Refocusing the Brand Logitech to Logi

pg. 2

The Problem Logitech has been around a decade before I was even born, however, the brand seems to be stuck in the 80s. The name embraces the word “logic”, so it’s a shame the current logo miss a chance to be as clever as the name. It also irks me that the description behind the redesign was the excuse “it challenged the notion that logos have to be simple.” I feel as though the Logitech brand is a brilliant one that needs a smart logo to compete.

Logitech provides products that improve devices capabilities. They bring new dimension a user interaction with their computer, tablet, phone, etc. They are the smart choice for any consumer to enhance their technological experience. For these reasons, I have moved towards a 3D theme, and put the focus strictly on the Logical aspect of Logitech.

The Elements The Logi Elements (see pg. 9) are tools to help create a unique enviorment for the Logi brand. While they are not able to alone take place of the Logi Logo, they can be used to decorate and design Logi products. This is just one of the many benifits to having the new Logi logo. As you will see in later examples, the logitech logo and elements work together to create an enviorment that is easily recognizable to the customers. While the logo, itself, is simple, the logi elements give a great deal of depth to the overall brand. They are able to create interesting shapes, patters, and atmosphere without having to break, distort, or destory the Logi logo.

The “Logi” logo, itself, is an image. There is no typeface to recreate this image. However, the use of a tag line, motto, or any other secondary text should use the typeface, Myriad Pro. The use of a secondary text is not required, but should meet the follow the letter forms below when used:

Application how to use the new logo

pg. 26

When using the Logitech logo, make sure to keep a clear space around the logo. To do this, keep the spacing to the left and right the same width as the “I” in “Logi”. The same system is used for the top and bottom, measuring with the negative space inside the “O” or “G”. This should allow the logo to breath, and not come in contact with elements outside of the logo, nor allow elements to distract from the Logi Logo.

When using a secondary type, the space expands to incorporate the text. Secondary type should not be taller then the width of the “I” in Logi. If the type size does not meet this requirement, it should stand alone. Spacing between the logo and the type should be the width of the “I” from the bottom of the logo, to the x-hieght of the type.
