EVERYDAY DUBAI EVERYDAY DUBAI 2012 // 2017
I plan to develop my visual bodies of work including art and graphic design in the form of visual articulation . This articulation began with a project based on my interest in the interactions between graphical and urban spaces from the perspective of place, memories, and developing memories using graphic design as a tool. How are pictures, media and place actively intertwined with material conditions in cities? How does the fluidity of media and data relate to the stability of forms? I am approaching such questions with using Dubai as an example through a project I called “Everyday Dubai”, where on a daily basis, I create work that represent a specific location in Dubai and portray it using form. In this project, I am considering the interactions between a broad cultural enthusiasm for viewing a city from the above (a birds eye view). One objective of this project is to looking at the visual substance of its relationships with various publics. Another objective is to question the importance of ‘place’ and what it means in the context of a city like Dubai, a city that possesses an ongoing urban change. THE COMMON WEALTH + NATIONS OF 2011
The commonwealth definition: A community that manages a pool of resources for the collective good. The original meaning of the word wealth was “well-being”. so the term “common wealth” meant “common well-being” With that concept in mind, “the Commons”, I created a “machine” to develop a series of flags that speaks to the random and evolving power of migration to affect the role of the State and Capitalism. Those forms will help the viewer (the Commons) to envision future structures through the reanimated graphic forms. The “machine” I created is a mash-up of the flags that remind one of a country, and looked at re-structuring the flags.

PSYCHOGEOGRAPHY A MIDDLE EAST WITHOUT BORDERS 2011
Psychogeography definition: “the study of the precise laws and specific effects of the geographical environment, consciously organized or not, on the emotions and behavior of individuals.” - Guy Debord, 1955 In this study, I maped the experience of what if we live in a Middle East without borders? how would the map look like? and what would be the experience be? Inspired by Muhammed Saladin Nusaid quote, an Egyptian Engineer “If a human being doesn’t feel the pain of his fellow human beings, then everything we’ve created since the very beginning of existence is in great danger. We shouldn’t let borders and difference separate us. We were made different to complete each other, to integrate and live together, one world, one pain, one humanity, one hope”. I worked on the transformation of removing the borders on the Middle Easts map.

PSYCHOLOGY OF ART
PSYCHOLOGY OF ART MEDIA MATTERS 2011
Three posters developed around the themes of unhiddeness and the Truth, a concept explored in writings on art and design by Derrida, Kant, Heidegger, and Plato. The posters were screen-printed, the reason behind it was to reanimate the digital form into the handmade form.

ARABIC A DYING LANMEDIA MATTERS 2011
Here are a few looks inside a book I designed in Martin Venezky’s MFA Experimental Type. We were dedicating the semester to designing one book. I worked with the concept of Arabic a Dying Language, where Arabic is always mirroring/ imitating the Latin type, specifically looking at Dubai market as an example. Still in progress, when it is complete, I expect to see a lot of ornaments, languages merging and typographic surprises.

EXHIBITION DESIGN
COME TOGETHER WE SEEK WAYS TO COME TOGETHER 2012
COME TOGETHER is the California College of the Arts MFA Design Exhibition. It was conceived as a celebration of the collective work of different designers, linked by the practice of transdisciplinary design. Our goal was to show the thematic and methodological cross-links that occurred between the different designers’ projects, while emphasizing the sprit of collaboration and community that enabled the design process to thrive. It was also imperative that we include the visitors in a participatory manner because many audience members did not have experience with contemporary design. The curatorial and visual strategy was driven by the metaphor of different lines of thought concerning and intersecting like a network of threat. Over 4,000 visitors attended the grad-wide opening night. I served as the LEAD DESIGNER AND CURATOR for the show, and leading a small team of designers to design and execute the exhibition space, identity, signage, publication, and event planning. The show was selected as a semifinalist for the Adobe Achievements Awards for the year of 2012
