Fashion Trends this Autumn
FASHION to watch for this autumn… Five top trends
Ria Taylor keeps a close eye on what’s hot and what’s not!
With the summer nights drawing in and the inevitable return of having the central heating on fast approaching, it’s fair to say that British summer time is well and truly over. Autumn has arrived, which for me means it’s the beginning of the best season of the year for fashion! Nothing screams autumn more like oversized, chunky jumpers, digging your favourite pair of boots out of the wardrobe and flaunting the fabulous return of your statement trench coat. It’s true, there are many key pieces which come, go and return again every autumn, but these are some of the top trends you need to watch out for – and master for the perfect look this season.
My favourite colour of last season is here to stay – khaki, the one colour that goes with pretty much everything. I enjoyed matching it with nudes, pinks and browns for summer, but experiment with navy, burgundy and grey for a palette more suitable for autumn.
Dress: £28.00, sleeveless cardigan: £20.00, both Dorothy Perkins
The maxi coat
A longline duster ‘maxi’ coat is one of the best ways to wrap up warm this autumn, as it can be worn to both dress up or dress down outfits. Team a camel trench style maxi coat with a dress and heels for ultimate glam, or pair a knitted wrap-around with trainers for on-trend sports style.
Skirt: New Look, £14.99
Modern monochrome
Always a favourite in every season, monochrome is in, but this autumn in the form of vertical stripes and wild geometric patterns.
The statement white blouse
A white blouse is a key wardrobe piece for this season because of its simplicity and versatility. Perfect for throwing on with your favourite pair of jeans or looking sharp at the office, this piece is a must.
A tailored edge
Trousers are bang on trend this autumn, and are fashionable in every shape, size and colour imaginable. Think cropped flares, wide leg palazzo pants, patterned culottes and high waist wrap belt trousers and you’re set for the season.
