like… I don’t feel like we should go by these rules and social constructs of society, where you have to be a certain size.”

TV NEWS Harry: going back to his roots

WALLIAMS PROBED BY BISHOP

“Is it me, or does John seem a bit unfocused?”

David Walliams is the first guest in the new series of John Bishop’s acclaimed in-depth talk show, In Conversation With…. During the frank chat, David touches upon being bullied at school and depression, while still being really funny. Subsequent guests in the series will include Dame Joan Collins, John Cleese, and Katie Price. The series begins on the W channel, 14 September, 9pm.

“We’re getting the gang back together!”

HARRY STYLES BACK ON THE X FACTOR

At the launch event for the new series of The X Factor last week, the show’s bosses revealed that Harry Styles will appear during the series – but wouldn’t confirm what he’d be doing. We live in hope for a Judges’ Houses role, but it’s more likely that he’ll be performing on the Sunday results show.

Good news: Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s Fleabag, one of the best comedies of recent years, will be back for a second series, the BBC has confirmed. But the bad news is, we will have to wait until 2019 for it, because Phoebe is so busy right now. She says, “I asked myself if Fleabag has more to say and, frankly, she hasn’t shut up since. Series two will be a whole new adventure, and I’m beyond thrilled to be coming back.”

EMMERDALE

‘It’s been a tough year for David and Tracy’ The Emmerdale star explains how David manages to mess up again

I

f there’s one thing you can rely on Emmerdale’s David Metcalfe to do, it’s to cock up. Happily married to Tracy (after some tense “will they won’t they” wedding day shenanigans), he has a canny ability to mess things up. Next week David’s at it again, after he finds Leyla drunk, in her wedding dress, feeling sorry for herself, and offers to lend her money to get out of her financial predicament. Why is that so bad? Well, because he’s basically given away his and Tracy’s holiday money. D’oh! Actor Matthew Wolfenden explains what (if anything) is going through his character David’s head... How have things been between David and Tracy recently? I think it’s been a tough year for them.

They haven’t had a great deal of time to put energy into their own relationship, as they’ve been supporting so many family members. They’ve had all [David’s dad] Pollard’s problems to deal with, plus the Jacob and Josh situation. This all came on the back of David’s cancer. Also,Tracy has had her dad, Frank, to worry about. So, I think they need some quality time together to just focus on each other. But Leyla soon comes between them, doesn’t she? Poor Leyla, she’s really a mess. She is wallowing in her own pity. She is really upset, so he ignores all Tracy’s calls and focuses on Leyla’s problem. He hears all about her money worries and, before he knows what he’s done, he’s given her all his and Tracy’s holiday money.

www.heatworld.com 9-15 September 2017

Uh oh. Tracy won’t take that well… He clumsily breaks the news to her in front of everyone at her birthday party, so she’s really upset, but has to try and look OK about it. But she walks out... So he quickly realises he’s messed up. Why is she so upset? Tracy explains it’s not about jealousy, it’s about feeling second best. She should have been consulted – they are meant to be a team. Does David still have any lingering feelings for Leyla? He is very fond of her, but I don’t think he looks at her like that. He’s happily married to Tracy. How much trouble do you think this will cause their relationship? Keep watching this week! I

The yin to husband Eamonn Holmes’ yang, Ruth rates her dancing highly after a few drinks, but would give herself a 2/10 sober. Let’s hope she’s well lubricated.

’Enders hunk Davood provides the eye candy this year, and is taking part to learn a new skill and test himself. He’s most looking forward to Halloween week, as he loves dressing up.

Ex-Emmerdale star Gemma isn’t very girly and says sparkly dresses and heels are way out of her comfort zone. At 5ft 9in and 11st, she wants a partner who is “tall and strong”.

Despite his JLS dance background, Aston maintains Strictly’s a “different ball game” and he’ll be starting again. A big fan of a deep-V tee, we’re expecting some pecs on show.

Former magician’s assistant Debbie may have learnt ballet and tap as a child, but that was over 35 years ago. Now she’s scared nerves may cause her to forget her moves.

The singer says her biggest challenge will be not holding a mic, which she sees as her safety net. The Strictly fan says as long as she makes her family proud, it’ll be “OK.com”.

The Other One

BBC2, WEDNESDAY 13 SEPTEMBER, 10PM This comedy pilot from writer Holly Walsh is about two sisters, both called Catherine Walcott, who each had no idea the other existed until their father suddenly dies. It turns out daddy Walcott was a bigamist who maintained two families for years. There’s his daughter Cathy (Ellie White), who has a doof of a fiancé (Amit Shah) and is very middle class, along with her distraught mother (Rebecca Front). In contrast the other daughter, Cat (Lauren Socha), has seemingly slept with every man on Tinder and lives with her hilarious mum (Siobhan Finneran). It’s deliciously funny, yet also surprisingly moving. ++++ Boyd Hilton Family misfortunes

Comedy Playhouse: Static

THE CULTURE KEY

BBC1, FRIDAY 15 SEPTEMBER, 10.35PM This latest in the run of new one-off comedies in this slot is a sitcom vehicle for deeply likeable funnyman Rob Beckett. Here he plays a twentysomething dude called Rob who leaves his job in London to move back in with his parents, only to discover they’ve just sold their house and have moved to a static caravan park in Margate. So, now poor Rob is jobless and living on a sofa bed in his parents’ trailer. At least his mum (Alison Steadman) is delighted to have someone to cook for, while his dad (Phil Davis) is just happy he can get thousands of football channels on TV. It’s an unashamedly warm, old-fashioned family sitcom. In a good way. ++++ Boyd Hilton

Amazon Prime Video, from Monday 11 September

T

his time-travelling fantasy is so popular, it’s been getting millions of viewers on More 4 every week, despite that second series having already screened over a year ago on Amazon Prime. Now the brand-new third season begins next Monday, with the rest of the episodes showing weekly on the streaming service. The new run picks up right after Claire (Caitriona Balfe) returns to her life in

1948. She’s now pregnant, and hot hunk Jamie (Sam Heughan) is the father, but she has to live with her 20th-century husband, Frank (Tobias Menzies). Meanwhile, back in the 18th century, Jamie suffers from the aftermath of his last stand at the battle of Culloden, and – as if that’s not traumatic enough – also has to deal with the loss of Claire, the love of his life. ★★★★ Boyd Hilton “He doesn’t look like me.” “Yeah, about that…”

PREVIEW

It

Cert 15, 135 minutes, opens 8 September Starring: Jaeden Lieberher, Sophia Lillis, Bill Skarsgård Director: Andrés Muschietti THE PLOT The TV miniseries adapted from Stephen King’s sprawling novel is now a cult classic, and its evil monster has come to define the image of the scary clown. In this big-screen outing for the story, a smalltown boy (Lieberher) is traumatised by the disappearance a year before of his little brother. He and fellow pre-teen misfits the Losers’ Club face unwanted attention from the town bully, but scarier still is their battle with a shape-shifting, child-abducting fiend who frequently appears in the form of clown Pennywise (Skarsgård). WHAT’S RIGHT/WRONG WITH IT? The reviews embargo is after our on-sale date, so we can only tell you that the book’s 1958-set action is updated to 1989, also omitting the second half, where the story jumps forward 25 years and the kids are grown up. VERDICT Stephen King’s Dark Tower didn’t transfer to the screen so well last month. We have much higher hopes for It. Charles Gant

ITV, Friday 15 September, 9pm

t really is a joy to have this most breezy and inventive of comedydramas back for another run, and in this second episode of the new series, Adam (James Nesbitt) and Tina (Leanne Best) wrestle with the next big challenge of their relationship: whether to have kiddies or not. Adam’s in favour; Tina’s not so sure. A pattern is developing there. As for young Matt (Ceallach Spellman), he has a revelation

of his own that sends shockwaves through Adam. Meanwhile, Karen (Hermione Norris) is worried that her diva star novelist is taking her sweet time over her next book, Pete (John Thomson) delights in his new role as Entertainments Manager, arranging a tea dance at the care home, and David (Robert Bathurst) thinks he’s in need of a makeover to keep up with Nikki (Siobhan Finneran). ++++ Boyd Hilton

uth Jones’ comedy-drama became one of Sky 1’s flagship shows when it arrived in 2012, partly because of Jones’ sympathetic portrayal of the ordinary single mum of the title. The balance between comedy and drama has been great, too, as we’ve agonised over Stella’s romantic choices. And now we’re heading back into the Welsh valleys for

the sixth and final time. The excellent Patrick Baladi (corporate boss Neil from The Office) returns as her man Michael, although it’s uncertain how long he’ll remain her man this time, seeing as he’s been offered a job in Dubai. Fear The Walking Dead

Upstart Crow

The Walking Dead ’s prequel spin-off is back for the second half of season three. Real TWD obsessives can watch it “live” as it goes out in the US at 2am, Game Of Thrones-style, or else you can wait for this primetime showing. Kicking off with two back-to-back episodes, it begins with the Clarks and Ottos having secured a truce with the Nation. But it’s a very uneasy one. ++++ Liam Wright

Ben Elton recently bemoaned TV critics for slagging off comedies filmed in studios before a live audience, as this series is. But, unlike his awful previous effort The Wright Way, Upstart Crow – dealing with the adventures of William Shakespeare – is really good, so most critics like it. ITV, MONDAY 11 SEPTEMBER, 9PM In what must be be an unprecedented situation in TV history, two new drama series written by the same two brothers (Harry and Jack Williams, of The Missing fame) are being shown at exactly the same time on two rival channels. So there’s this one, on ITV, which tells the story of a night that changes the lives of Laura Nielson (Joanne Froggatt) and Andrew Earlham (Ioan Gruffudd) forever – a story so superbly set up, you never quite know who’s telling the truth. Rellik

BBC1, MON 11 SEP, 9PM The Williamses’ second new drama has a cunning storytelling device at its core. Rellik (killer spelled backwards) opens with the catching of a serial killer, before moving back in time to the story’s beginning – the crime itself, and the search for the perpetrator. Damaged and disfigured Met detective Gabriel Markham (Richard Dormer) is in charge of the hunt, accompanied by smart and intense partner Elaine (Jodi Balfour). In contrast with the far more naturalistic Liar, Rellik is highly stylised and deliberately discombobulating, so you’re not quite sure what the hell is going on. And if you saw The Missing, you’ll know the writers are incredibly adept at this timey-wimey stuff. ++++ Boyd Hilton

rama fans have become increasingly obsessed with Romans this side of the millennium, so it was only a matter of time before reality TV producers craved a slice of hot gladiatorial action. So here’s the format: eight handsome men are “transported” back to the Roman Empire, to see how they look in gold lamé underwear. Each one is accompanied by their girlfriend, who helps to train them for the Emperor’s Games, while actors play roles such as the Emperor’s assistant Dominus. Yes, the prize is only £10,000, but that probably would’ve been ten million pounds back in Roman times. Surely our favourite thing about this show, though, is that the producers have found someone called Roman – Roman Kemp, son of Martin – to do the voiceover. +++ Jason Arnopp

The all-seeing Jan Jacques tells you what the stars have in store this week

LEO 23 Jul-23 Aug

SAGITTARIUS 22 Nov- 21 Dec

You’redazzling,asVenusinyour signyieldsaglossyconfidence. “I have the stardom glow,” proclaimed fellow Leo J-Lo–and, this week, so do you. Health-wise, watch that posture (it’s a Leo weakness). A back and shoulder massage could prevent aches. LUCKY ACCESSORY: Shades

Bewareconflictat workthisweek. A testy Mars aspect suggests career friction – you could find yourself fending off competitors, so do be on your guard. Elsewhere, an issue with your mates may become pressing. Again, it’s your leadership kills which count. UCKY DESTINATION: The top

TAURUS 20 Apr-20 May A well-deserved career boost could be on the cards, thanks to a lovely Mars/Uranus aspect – even if it comes at a price, it’s certainly worth paying. Elsewhere, if you’re asked for help with a charitable cause, do consider it, as it could lead to great things. LUCKY SAYING: Take the bull by the horns

VIRGO 24 Aug-23 Sep

CAPRICORN 22 Dec-19 Jan

A sweet Sun aspect hintsat a super-glam you this week. And since you’ve got it, it’s yourduty to flaunt it. The planets alignfor a light and happy mood, sogo socialise. As a slightly strange bonus, you may find your psychic ability enhanced. LUCKY SMILE: 1,000watt

A stressful Saturn aspect indicates hat someone may knock your onfidence at work, but it’s probably ot a deliberate swipe, so try not o worry. Elsewhere, a strong 9th use signals travel opportunities. o matter how short the journey, worth considering. CKY TRUTH: You’re worth it

GEMINI 21 May-20 Jun

LIBRA 24 Sep-22 Oct

QUARIUS 20 Jan-18 Feb

Hello, halo! As planetary power moves away from you, you’re putting others first. Being saintly suits you, so keep on listening and helping. At work, be sure to curb that tendency to try and cover everything as fast as you can. Remember – life’s a marathon, not a sprint. LUCKY AURA: Calm blue

Don’t be a people-pleaserthis week, if it doesn’t suit. The planetary power is mostlyinth East – not your best sector–so let others do the talkingatwork Elsewhere, a strong 12thhouse of spirituality guides youto counsel a grateful friend. LUCKY IDEA: Coast alittle

s all about assertiveness this ek. If you want to stand up for ood cause, do it. Your fellow uarian Paris Hilton says, “Life oo short to blend in.” She’s right. sewhere, despite a strong 7th use of love, it’s probably best avoid big gestures. CKY ATTITUDE: Forthright

CANCER 21 Jun-22 Jul

SCORPIO 23 Oct-21 Nov

ISCES 19 Feb-19 Mar

Time to do your own PR. Pushing yourself doesn’t come naturally, but you’llfindyourself boostedbythe supportif youtalkyourselfupatwork. Awell-timedwaxingMoonhintsthat you’relookinggoodandfeeling confidentsocially, sogetoutthere. LUCKY MANTRA: Icandothis

You are always supporting you friends, but you’re rewardedfor itthisweekwhenyourealiseth depthof apal’sloyalty.Yougett paythisforwardatworkwhen acolleagueasksforyourhelp. LUCKY ATTRIBUTE: Strengt ofcharacter

ho you know can be more portant than what you know. marvellous Mars aspect hints at oney-making chances through cial contacts. Health-wise, several anets are in stressful alignment, be sure to get all the rest you need. CKY AIMS: Health and wealth
