Two Beloved Non-Profits Join Forces
W
e are pleased to announce that the merger of Camarillo Hospice and Livingston Memorial Visiting Nurse Association is complete! Going forward, Camarillo Hospice will be a program of Livingston. Camarillo Hospice has worked with Livingston for over 30 years, sharing patients, training volunteers, educating the community, and providing bereavement and grief support for people who have had a loss. And Livingston has a mission to ensure access to our care for all patients regardless of their ability to pay. Both organizations are supported through foundations and donations from friends and neighbors right here in Ventura County. Merging two highly respected and beloved non-profit organizations will provide care to patients in Ventura County and enhance services for our community. Both organizations share a mission of providing care for people who have life threatening or terminal illness, as well as grief and bereavement counseling. By bringing services together, we are creating a unique community-based health system for end-of-life care and bereavement services throughout Ventura County.
Ongoing dedication to the community While Livingston brings many new services and areas of expertise to existing Camarillo Hospice patients, the missions we both hold dear will not change and existing Camarillo Hospice programs will continue: n Volunteer services to provide caring and sensitive support and relief to patients and families n Individual and family grief and bereavement counseling n Life story program n Healing music and therapy animal visits n Spring Garden Tour, Annual Community Memorial Services, Tree of Life, and Certified Farmers Market

The missions we hold dear will not be lost We are fully committed to make the new Camarillo Hospice: A Program of Livingston Memorial Visiting Nurse Association a model of what two compassionate organizations can do when they unite to serve the communities they love.

Beloved Hospices Merge
W
e are proud to announce Livingston and Camarillo Hospice, two hospices beloved by the community, have joined to provide even more compassionate and kind services for the dying and bereaved. Both the Camarillo Hospice and the Livingston Board of Directors enthusiastically voted unanimously to approve the merger. That was followed by a vote of the Camarillo Hospice Members who also voted unanimously to give their stamp of approval. The final step was submission to the California Attorney General’s office who gave its approval in mid-April. So now with the merger complete, what does it mean for the community? Camarillo Hospice has been strengthened by becoming a program of Livingston. While the volunteer component of Camarillo Hospice remains fully intact, we are now in the process of licensing the Camarillo Hospice office to also provide medical hospice, which will give residents more convenient access to the full spectrum of hospice care. It is our intention to preserve and continue to promote all the programs and services that have made Camarillo Hospice such an integral and valued community partner. We hope you will continue to support the Saturday Farmers Market, and that you join us December 2nd for the annual Camarillo Tree of Life Celebration, which will become a welcome addition to Livingston’s annual Light Up A Life programs. Camarillo Hospice is not going away; it just found a new happy home as a program of Livingston Memorial Visiting Nurse Association. We would like to especially thank Sandy Nirenberg, Kay Wigton, and all the Camarillo Hospice Board of Directors, Members, staff and volunteers whose goodwill and efforts were the magic behind the merger. Lanyard K. Dial, MD, President/CEO and Medical Director Laura K. McAvoy, Board Chairman

The Camarillo Certified Farmers Market is a project of Camarillo Hospice. Held every Saturday 8 a.m. to noon— rain or shine — at 2220 Ventura Boulevard in Old Town. Over the years, the Camarillo Certified Farmers Market has become a community meeting place where friends, neighbors and strangers shop, socialize and celebrate “the Good Life” and our agricultural heritage. The Market is managed and run by Camarillo Hospice volunteers, and a percentage of all gross sales directly benefits Camarillo Hospice.
