大家還記得第一次接觸殘 疾或有特 殊需要兒童的感覺嗎？其實身體 有殘 疾的小朋友除了需要定 期 接受一些 治療之外，在生 活上各方面 與一般小朋友 是 沒有分別的。在健 康及平等的環境 底下他們一樣可 以開心地 成長，將來也可以貢獻社會。
Do you remember the feeling of first contacting disable or special needs children? In fact, disabled children are the same as other children, except that they need regular treatment. They can still grow up happily in an equal and healthy environment. They are part of our society.

關於我們
About us 「街 坊小 子」木偶 劇 場 於 一九 七七 年 在 美 國 成 立，是 一 個 非 常 特 別 的 木 偶 劇 場，當 中 包 括 殘 疾 及 健 全 的 木 偶 人物，他 們 的 衣 著及行為 表現 均與 真正 的 小朋 友 無 異。這 劇 場旨在 透 過 木偶 表演的形式 教導學童認識 殘 疾兒童的特 殊需要，亦是當時唯一的 劇場運 用此種表演模式 教導兒童學習關心 社會及 接納別人。 經 過 廣 泛 研 究 及 探 討，「街 坊 小 子」已 製 作 一系 列 與 時 下 兒 童 息 息 相 關 的 劇目，此 種 表 演 模 式 現 已被 廣 泛 地 應 用 於 全 球 的 兒 童 及 青少年 教育節目中。 「街 坊小子」作為一 個 全 球性社 區教 育 計劃，分 佈全 美 五十 個 洲及 全 球 超 過三十多個 國家，有超 過一千多個以社區為 本的表 演 劇團參 與。劇團 透過「街 坊小子」的模式 教導學童關心 社會，認識及 接納別人。 In 1977, ‘The Kids On the Block’ (KOB), an educational puppet troupe, was founded in the USA. The puppets are in life-size, dress and act like actual kids, representing real children and even disabled ones. The initial purpose of the group was to use puppets and role-playing to help introduce the special needs and problems of children with disabilities to the wider world of school children. It was a pioneering effort to underscore the similarities of all children in spite of their apparent differences so as to foster tolerance and understanding. After widespread and in-depth research amongst children from all ages and sections of the community, KOB came up with a list of topics that the children considered important to push for. Indeed, this has stood the test of time and proved itself in the ability of children all over the world to identify with these topics. Since then, KOB has become an important social-educational resource with over 1,000 performing troupes. KOB not only reaches every state in America, but is now found in over 30 countries around the world performing in their native tongue. In all cases, KOB uses the same entertainment driven shows to point out lessons in social interaction, recognition and to foster understanding, tolerance and acceptance. P. 5
香 港 弱 能 兒 童 護 助 會 及 香 港 復 康 會 於 一 九 九 五年 攜 手 將 「街 坊小 子」帶 進香 港，並 邀 請 到前教 育及 人力統 籌局局長王永平太平紳士， 在 香 港 理 工 大 學 蔣 震 劇 院 主 禮 開 幕 表 演。 劇 場 至 今 已 分 別 到 訪 過 全 港 逾 千 間 中、小 學 及機 構，為 逾二十多萬 名 觀 眾 表 演，劇目內 容 包羅萬有。 「街 坊小 子」的 表 演 形式 是 取 材自日本 的 文 樂 ( B u n r a k u) 木偶 劇，木偶 師需要全 身穿著黑色 衣 服，站 在 有 如 小 朋 友一 般 大小 的 木 偶 人物 後，扮 作 其 影 子 使 木 偶 仔 更 為 突 出 及 控 制 一 個如真人 般 大小的木偶人物 作 演出，並 且在表 演 過 程 中營 造 溫 馨 氣 氛。而 主 角 在 答 問 環 節 中，更會鼓 勵小朋友主動提出問題或意見作 評 論。此 互 動的 溝 通 形式，能 讓 小朋 友學 習關 懷 別 人，互 相 尊 重，並 且 勇 於 提 問，此 類 的 經 驗 將令他們畢生 受用。 自 一 九 九 七 年 起，「 街 坊 小 子」得 到 前 教 育 署及平 等 機 會 委 員 會 攜 手支 持「 共 融 及平 等 機 會 促 進 計 劃 」，香 港 賽 馬 會 慈 善 信 託 基 金 (“ 基 金”) 由 二 零 零 一 年 至 二 零 零 六 年 支 持 劇 場 的 表 演，而 於二 零 一二 年 再 次 得 到 基 金 捐 助，使「街 坊 小 子」可 繼 續 到 更 多 學 校 及 機 構 以 廣 東 話 及 英 語 作 表 演，灌 輸「 傷 健 一家親」的信念。

In 1995, the Society for the Relief of Disabled Children (SRDC) and the Hong Kong Society for Rehabilitation (HKSR) brought KOB to Hong Kong. In the Hong Kong Polytechnic University Chiang Chen Studio Theatre, Mr. Joseph Wong JP, former Secretary for Education and Manpower inaugurated the first performances to the wonder and enjoyment of an invited audience of children. Since that time, KOB has visited and performed in over a thousand primary and secondary schools and other institutions. Our shows have been well-received by an audience of well over two hundred thousand children over a wide range of subjects. The technique of KOB is based on the Japanese performing art of ‘Bunraku’ puppetry. This requires the performer in the background to be in complete black whilst manipulating an almost child sized puppet in the foreground. The effect is very intriguing and captures the attention of the audience. In order to seize on this attraction, the scripts then call on a question and answer dialogue between the puppets and the audience. The children can then comment on anything they have seen or even thought about and communicate through this interaction. It is hoped that this will deepen children’s understanding of the diversities of society and promote greater understanding of the importance of quality, caring for people and “Healthy Living” convictions. Since 1997, KOB has received additional recognition from the Education Department and additional sponsorship from the Equal Opportunities Commission for the nature of our shows. The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust (the Trust) supported KOB in 2001 to 2006, in 2012-2014, the Trust has come aboard again as our sponsor which will allow us to further develop the programme with more shows and the establishment of both a Cantonese and an English troupe to further our message.

專注力失調 / 過度活躍症 安雅 今 年11歲 ,就讀五年級。她不 斷學習 新的方法,去 應付 她的過 度活躍 症。她每 個月都會 和學 校社 工聊天,檢討一下她的 目標 , 還 會 談 及 其 他 的 問 題。安 雅 認 識 到,她希望做的事情都是能夠 做得到的。 就 好 像 她 說 :「我 現 在 知 道 , 如 果 我 感 到 沮 喪 或 者 失 去 控 制 時, 我 需 要 告 訴 我 的 父母和老師。」
ADHD The character is the 11 years old Anna Perry. She is continuously learning new ways to cope with ADHD. Several times a month, she meets with the school counselor to review her goals and talk about any problems. Anna is learning that she’s able to do all of the things she wants to do. She explains, “If I’m feeling frustrated or out of control, I know now that I need to tell somebody, like my mom or dad or my teacher.”
特殊學習困難 亞 花 告 訴 大 家 :「我有 特 殊 學 習 困 難 , 只 不過即係我需要有另一套學習方式囉。 」 由於她曾參加加強輔導班的活動,令她在 學 校 裡能 利 用自己適 應的學習方 式去學 習。本 劇目的主角 是十 一歲 的亞花 , 她 是 一 個 坦 率 的 女 孩 , 勇 於 向 別 人 解 釋 自己 與他人不同之 處。
Learning Difficulties “Having learning difficulties means that I learn in a different kind of way,” says Jennifer Hauser, an articulate 11-yearold, whose Resource Room experiences have given her confidence to apply her new learning strategies to her regular classroom. P. 9
兒童過胖 亞 輝透 過 羅牧師的啟發及 亞信與 小碧的 支持下,承諾以”吃少一點,運 動多一點” 的 方 法 去 改 善 健 康。本 劇目讓 觀 眾了解 飲食和運動的關係及其對體重和健康 的 影 響, 通 過 討 論 定 下 務 實 可行 的目標 , 鼓 勵 在生 活中作出小改 變去實踐健 康生 活。提 倡參與富趣 味性的活動,選擇以 更 多元化的方 式 度過 餘 暇,並教導小朋 友 學 懂諒解和接受體 型差異。
Obesity Zach is inspired by Reverend Robinson’s commitment to improve health. With the support of both Jason and Brenda, Zach is making small changes to help him “eat less and move more.” Script material focuses on the importance of understanding the relationship between food and physical movement and their effects on weight and health. The program strives to help prevent health problems through: discussion of possible causes & effects of unhealthy lifestyles, while encouraging children (and adults) to set realistic weight-loss goals and achieve them through small changes. Other issues addressed include increasing daily physical movement by making more active choices during free time and understanding and acceptance of differences in body types.

殘疾小朋友與他的哥哥 劇 中 的 主 角 是 一 個 十二 歲 的 男 孩 , 名 叫 亞 M i k e。他 的 孿 生 弟 弟亞 M a r k 患有 大 腦 麻 痺症。亞M i ke會以輕 鬆的手法講出 作為 殘 疾兒童的兄弟的喜怒哀 樂; 劇本 會 重 點介 紹照 顧 殘 疾 兒 童 的 技 巧、兄 弟 姊妹間的適 應、個人興 趣的發展,以及孿 生 兄弟經常遇 到的處境,例如錯認等。
Being the Brother or Sister of a Disabled Child This script features puppet character Michael Riley, the 12-year-old twin brother of Mark Riley—a little boy who has cerebral palsy. With candor and homor, Michael talks about life as the brother of someone with a physical disability. Script material covers specific issues e.g. parental attention, adjusting to disability in the family and pursuing individual interests. They even use the age-old ploy, used by countless identical twins, of switching places!
智能障礙 劇 中 的 主 角 是 一 名十 七 歲 患 有 唐 氏 綜 合 症 的 女 孩，名 叫 小 珍。劇 本 內 容 介 紹 唐氏 綜 合症的 徵 狀、患者如 何 選 擇 工作，並 用 例 子 解 釋 何 謂 智 能 障 礙，還 有 社 會 大 眾 對弱智人士的誤 解和雙 方的交往等。
Down’s Syndrome Puppet character, 17 year old Ellen Jane Peterson has Down Syndrome and this performance covers specific issues e.g. living with Down Syndrome and understanding what it means to have physical and mental difficulties – including entering the world of work. The performance also deals with the topic of people’s fear of others with a physical or mental disability.

健康小食 本 節目為 小 朋 友 介 紹 零 食 的 重 要 性，以 及 如 何養 成良 好 的 進食 零 食 習慣。透 過 劇中主角亞M i ke及 亞信的經 歷，小朋 友 認 識 到 良 好 的 進 食 零 食 習 慣，不單 是 要 知 道 吃些 什麼，還 要 在 適當時 候 進 食 零 食，劇中並會 涉及 牙齒 護理的問題。
Healthy Snacking This program introduces children to the importance of healthy snacks and good snacking habits. Children relate well to Jason Robinson and Michael Riley who, as kids themselves, share their fondness for sweets. Through these two KOB characters, children learn that healthy snacking means not only knowing what to eat but also when to eat it. Sweets are okay – once in a while! Some important basic facts about dental hygiene are also discussed.

預防濫用藥物 濫 藥 問 題 一直 備 受 關 注，部 份 兒 童 更早 在 小學階段已接觸到吸 煙，飲 酒及吸食毒品。 透 過 本 劇 的 主 角 施 頌 欣 和 葦 莉 的 故 事，讓 觀 眾 認 識 濫 藥 問 題 及 其 對 身 體 的 害 處； 學 懂 作 出 健 康 的 選 擇 及 分 辨 正 確 用 藥 各 非法 使 用藥物。
Drug Prevention Drug abuse is an alarming problem in our society. Some children may be introduced to certain ‘Gateway Drugs’ such as smoking, alcohol or solvent abuse as early as Elementary School. Studies show the use of ‘Gateway Drugs’ at an early age often leads to future problems associated with illegal substances. Through characters Joanne & Valerie, children learn about substance use, it effects on the body, and also the skills to make healthy choices. The differences between good medicine and illegal drugs are explored.
性別歧視 透 過 十 四 歲 的 主 角 亞 欣 去 反 映 一 些 與 性 別 定 型 有 關 的 例 子，發 掘 具 不 同背 景 和 興 趣 的人在 相 處 時可能 產 生 的 種 種 誤 解，以 及 分 析 既 定 看 法 和 偏 見 如 何 影 響 人 們 在 各面的發展機會。
Gender Problem 14-year-old Joanne Spinoza gives some examples of gender discrimination, how misunderstandings occur when people of different backgrounds and cultures come together and analyze how it develops peoples view and bias. P. 13
聽覺障礙 敏 儀 今 年 十二 歲，自 兩 歲 起 她 已 有 聽 覺 障 礙，她 會 告 訴 我 們 究 竟 聽 障 是 怎 樣 的 一 回 事，並 且 介 紹 自 己 如 何 憑 著 機 智 和 幽 默 感，化 解 種 種 社 交 溝 通 難 題。故事亦 提 到一些社 交常 識； 例如交 友技 巧，以及 澄 清某些對聽障人士的誤 解。
Deafness Mandy Puccini is 12 years old and has been deaf since the age of 2. Through Mandy, children will learn about the lives of the deaf children. Mandy shows her sense of humor and intelligence to solve communication problems in here social life. She also demonstrates her social skills to make friends and clarifies the misunderstanding of deaf people.
反吸煙 據 研 究 顯 示，兒 童 在 年 輕 時 就 養 成 吸 煙 習 慣，與 後 期 使 用非 法毒品有著 密 切關 係。本 劇目就個 別 小 學 生已有 吸 煙 之 經 驗，提 出「防 範 於 未 燃 」之 重 要 性，透 過 主 角 亞 力的 遭 遇，讓 小朋 友 認 識 到吸 煙 對身 體 之 影 響，並 且 學習應當如何作出正確之抉擇。
Anti-smoking Through Eric Van Aart’s story, children learn the disadvantages of smoking with explanation that smoking at a young age may lead to more serious drug use as they grow older. There is emphasis on helping children learn to make the right choice.

自閉症 透 過 劇 中 十 五 歲 有 自 閉 症 的 主 角 亞 偉 與 他 的 弟 弟 亞 迪 日常生 活 的 描 述，讓 小 朋 友 認 識 到 雖 然 偉 仔 有自閉 症， 但 他 是 家 中 不 可 或 缺 的 成 員。而 最 初 當 亞 欣 得 知 她 的 鄰居 時 感 到 十 分 驚 訝，故事 的 發 展 使 亞 欣 從 亞 偉 身上了 解 到 什 麼 是自閉 症。劇 中還 談 論 坊 間 有 關自閉 症 的 謠 傳 及 誤 解，如 脾 氣 急 躁、行為 指 導，減 低不 適當 行為、就 業 及 獨立生 活等等的問題。
Autism 15 year old David Franklin has Autism and lives with his brother Eddy Franklin. Despite his Autism, David is considered an equal member of his family. His neighbour Joanne Spinoza was shocked when she learned of David’s condition and learns more about Autism. This program also discusses the myth and misunderstanding of Autism in the society such as easily losing temper, and encourages career development and independent living of autistic people.

「街坊小子」 義工木偶師 「街 坊小子」木偶 劇場每年會到訪越百間學校及 青少年中心作演出。當中參與演出的木偶師全是 來自社會上各階層的熱心人士，他們犧牲了休息的 時間，出席各大小不同的彩排及訓練；到全港、九、 新界 各 區的 學 校 及機 構 為 小朋 友作 表 演，宣 揚 「傷健共融」 及「健康生活」的信念。部份的木偶師 已經參與「街坊小子」的演出服務達20年之久。

VOLUNTEERS
The Kids on the Block Volunteer The Kids on the Block (KOB) are visiting the hundreds of schools and youth centers for the performance each year. Among the performers, all are the enthusiastic people came from different social class in the society. They dedicated their rest time to attend KOB rehearsals and trainings; traveling to all the places over Hong Kong for schools and organizations performing. To teaching and promote “social inclusion” and “healthy living” for children. Most of the puppeteers have been joined KOB and provided services for 20 years. P. 16
因此，街坊小子的成功實在是有賴一群 義工木偶師共同的 努力，以及付出了他們寶貴的時間，才有機會讓小朋友能透 過木偶劇去了解、認識有特殊需要的人士和學習如何與他們 相處，關懷及幫助別人。
Therefore, the success of The Kids on the Block is really depends on the group of volunteer puppeteers. It’s because they dedicated their valuable time, so that the children can have an opportunities through the puppet performance to get more understanding the special needs people, and learning helping and caring other people. 「因為每次做義工表演前都需要參加講座，從而了解劇中有特 殊需要的角色。所以曾經有一次在工作場所遇到自閉症人士， 也就能夠熟悉地跟他交流和應對，但其他同事卻十分驚慌， 以為他是搞事的人。」

Before each performance we were participating in different seminars to learn about the special needs people and puppet character. For once experience I was met an autistic person in the workplace, and because of training from KOB I am able to communicate with him, but my colleagues are in panic and think he might be making trouble.

「在參與過程中體會到街坊小子義工與別不同之處是-這並 不 像坊間的一般義工服務，而是一種非一般的體驗。每次到訪 學校或機構進行演出，都帶給她不同的體會，亦為她帶來不少 在日常工作以外的滿足感。」 Be the volunteer of The Kids on the Block program, it is different of the other volunteer works - this is not a usual volunteer service, and it brings me a non-ordinary experience. Every time when we performing in schools or organizations, it brought me a different experience and also bring a lot of satisfaction outside from work.

「還沒有參與這份義務工作之前實在估計不到，原來在 小朋友面前表演是一個很大的挑戰！」 Before I’m going to join The Kids on the Block, I cannot imagine that to perform in front of children is a big challenge!

「原來要控制木偶的動作絕非易事。 一來要背熟對白，二來講對白時又要 配合木偶的口型，三來要演繹誇張的 動作，要靠整個身體的配合去控制 木偶，這些對我來說都是一種挑戰。 但每次表 演 過 後，回想自己可以在 表 演 時 做 到 某 些 動 作，而 看 到 小 朋友有特別開心的反應，便會 勉勵 自己 在 下 一次 的 演 出 時 會 再 做 得 好些，務求要更加吸引小朋友的注意 力，使他們樂意繼續聽。所以每一場 演出都會有發揮和嘗試的機會，從而 得到滿足感。」
It is not that easy to control the puppet’s movements. First of all you need to memorize the script. Second, we need to operate the lip synchronization of puppet, then you have come to interpretation the script by using your whole body to control puppet exaggerated movements, these all are challenges for me. But each time after the performance, I will remember the children happy face when they see my movements, that’s encourage myself will doing better in next performance, to be more attractive the children’s attention, so they are willing to listen what we say. Each KOB performance can provide me a chance to try different way to present and it’s obtaining my satisfaction from performance.
「我已經當了義工木偶師14年。當年 被已加入劇團姊姊鼓勵參與，她坦 言與姐姐的關係亦因此而變得更加 親密。及後更與女兒一同加入劇團。 當義工木偶師不但能夠令觀眾更加 認 識和關心 社會，接納 他人，最 大 得 著 是 能 透 過 殘 疾 及 健 全 的 木偶 人物，以及有殘疾兒童的不同劇目， 這也 令 我 們 義 工 本身亦 增 加了這 方面的認識及了解。」
I have been provided my volunteer service to The Kids on the Block nearly 14 years. I’m remembering that first of all is my sisters joined The Kids on the Block (KOB) then they encourage me to join, and the last I was joined KOB with my daughter. I admit it’s make the relationship in between me and my sisters is getting closer. Be a volunteer puppeteer that’s made the audience to aware and concerned about the community. Also through the disability or ordinary puppet characters with KOB different topics, its make me can get to know about them.
「在香港這個社群裡，是擁有 平等的機會。如能在傷 健的 認識上能夠做到一點事情， 我覺得好開心！」 「提供到一個機遇，讓小朋友去思考 問題之餘，也會刺激我們的想法， 讓我們知道，原來我們的新生一代 裡有不同看法又或者我們新生一代 是怎樣去看他們的人生。」
In this community, we have equal opportunities. I’m feeling so happy if we can do something to let the people know about disability people.
It’s provided an opportunity to let the children not only thinking about the questions, it also stimulate our thoughts to let us know that there are different views of our new generation and how to view their life.
「小朋友不只是 「嘻嘻哈哈」地看完 Children are not just “fun” for watching the performance; 一 個 表 演 便了事，我 們 是 需要 用 we need to use some skills to delivery the correct and 一些技巧好正義及好正確地將訊息 positive messages to the children. 帶給小朋友。」
「我們會鼓勵小朋友寫信給我們，在 回信給對方時感覺到小朋友會把你 當作朋友一樣看待。他們會問你住 在那兒，喜歡做些什麼，這會令我 好有親切感！」 「除了自己努力之外，我感覺是希望 讓 社 會 各 界人 士 都 知 道，我 們 這 一 班 義 務工作 的人 並 非只在自己 的小圈子裡工作，其實我們很想將 訊息帶給全港每一個人。」
In the performance we will encourage the children write a letter to us, when I writing the reply letter it makes me feel they treat you are their friend already; they ask where you live and what you like to do.
Except our own efforts, I hope that we can let the community know that this is not the work of small group of people, in fact, we are really want to bring the messages to everyone in Hong Kong. P. 21
「 街 坊 小 子 」木 偶 劇 場 自 1 9 9 5 年 首 演 至 今，已 到 訪 全 港 逾 千 間 中 學、小 學 及 機 構， 為 逾 二 十 多 萬 名 觀 眾 作 表 演 。 我 們 運 用 戲 劇 媒 介，以 生 活 化 的 故 事 去 教 導 童， 而 表 演 過 程 中，台 下 觀 眾 更 可 以 即 場 向 木 偶 劇 的 主 角 作 提 問 。 這 種 特 別 溝 通 形式，讓 觀 眾從中得到一些正面訊 息，學 懂互相 尊重、關心社會、認識及接納別人。

Since our launch in 1995, The Kids on the Block
