Teaching Digital Citizenship with Jewish Values: February 10th – February 24th Facilitated by Devorah Heitner
As kids get more and more connected online parents have concerns about face to face social skills, empathy, and relationships. This module will address how to teach kind, empathic children in the digital age and will help teachers feel confident in their social wisdom, even if they feel that their kids are more "tech savvy." Participants will consider how our own practices translate to our children and how Jewish values manifest in the ways in which we conduct ourselves online.
Finding the Picasso in Pedagogy: Using art in the classroom: February 24thMarch 10th Facilitated by Laurie Bellet Create an experiential learning experience that will have a lasting impression on students. Through a lens of the developmental and sociological importance of incorporating art into the learning experience, participants will discover the difference between “art” and “craft” and identify which best supports students’ learning outcomes. Participants will design one or more art lesson plans to support their curricular areas and bring back to their classrooms.

Teaching Israeli History to American Teens and Tweens: Our history as a tool for spiritual and religious growth: March 10th-March 24th Facilitated by Daniel Rose According to the latest Pew Survey on American Jewish Culture and Attitudes, 31% of American Jews said they were not very/not at all emotionally attached to Israel, while 39% reported being “somewhat� attached. What can be done to raise these numbers? A strong foundational understand of the History of Israel is essential to the survival of American Jewry. This module will provide tips and tricks for implementing Israel education that will resonate in a middle and high school classroom. Participants will discover how student exposure to the History of Israel can lead to increased levels of religious commitment and identity.
