Craft your own Christmas card
CRAFTS
with Brenda Lobley
When I first started card making a fellow crafter said to me ‘Crafting seriously damages your wealth.’ I wouldn’t necessarily agree with that statement but I found that I loved it so much and wanted to buy ‘everything’. Actually you can spend as much or as little as you like and whatever the cost, it is far outweighed by the pleasure both from making the cards and the pleasure that the recipients get knowing that their card has been handmade, plus the friendship and generosity that bonds all crafters together.
When I made my first card I was thrilled with it, which led me to carrying on making them. I have continued to take great pleasure from card making for four years and looking back can see how much I have improved. I am going to show you how to make an easy, attractive 3D card, using materials which can easily be obtained in Riverside Crafts, our very well stocked local craft shop.
2. Start building the design from the decoupage sheet (using glue gel to give the necessary dimension) using the ‘pop outs’ in sequence A1, A2 etc. This will give a lovely 3D effect.
1. Mat (layer) pale blue cardstock onto silver cardstock and mat on to card blank using double sided tape.
3. If you wish, you don’t need to use all of the ‘pop outs’ for your design. The remainder can be used to extend your ‘stash’ and used towards making another card. However, the 3D effect won’t be as obvious but would still look great.
4. Finished card using all of the decoupage ‘pop outs’ Allow 24 hours for glue to dry
Tip: If using a sentiment stamp then stamp card blank prior to adding design. There is nothing worse than making a lovely card only for it to be ruined by a smudged sentiment! HAVE FUN! For commissions Brenda Lobley 07954895280
