After a thousand years, China still be attracted by to the Ancient City - Chang'an. To enter Hong Kong by landway, mainland Chinese must pass through Shenzhen Custom while Hong Kongers must pass through the comstoms to enter mainland China as well. Shenzhen River is a division between Hong Kong and Shenzhen. It is also a zone that distinguishes the two Charter Cities with their unique systems from other cities in mainland China.

[ 第 2 章 Reappearance] [2.1 Ancient Chinese City ]
Chang'an is the most prosperous cities in , Tang Dynasty, the ancient China. Unfortunately, the records of Chang'an only appear in literary works and history books. We can only rely on the discription of words for imagining the scene of Chang'an 's prosperity. As a starting point, we read a famous ancient Chinese novel called Tale of Li Wa to know the commons and officials in the Tang dynasty. The story is mainly about a scholar, called Xingyang, who broke the Street East rules to pursue a good life with Li Wa. In response, the painting scrolls drawn by ourselves also express our understandings on rights and power and freedom.

[Prologue] A local news shows that the left-behind children in rural areas prefer to study in a big Concrete Box. What are they really looking forward to?
G
uming is one of the villages in Guangxi Province, China. The Zhuang people (Chinese: 壮 族 ) are an ethnic group who mostly live in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region in southern China. They have their language, clothes, songs, living types, and styles. Villages have their unique charm with fresh air, the 24 solar terms, and self-sufficient life. Strong vitality will be produced while architecture and people live with nature.
But in Guming Village, nearly 51.9% of Stay-at-home Children are between 7-13 years old. This situation also indicates that the villages are lack of education resource, especially primary schools. Furthermore, Aging is also an issue. Setting up education resources is a crucial way to universalizing compulsory education.
[1-Site Analysis] [1.1 Habbits and Culture Study]
[1.2 Interviews]
On this site, the houses were built along the terraced fields. Many houses use large stones as the structure base and rammed earth bricks as walls to keep cooler in summer. The main structures are made of woods. Combining primary schools with local traditional arts and skills can help children and visitors understand and protect the beautiful culture.

· Recording Note 01
Stay-at-home children, aging, disappearance of traditional skills, and overuse concrete for building instead of rammed earth are urgent issues for Guming Village in recent years. Nearly every family in Guming has migrant workers.
· Characteristic
In their daily lives, elder people usually bring their chairs in the corridor and sit together to sew clothes and wash vegetables. For them, a corridor that connects each room is their main place to communicate place .

· Recording Note 02
T r a di t i o n a l h o us e s i n Guming are in courtyard patterns. The main house in a courtyard is usually for worshiping ancestors. As there are frequent rainy weathers in this place
and the walls of houses are made of rammed earth, the eaves are quite deep. When it's raining, rainwater falling from the eaves will converge in the central courtyard.
[Rivers] Vehicles can only park in the outside Guming village. Two sightseeing routes(one is for walking, the other is for
bicycling) will be designed in advance, ensuring the minimal impact on villagers' everyday life.

[ Hidden In the Village] Even we are the outsiders, the design of architecture should follow the local principles and culture. It is necessary to renovate part of buildings and strengthen the culture protection education. I suppose to design three parts for the primary school: the main teaching area (classrooms), the public area (atrium,
reading area), and the secondary teaching area (music room, art room, gym). The craft artist studios are encouraged to join the secondary teaching area and become a part of the student community activities. Memory and craftsmanship are inheritance methods for local elements.

Tanka people's business that depends on waterways becomes increasingly difficult.
B
efore the 1950s, the Tanka has a much more bigger population along the south Chinese coast, and about 100,000 of them lived in Guangzhou. Besides fishing, they made a living on trading with people along the waterways around Guangzhou. However, now only 1/3 of them still choose to live on water. Tanka people are regard as a marginalized group because of their vagabond lifestyle on rivers. Moreover, Datang town is famous for its restaurants with freshwater produce. When customers want to buy fish, they have to go upstairs to the other side of the embankment. On the embankment, one side is the fish market, and the other side are the restaurants that serve the freshwater produce.
For customers, they have to walk along the embankment to the riverside. The embankment is nearly 7 meters high. For Tanka people, markets are usually susceptible to the weather. On this site, a marketplace with a certain flow of people and a courier station for fishermen' s rest is necessary.

Normal food markets have fixed locations for merchants, and customers do not have clear purchasing inclinations.
During the severe rising tide periods, the water submerges the lower floors of the market, but the boats can still enter the market to sell fresh foods.

How to combine with water is the main idea of the design. Water can keep freshwater food fresh. Also, by the light of nature, fishermen understand when to open or close the market while the rising tide or the falling tide's coming. This is a free market, and not all goods on the boats must be sold ashore. The cultural center takes "people" as a part of the exhibition. Such as 4.1 takes "singing on the boats" as the form of performance. 4.2 shows audience on the second floor how to observe the process of repairing boats on the first floor. Also, in 4.3, part of the market is extended into the cultural center. These aim to show that although the Tanka culture has not disappeared yet, it will become the static exhibits and photos in the future.

[Prologue]
How can the reconstructed building be revitalized when it becomes dilapidate again in the future?
T
he site is on the Chenggong Road, Taichung, Taiwan.
A concentration of eight Taiwanese theaters was on Chenggong Road in the past. These theaters mainly opened for film watching. For the local people, watching movies was their main recreation and became a popular habit after meals. But now, these traditional theaters are all closed down. Chenggong Road not only had film culture but also used to be a traditional commerce and residential center. However, with the decline of Zhongqu District (located in the center of the city), surrounding residents have left for the new exploited area. The surrounding buildings are planned as a part of the historical area by the government. The remaining residents gradually lack cultural facilities. Chenggong Road becomes very deserted and quiet. This design is going to reconstruct the decayed Zhongying Building as a community center. But, how can the reconstructed building be revitalized when it becomes [1-Site Analysis] [1.1 History] dilapidated again in the future? The Japanese government planned Taichung city as a chessboard. Until now, Zhongqu district area remains the same pattern.
[1.2 Doughnut Effect] Shopping buildings were built. Zhongqu district became the business center.
The economic downturn happened. Shopping malls were closed down in succession.
[1.3 Situation]

his is a teamwork design and completed in a short time. We completed this simple design concept in three days, which provided a constructive suggestion for the usage of the Long Lawn in front of the Engineering Building. As the students in this university, we well knew that many students and professionals from other expertise go in and out of the Engineering Building every day. Through our observation, we find that the entrance is a place full of communication. Many people would choose to greet and chat with acquaintances before entering the building. That is why we propose this Long Lawn as a communication corridor. Simultaneously, tall trees are on both sides of the sidewalk. Students are accustomed to the squirrels that climb up and down and cross sidewalks every day. Also, the rare birds often have habitats here. While considering the use of students, we also need to consider the activities of animals carefully.

[About the Cover] I took the cover photo when I participated in a volunteer workshop which aimed to renovate and rebuild the ancient watermill in Guizhou Province, China. Even the mill built by soild granite stone and woods in the late Qing dynasty, it was still collapsed after countless wars and abandoned. After all, Daily and Impermanent are the essential attributes of architecture. 22
1. About the Group Project There are two designs I worked on with others in the portfolio. Belowed I will explain the part that I was responsible for. The first design "Chang'an Is Gone," and the last design "Stay with Nature." 1-"Chang'an Is Gone": It was my graduation design, and I worked with one of my classmates. But we just cooperated in site analysis and the study about Tang Dynasty. We shared the site analysis. And about the Tang Dynasty's study, my partner was responsible for rewriting stories and extracting the characteristics. I was mainly responsible for the painting scrolls. Other parts were finished by myself, including the translation part, reconstruction part, and model making.

2-"Stay with Nature": This was a time-limited competition. We finished different drawings, but the pictures shown in my portfolio were all drawn by myself. I was mainly responsible for the concepts, development, and renders. My two partners were good at the structure part and model making part.
