Yoga means the union of your mind, body, and spirit. It allows you to grow and learn. Relationships are like that; if you work on your relationships, it will also help you learn and grow. Nowadays, everyone is so busy on their phones, and this can create communication gaps in the long run. Exercise is a great way to build a bond between you and your partner. It increases the attraction between them. Couple yoga is also a great way to strengthen your relationship with your partner.

7 Couple Yoga Poses

Couple yoga is a form of yoga that is designed in such a way that it builds communication and trust between partners. Yoga sequences are designed in such a way that they help bridge the gaps between couples with the help of breath, touch, and intimacy. So let’s take a look at a couple of yoga poses.

01. Back-to-back partner breathing

● Sit in a cross-legged position and rest your backs and hands on each other.

● Now practice alternate breathing with your partner.

● You will exhale when he inhales, and vice versa.

● Practice 10–15 breaths.

It will improve your breathing and mindfulness and also build a connection with your partner.

● Sit in a cross-legged position, facing your partner.

● Look into each other’s eyes and hold each other’s arms.

● Keep breathing while maintaining eye contact.

● Repeat it as per your comfort.

This pose will help you detach from everything and just focus on each other.

02. Centering pose

● Sit in a cross-legged position while facing each other and holding each other's arms.

● Interlace your fingers with your partner’s fingers and make a firm grip.

● Inhale, lift your chest forward, and turn your gaze upward while extending your spine inward.

● While exhaling, bring your chin to your chest and round your back.

● Repeat this movement for 10–12 breaths.

The cat-cow pose is great for your back, core, and hip muscles. It also stretches your chest and lung muscles.

● Sit back-to-back with your partner, keeping your legs extended.

● Decide who will bend forward and who will lean backward.

● The person who will lean forward will stretch their legs out and rest their head on their knees.

● The other person will lean backward on the back of their partner.

● Breathe and try to feel each other’s breath.

● Hold it for 4-5 breaths, and then switch positions.

It stretches your back, spine, and hamstring muscles. However, practice it gently to avoid putting any pressure on your partner’s back.

04. Forward/backward fold

● Sit cross-legged and back-to-back with your partners.

● Put your right hand on your partner's left thigh and your left hand on your right thigh.

● Discuss it with your partner so that you guys can adjust themselves.

● Inhale and stretch your spine, and as you exhale, twist in the opposite direction from your partner.

● Hold it for 2-3 breaths, unwind, and then twist to the other side.

Seated Twist

Twin Tree

● Stand next to your partner, keeping your gaze forward. There should be a few feet of distance between you two.

● Bring your inner arm together, join your palm, and raise it above your head.

● Bend your outer legs and put your heels on your inner thighs.

● Join the outer palms together to balance them.

● Hold it for 6–8 breaths.

Just like the tree pose, this couple’s twin tree pose brings balance and grounding to your life.

● Lie back and hold your partner’s hand.

● Close your eyes and practice deep breathing.

● Allow yourself to relax with each breath.

This is the easiest pose you can enjoy with your partner. This yoga pose calms your nervous system, and when you practice it with your partner, you will feel the energy and connection.
